Most of us have a common goal when it comes to our skin care routine: clear skin. Sounds simple. But when there are so many different things dermatologists, magazines, blogs, stores and even friends tell us to try, it starts getting pretty complicated. And that doesn’t even begin to talk about the amount of products available to do all the “things” we are told we need to do to keep our face clean and clear. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion, scrubs and foams and gels… It’s. Too. Much.
Our skin, especially the skin on our face, relies on a delicate balance of pH, nutrition, and the right skin care products to look and feel its healthiest. It doesn’t need fancy and expensive trips to the spa, but rather a solid understanding of our lovely facial epidermis.
Like the rest of our bodies, the skin on our face gets surface build up of dry or dead skin cells. Left on your skin, it can clog your pores or create a dull appearance to your visage. That’s where our Ayurvedic Facial Scrub comes sweeping in to leave your face feeling lighter and more beautiful than before – think Fred and Ginger of exfoliation!
What is Exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the gentle removal of this surface build up to reveal the new, fresh skin underneath.
Our skin is working hard to naturally exfoliate at all times through a process called keratinisation. This process entails a 28 day cycle during which the live cells harden as they surface to the top of your skin. This is where they go to die and once they do… You guessed it; the appearance of dull, dry skin.
Here’s where we can offer support and teamwork to our skin by facilitating the exfoliation process so it doesn’t have to work so hard!

What are the Benefits of Exfoliation?
Well my pretties… Lemme tell you!
- It helps keep your skin healthy and glowing while also being stimulating.
- It can help to reduce wrinkles, lines and skin discoloration over time.
- It draws dirt and grime from clogged pores.
- Exfoliating helps get rid of dry, flaky patches of skin.
You Had Me at Glowing!
I’m convinced I need to exfoliate, but with what? Our Ayurvedic Facial Scrub has got a lot to offer in the exfoliation department. It’s a dry Indian herbal mix that cleanses, exfoliates and softens skin with natural and organic ingredients, such as horsetail and fenugreek seeds. Another key ingredient, Mineral-rich Rhassoul clay, can only be found in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and is formed by a natural combination of volcanic activity and geothermal changes. Rhassoul clay is beneficial for your skin because it absorbs excess oil and reduces breakouts. Some studies have even indicated that it can increase skin elasticity, even tone and reduce dry skin.

Should I Exfoliate Daily?
Don’t you dare! Even Fred and Ginger needed rest days. Two to four times a week (depending on your skin type)—that’s all you need. Although our product was designed for all skin types, including sensitive skin, over-exfoliating can strip your face of the natural oils it needs. Find the routine that sufficiently removes the extra bacteria and dead skin cells without disrupting the skin’s natural moisturizers in your skin.
How Do I Use the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub?
Combine 1 teaspoon with a few drops of water in palm of hand. Mix to form a paste. For a richer scrub, blend with Aloe Herb Cleanser (1 to 2 pumps) or the Phytonutrient Cleanser. Gently massage paste onto face and neck. Wipe clean with a wet, warm towel. Follow with your favorite serum and/or moisturizer.
