We need to talk about body washes… more specifically, vegan body washes, like the Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body Wash in our organic body care collection. Are you listening? Great!
Let’s set the stage. It’s shower time. Maybe bath time. You’re ready to ease into your routine with a rudimentary bar soap straight out of the discount bin at your local grocery store. It contains a list of 97 unpronounceable ingredients, some of which are animal by-products. You don’t like this. You’re wearing your frowny face.
Before your first foot hits the water, you remember that gift you got for your birthday – a bottle of Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body Wash. It’s an invigorating gel cleanser that smells divine and has an easy pump top for a no “fumble for the bar” experience. You like this. There’s your smiley face.
What Does it Mean to be a Vegan Body Wash?
Vegan? Wait, isn’t that a dietary choice? I’m not planning to eat this stuff!
Fair point. Let’s start by creating some definition around what it means to be considered a “vegan” product. Traditionally speaking, a product that is considered vegan and marketed as such does not contain any animal or animal derived ingredients, such as honey, lanolin, collagen and gelatin.
It’s also important to remember that although a vegan product does not contain any animal ingredients, it isn’t necessarily cruelty-free. Our Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body Wash is not only vegan, but as with all Annmarie Skin Care products, it is never tested on animals.
Back to Basics
Ok, now that we have a clear understanding of what it means to be a vegan body wash, let’s go back to basics. Go to any store that sells beauty/bath products and you’ll see a plethora of choices in the body wash aisle. It’s almost anxiety-inducing—the number of choices and all their various claims: “The best lather!” “The richest texture!” “Like washing with silk!” Sigh. How do you choose?
Body washes should do a few fundamental things: They should make you feel clean, they should leave your skin refreshed, and they should not leave residue or film on your lovely epidermis. Sounds simple, right? Right! Then why do so many body washes contain chemicals, animal by-products and synthetic fragrances that leave your skin feeling itchy, dull or greasy? That’s a big no-no in our book.
We use ingredients that are good for your skin and your senses! This is about getting clean in a way that’s healthy, not harmful. Natural, organic ingredients that work with your body instead of against it comprise all of our products, not just our Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body Wash.
So What’s in It?
Our Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body Wash really steps it up a notch. It takes just a few select ingredients, combines them and with a little wave of the magic wand… TA DA—a pH-balanced cleanser that makes your skin clean, refreshed and free of harmful chemicals. Don’t worry, We’re not going to leave you hanging with a mysterious reference to “secret” ingredients. As you may have guessed from the name, rosemary and peppermint essential oils are key to this cleanser. Peppermint has long been touted for its many benefits and uplifting fragrance. If you add to that the benefits of rosemary essential oil (stimulating clarity with inducing calm), you have the beginnings of a cleanliness cocktail that surpasses your basic scrub-a-dub action.
Lemon Balm, also known as Balm Mint or Common Balm, is a perennial herb in the mint family that gives a pleasant fragrance to the body wash.
Aloe Vera… that gorgeous plant! If you’ve ever had a sunburn or an unfortunate encounter with a hot pan, you are likely familiar with this gem. Soothing and moisturizing, aloe has made its way into many products for all of its reported attributes.
Who Can Use It?
You can. And you. Also you. That’s right; the Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body Wash is suitable for ALL skin types. In fact, it’s so gentle that it can even be used as a face cleanser. Both vegan and gluten free, this body wash aims to meet the needs of…well…everyone!
