Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, so from there, let me just talk about collections quickly and our basic routine recommendation, and then we can get to each of your concerns.
Within our line, we have a lot of products, which I feel like if you're new in care or to the line can feel really overwhelming. So a way to kind of help it feel a little less confusing is collections. We have two main collections. The two main collections, the Signature Collection. All of these products have the tan labeling. A lot of these products are our best sellers. A lot of these products are products that have been around since we first got started.

The other main collection that we have is our Wild Alchemy Collection. This collection is our luxury collection. What makes it our luxury collection is that the products in this collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients, things like our retinol alternative, our bioactive A complex, and our THDA, our pure vitamin C. The products in this collection also contain more of these globally sourced ingredients, things like mongongo oil, and baobob oil.
So those are the two main collections. Then we have some smaller collections. Which I probably won't even touch on right now unless you know, once we're talking to each of you, if we need to bring up any of those, we can. But just to keep it a little more simple, we'll just focus on those two for the most part.
And then the basic routine. So the basic recommended routine, this is just kind of a general recommendation that we recommend for everybody that you would do morning and evening, is to use a cleanser, a toner, a serum, and a moisturizer, which all of our facial moisturizers are oils. So cleanser, toner, serum, oil.
I always tell people that this is just our general recommendation. I always think it's really best to customize your routine, find what works best for you, what works best for your lifestyle, and what works best for your skin. Maybe you're somebody who's completely new to skincare, and that feels overwhelming. Maybe you don't want to do four steps. Maybe you want to do two steps, and that's fine too. You could start with just the cleanser and the facial oil and then build from there.
Okay, so I will stop there, and I'll see if anybody wants to share. You can raise a hand or shout out or whatever and maybe just share a little bit about your skin, a little bit about what you're looking to learn, questions that you might have, anything like that. It looks like we have four on the call now, but that's still small enough that I think we can kind of do it, you know, this more personalized way. A lot of times, one person has a question, and as we're going through it, it kind of answers another person's question.
Customer: I'll go. Hi. I started with Annmarie quite a while ago, just buying, I think, two things: one was the aloe cleanser, and then it was, I think, the serum. And my background is I grew up in Hawaii, that was before they had sunscreen. And so what I'm finding out, oh, for the last 30 or more years, is I have skin cancers, basal cell skin cancers, and precancerous ones that are frozen off. And so I've been through several treatments that actually ruined my skin, and I started putting just essential oils on and coconut oil to try to heal it, and it did. It healed over time; it took a few years, and so I feel like my skin is, considering what it's been through, pretty healthy. But I noticed that what I'm currently using, because I switched from Annmarie because the flakiness and the dryness wasn't going away. And maybe I didn't understand the line, but I switched to a product called Oak Essentials, which is so rich. But what I noticed over a couple of years is that it wasn't taking away the flakiness. And so I am transitioning out of that back to Annmarie. I still use the cleanser because my skin loves it. And I'm like, well, maybe I need to just transition all my products back to her to see what will happen. And the flakiness is generally in my forehead and around my eyebrows. The rest of my skin is just sensitive. And so I use whatever I buy, items for sensitive skin. And so I'm here listening to this consultation today, not because I'm new to skin products, but because I'm searching for something that will heal my skin, continue to heal it, and I'll continue to use, but then I'll see some noticeable effects that it's actually you know, helping. So I thought I might get some information from you that would help me and I have just ordered. I ordered and then I was offered this consultation. I ordered a serum. I didn't get any more cleanser because I have two bottles. I ordered a serum and I have to look at what else.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Let me just grab your email address, and then that way I can just pull up your order. Ok, so you're using the Aloe Herb Cleanser still, right?
Customer: Yes.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay.
Customer: And then because I get a hair product online called Prose, they sent me some of their new products, and what I liked was a serum, and I'm using that, which seems to be helping, but that's why I ordered the Annmarie serum because I really feel like it's a higher-quality product.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. So, it sounds like the Aloe Herb Cleanser is working well for you. So I definitely would stick with that.
I see that you ordered the Probiotic Serum With Tremella and the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. Those are probably two great choices for you. The Probiotic Serum, that's one that I typically will recommend for more sensitive skin types or skin that's just kind of out of balance. It's got the probiotic ferment, which can help to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin and can help to balance the skin's pH. It's got the tremella mushroom extract, which is very hydrating. Tremella mushroom acts similar to hyaluronic acid, really deeply hydrating the skin, drawing water to the skin to hydrate and plump. That one has astaxanthin too, a really powerful antioxidant. So that's probably a great choice.

And then the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin, also probably a great choice for you. That one has no added essential oils, as I was mentioning before. So a good option for sensitive skin types. It's got a bunch of omega-rich oils in there. There's sacha inchi oil and camellia seed oil. It’s got squalane in it as well. That combination of products should be pretty nourishing. It's interesting that the flakiness is just around this area.
Customer: I know, I don't understand it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Have you tried incorporating any type of exfoliation?
Customer: No, should I?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, I feel like you could try it. I would probably start with something pretty gentle since you're more sensitive like our Ayurvedic Facial Scrub. This one here, it's very, very gentle. So it's appropriate for very sensitive skin types. It's actually a dry powder and you just shake a bit into your hand and then you mix some water, buff it into the skin and rinse. But what you could also do, because you have the Aloe Herb Cleanser, is just mix it right in with your cleanser. So just shake a little bit in there, and to start you could try to maybe just incorporate it like twice a week when you cleanse just adding a little bit of the scrub in there. And that might be enough to help with the flakiness.
Sometimes people will say “I'm using all of these really hydrating, really moisturizing products, but my skin still feels dry.” Often, if you are not exfoliating at all, you kind of can get this layer of build up on the skin and then all of your hydrating and moisturizing products aren't able to really penetrate deeply to work effectively.
Customer: Alright, and I might as well do my whole face as long as I'm doing it right?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh yeah, absolutely. You can, you know, kind of spend a little extra time focusing on that area, but I would definitely just do your whole face when you use it. But to start, I think the products you’ve got coming should work well for you.
Customer: Excellent. Thank you very much.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, of course. Any other questions?
Customer: Just the psoriasis.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. So what are you using now? Anything?
Customer: The Blue Lagoon algae. They have a serum and cream that I use and they have masks, different masks, and I use both of them about once a week.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay I'm not familiar with that line, but like I was saying from our line, my suggestion would be to choose those more gentle products geared toward sensitive skin types. Some of the products that we already touched on would probably work well-the Aloe Herb Cleanser, Probiotic Serum, Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin.
You could also take a look at the Botanical Hydration Mist With Imortelle. The Activated CBD Serum is another good one for sensitive skin.

Grace hopped off, but she is our sensitive skin girl. She has rosacea and she loves the CBD serum and the Botanical Hydration Mist, those are her two “holy grail” products.
The Botanical Hydration Mist contains a blend of four types of chamomile. It’s also got some rose in there, so it’s very soothing and nurturing.
And then another thing that I was going to mention that you could give a try if you wanted to is honey cleansing. Have you ever tried it?
Customer: I'm sorry, what? You mean just straight honey by itself?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, I know it sounds a little strange, like it would be very sticky and messy, but it actually is not. It can be great if skin is irritated or out of balance. I tend to be very congestion prone and sometimes still, if I feel that my skin is out of balance or experiencing a lot of congestion I will go back to honey cleansing and then once I feel like my skin is sort of getting back to “normal” then I will reintroduce my other cleansers.
To do it you can just any raw honey or I like to use Manuka honey, UMF 15. You just dampen skin, apply the honey, massage it in and rinse. You can also apply it and leave it on for 15-20-30 minutes to use it more like a treatment mask if you want to. Obviously it's not going to remove makeup if you wear makeup, but if you're not wearing makeup, you can use it as a cleanser. So you could give that a try if you wanted.
Customer: Thank you.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You’re welcome. Okay. What else? Did you guys have any other questions besides that or was that kind of mostly what you were looking to find out?
Customer: For me, that's what I was looking to find out. Just making sure that I ordered the correct products and find out if there's anything else I should consider ordering. And yeah, I would like to order the scrub. I also wanted to mention, I'm not a nutritionalist, I'm not a doctor, but I do have a daughter in law who had terrible, terrible eczema all of her life, and not that you need to do this, just food for thought, she ended up having a lot of intestinal issues too, so that led her to really look at her diet and she ended up going full vegan. But what she did first is she eliminated all dairy from her diet and her eczema went away. She has a nephew who wasn't born with eczema, but within the first six months had pretty bad eczema. And she talked to her sister in law about needing to, because I guess she was nursing and then put him on cows milk and that's when it started. And she tried to educate her sister in law about taking them off because he would cry because it was so bad. When my son met her, he told me stories about how it would get so bad and hurt so much she would cry. Well, here's this little baby crying. It just destroyed her. So they took him off of cow's milk. And I'm not sure what they did because, I mean, you can't put a baby on nut milk. Maybe they just put him on formula and it went away. So that's just something to think about. There may be something in your diet. Learning from my daughter in law that a lot of times it is dairy and to test that out is so easy because you can do it yourself. And there's so many alternatives to dairy now that you could test it out, but who knows? It may not be dairy. It may be something else you're ingesting that your body's having a really hard time with. So that's just an idea to put out there for food for thought that might help you in the long run.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, it's so tricky. With any skin issue like that, acne or psoriasis, etc. there are just so many factors that can affect it, it can be hard to narrow it down to find out what is causing it. But yes, sometimes an elimination diet can be helpful.
Customer: Thank you.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Carol? Are you back? Did you have any questions that you wanted to throw in here?
Customer: Hi, everyone. I do. I just have a couple of questions. One is sometimes I get little, you know, breakouts, like a little skin irritation. Not often. It's every now and again, you know I have been using the aloe cleanser. And the serum, the Citrus Stem Cell Serum and the oil, which I love, my face loves it.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, good.
Customer: Yeah. But I had stopped for a minute because I was doing a detox. So I ended up with just a little irritation. So I was wondering, is there anything that would help with that? I mean, I'm still using the cleanser. I love the cleanser. It's just wonderful. I was just wondering, you know, like when I have those little breakouts or irritations then should I just go back to using it? Which I am not. But is there anything that I can do in between to sort of help that along?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. Yeah, I mean, it sounds like you are saying that your skin does well when you are using the products, right? It is just when you run out or when you are doing the detox that it has a bit of the irritation and breakouts?
Customer: Yes, it does fine when I'm using it. It only happened this time when I did the detox. So I'm just sort of working with that, you know? But my skin loves the cleanser. It loves the serum. It loves the oil.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. I mean, I feel like if when you're using them, the products are feeling good and working well, then I would probably continue with using those products. I mean, you can always play around and try different things. Like I said, we have so many products in the line. But if those are working well for you, then I would maybe just stick to it.
You could always add to your routine. It doesn’t sound like you currently are using a toning mist, right? So you could add one if you wanted to. A toning mist is going to add a dose of hydration and skin supporting nutrients. It also will help with product absorption.
There's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water and then dry skin, which is skin that's lacking oil. Most of the time people have a little bit of both, a little bit of dehydration, a little bit of dryness and so that's why we recommend the combination of hydrating products and moisturizing products.
Of your products your hydrators would be your toning mist and your serum And then your moisturizer would be your facial oil.
As I mentioned, the other thing that I love about a toning mist, is that it helps with absorption. Your skin is like a sponge. It will absorb better when it is damp. I always recommend applying your serums and oils to skin when it is a bit damp. And we already talked about the Botanical Hydration Mist a bit. This one is in our Wild Alchemy Collection. It is very soothing, very calming. It also has some wonderful anti-aging ingredients like the Imortelle or life everlasting flowers, which are a powerful antioxidant and the Frankincense, which is known to tone tighten and rejuvenate skin.
We also have the Rosemary Toning Mist and the Neroli Toning Mist. You're saying you're getting a little bit of a breakout, but I'm not sure if it's like true breakouts, or if it's more like irritation?
Customer: Yea, I think it's from the detox.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Right.
Customer: It was fine until I did the detox.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Ok. So you could give the Rosemary Toning Mist a try when you are experiencing the breakouts if you think that it is more of a true breakout vs irritation. The Rosemary Mist is very purifying. It's got the rosemary and the white willow bark in it, so it can be really helpful for congestion. So if you are feeling like what you are experiencing is more of a true breakout then this would be my recommendation. If you think that is just more of an irritation in the skin then I would go with the Botanical Hydration Mist.
And then, I know that you mentioned that you are using the Citrus Stem Cell Serum, which is wonderful, but you could even consider the Probiotic Serum that we talked about earlier in the call when you are detoxing or when your skin is feeling a bit out of balance. Like maybe as your skin is kind of transitioning after your cleanse you use the probiotic and then once your skin is feeling more balanced you switch back to your Citrus Stem Cell Serum. You could try that. That may be a good option for you.
Customer: Okay, that sounds good. Thank you.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, of course. All right, guys. What else? Do we have other questions or are we feeling complete?
Customer: As far as trying the products, do you have, like, smaller sizes or do they all come full size? Are there sample sizes available?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: We have some products that come in the smaller travel size but not all of them. So on our website, if you go to the shop page and then all the way to the right there's trial sizes and sample sizes on the dropdown menu. We do also have a pretty lenient return policy as we really want you to find products that you love and that work well for you. So if you do purchase a full size and find that it is not working for you, you can return or exchange it within 30 days.
Customer: Ok, great. Thank you so much.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, you're welcome. Thank you! I hope you guys all have an awesome day. Hopefully, we got all of your questions answered. If you do think of anything else you can always reach out to our customer care team. It’s ask@annmariegianni.com
