MADE SAFE literally means made with safe ingredients. It means no known carcinogens, behavioral, reproductive, and neurotoxins, hormone disruptors, heavy metals, pesticides, insecticides, flame retardants, toxic solvents, or harmful VOCs are allowed in the product. MADE SAFE scrutinizes each and every ingredient listed, even checking the supply chain to look for possible contamination sources.
So now you don’t just have to take our word for it—we’re undergoing a scientific process ensuring that when we say our products are safe, they really are MADE SAFE. We have never used ingredients that build up in your body or can’t break down in the environment—and we never will. And now we’ll be certified to prove it.
We know, it seems like common sense that these kinds of ingredients should not be allowed in any products. But it’s the wild west when it comes to the skin care industry—there isn’t a law to regulate the chemicals that companies are using in products found commonly on the shelves. In response to Stephanie’s question, we review products regularly but we perform a full top-to-bottom review every 3 years. Brands are responsible for submitting new ingredients to us as they change or swap items to keep in good standing.
