Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: From there we can jump into the line and jump into routines. Within the line, we have a few different collections. The two main collections that we have are the Signature Collection.
So the Signature Collection products are all of these products that have the tan labeling. A lot of these products are products that have been around since we first got started. A lot of them are some of our best-selling products. And then the other main collection that we have is the Wild Alchemy Collection. And that collection, all the products have black and gold labeling. And that is our luxury line. What makes it our luxury line is just that the products in this collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients, they also contain more exotic ingredients. So those are the two main lines.
We do have some smaller collections as well like our Essentials Collection and our Estate Blend Collection, but those are the two main ones that we'll really focus on.
So the basic four-step routine that we recommend to everybody that you would do both morning and evening would be cleanse, tone, use a serum, and then a moisturizer or a facial oil, which all of our moisturizers are oils. All of our facial moisturizers are oils. So that's kind of the basic routine that we recommend for everybody. I always tell people, you know, it's best to just kind of customize your routine, find what works best for you, what works best for your skin, what works best for your lifestyle.
You can always start out small and just choose a cleanser and a facial oil and then you can build from there.
So since this is a small group, maybe we can just chat with each of you and kind of see what you're looking to learn, kind of why you joined the call, and if you've tried any of our products before, what you're currently using, skin concerns, anything that you feel like sharing or if you don't want to share, that's okay too.
Did anyone feel like sharing?
Customer: I have a vast array of products. My dermatologist has their own line, so a lot of what I have is from there. I have, you know, Thomas, who is it? Peter Thomas Roth, I have Rock, I have L'Oreal, I have you know, different types of cleansers well not so much a cleanser. I shouldn't say that, but I have like rose waters. I have things like that. I don't have a good cleanser. I don't have a toner. I guess what I'm looking for is a miracle because I have old skin. I should call it mature skin, but you know that is what my main concentration right now is. People have always told me and my dermatologist tells me I've got good skin, but I do have very dark circles and I do have eye bags. So one of my main concerns are the eye bags and the puffiness.
I would like to know, like, what's the pattern, like you just said, cleanse, tone, and so on. I know serums go on before moisturizers. Normally, you know, if it's lighter, it goes on first. I kind of want to follow a pattern and get into a more solid routine. I'm sort of tired of trying all these different products. I like the idea of things being natural. I know these are not. I've got Cerave in here, you know, I've just got a mixture of products. Basically, you name it I've got it. I continue to try things and waste my money. And sometimes they sit and I don't even know what works at this point because I have so much. So what I'd like to do is kind of just stick with something. And so I'm sort of, you know, just looking around at products to try to find something that I think I could stick with because like I said, I don't even know what's working for me anymore.
It's just kind of, you know, staying with the product and really doing something with the eyes. I do also need a really good facial cleanser and I've never toned. I'm also really interested in hearing about vitamin C to help with these dark spots as well.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Ok. Yeah, I mean I think you don't always have to stick with one line if you don't want to. You can mix and match a bit if you have one product you love from one line and another from a different one, but definitely, I think what you're saying is accurate that it can get a little overwhelming. And if you are using 15 different products from 15 different lines it can be hard to determine what is working and what is not.
So yes, it might be helpful to find kind of a routine that you can stick to for a while to really see how your skin does with it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: It’s funny, I actually used to work at a retail store that sold Peter Thomas Roth products.
Customer: Oh, did you? Yeah. The one from my dermatologist is H&H Science. And that's actually the main doctor there. It's been her development and they have a boutique. It’s a lovely boutique, you know, very expensive. And again, I don't even know if any of it's working.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Right. Okay. Well, thank you for sharing. We can definitely cover some of that.
What about anyone else? Did anyone want to share anything?
Customer: Can you hear me? Hi. Sorry about that. This little one is probably gonna squawk a lot while I'm talking. But I’ll give it a try.
I started using the facial oil for normal and combination skin I don't know maybe six months ago, and I had heard about your company from a friend who uses your products. I was interested in the sourcing and all of that and also I have a mild form of eczema on my face and my friend, who uses your products, told me that this fixed her eczema. And I was like, well that sounds great, because I was seeing a dermatologist and their recommendation was to prescribe steroids.
And I didn’t love the idea of putting steroids on my face in regular intervals to solve this, and if I can handle it in a more natural way, especially with children, that sounds so much better. And so I started using the facial oil like six months ago, and it really seemed to help clear up any time that I had dryness.
And I'm sure it's probably like hormone shifts and stuff. I had my son around the same time. And I recently stopped nursing. And so I know my hormones are doing all sorts of weird things. And I've started to get these red patches on either side of my nose. And I've noticed more dryness around my eyes, even with continuing to use the oil. So I didn't change anything in my routine. I think it's probably more hormone-related, but I was looking for any suggestions that you might have. For example, if there's a specific cleanser or something that you'd recommend me using along with the oil to try to maximize hydration and to help with the eczema.
I probably don't have time for a really full routine, but I'm like, I can add another thing. So I’m interested in what the next best thing to add with the oil that might be that would be the most helpful, if that makes sense.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, perfect. Does anyone else want to share? And then we can dive in.
Customer: Yes. Are you ready for me? I didn't want to interrupt.
Well, I wear a lot of different hats and I've always got a lot going on, you know so I try to just micromanage and do, you know, multiple tasks at the same time. So basically I have been using some natural products that I really love for quite some time. I am really into clean. I don't like to put a lot of harsh chemicals on my skin. I try to really read the ingredients and make sure that I'm paying attention. And a lot of the stuff I use, quite frankly, is very simple. Like pumpkin seed oil and castor oil, just very simple type stuff. But I do have a product with this one company that I absolutely love.
And they do have integrity like Annmarie and their products are very clean, but I haven't been able to find a face wash. They mostly have the charcoal. You know, like the soap and I'm not against that, but I feel like sometimes it kind of dries out my skin a little bit. So I had actually been using a product that I found from this gal. I can't remember the name of it, but I think she went out of business for whatever reason. And it was like an aloe cleanser. And it was very gentle and it was pure and I loved it, but I haven't been able to purchase it or to find it for a while now. I ran across you guys through Chris Wark and I thought, well, I'm going to check it out. And I saw that you guys had an aloe face wash, so I purchased it and I think there are some good things with it, but it's not, I don't feel it being as hydrating as the one that I was previously getting. So I'm kind of, I don't know, I feel like I'm still on the hunt for the perfect cleanser. I mean, to be honest with you, if I knew how to formulate, I would make my own because I have these ideas, but that's not my thing, you know? And I'm like, Oh my gosh, I wish I could come up with something because I too have the more, I call it the more seasoned skin. I just turned 60, so I also feel like, for the most part, my skin is, I get a lot of compliments on my skin, but it's not perfect. I'm also not looking for perfection. I'm just trying to keep my skin hydrated. I have a couple of dark spots. They're not a lot. And then I have, I think I have really thin skin around my eyes. So I've always had a tendency to, you know, it makes me look like I have black eyes sometimes, and I don't really know if there's ever going to be anything I can do about that because the skin is so thin, but I'm just all about clean products. So that's why I'm here today, hoping that I may learn something else. I don't know if you guys have another cleanser that might work well for me. And again, I did like the aloe one, but I’m just not quite as happy with it as I was with that other one I had used previously. I'm not saying it's bad. It's just not exactly what I was looking for. So I'm kind of disappointed, but I’m totally not trying to, you know, be ill against, you know, the line or anything. I love that you guys have this ethic. You know sustainability and clean products and everything. I fully support that. So I'm glad that you guys are doing that.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Of course. Well, okay. So let's start with cleansers because it sounds like everybody may need a cleanser. So if you're just looking to add one additional product and you have the facial oil then you would probably want to add a cleanser.
Because you know, the most basic routine that you want to have is the cleanser and the moisturizer. And then you could always add stuff from there. And I would actually probably recommend the Aloe Herb Cleanser for you, Abby. It would be what I think would be the best choice. So Grace is actually our sensitive skin poster child here at Annmarie Skin Care. So I can let her tell you a little bit about her skin, but I know she loves the Aloe Herb Cleanser.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Oh, I think that trend or that joke has caught on internally because now a lot of people say it. Which it's so true and it's fine. And I kind of love it, but I do have extremely sensitive skin. I also have extremely dry skin. I have a lot of food allergies. There's just usually a lot going on that needs help balancing out. And I use the Aloe Herb Cleanser every single day and I love it. One, because I love the smell of it. I can't get enough of it. I always say I want a candle in it because it smells so good. But also it really helps soothe any temporary redness and it just kind of helps calm it down which I love so much. Yeah, so I can't recommend it enough. I love it and I always have like three in my closet as backup. I'm afraid of running out.
Customer: That's helpful. Yeah, the redness, it's like I always had eczema around my eye, but in the last month, what started to pop is different and in different areas than I've ever seen it before. And I'm like, where did that come from?
So that sounds great. And that's very helpful. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, that'd be a good one to start with. So the Aloe Herb Cleanser is our best-selling cleanser.
Most people do love that one. It's a creamy, nourishing cleanser. It's of course an aloe vera base. Aloe is rich in vitamins and minerals, phytonutrients and enzymes. And then it's got some calendula in there, which is going to help soothe any temporary redness. It's got the lemon essential oil which is purifying and brightening, and it gives it that really lovely scent too that I think people like so much. It's got some coconut oil in there.
But all of that being said, we do have some other options. Since I know for at least one of you the Aloe Herb Cleanser was not exactly what you were looking for.
We totally understand that some products just don't work for some people, and that's totally fine. And it's hard when you had something that you really loved and you're kind of trying to find the same thing.
Customer: I know, like I said, I wish I could be a formulator.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: We do have two other cleanser options that you could take a look at if you wanted to. And I actually love all three of these options to be honest. I alternate between them.
In the Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Phytonutrient Cleanser. It's also a cream cleanser but it's a little bit richer. It has a mango seed butter in it. So it has this kind of almost fatty texture.
The scent profile is, I don't know, fruity. Is it fruity?
I mean, it's different from the Aloe Herb, which is sort of a citrusy scent. I don't have mine here with me right now to smell.
But as I said, it's a little bit thicker, a little bit richer than the Aloe Herb. So I would say this one is a little bit of a step up as far as the moisture. So, Glenda, it may be more of what you are looking for.
Customer: Oh, okay.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: And then it also has apple extract in it. So it is rich in vitamin C and malic acid, which is helpful for brightening the look of skin. And then what else is in this one? There's some acai. So a potent antioxidant. There's coconut oil in it as well. So all 3 of the cleansers we are talking about are good for more dry and mature skin types, but I would say the Phytonutrient, being in the Wild Alchemy Collection is kind of a step up from the Aloe Herb as far as activated ingredients with the apple extract in there. That acai, giving it that antioxidant component. Our signature serum blend. So that one is a really nice option.
And then lastly, also in the Wild Alchemy Collection, we do have the Restorative Cleansing Oil. And this I'll just mention because you were looking for more moisture from your cleanser and this is very moisturizing.
This product actually can be used for all skin types. I personally am a big fan of oil cleansing. You use this one a little bit differently than a traditional cleanser because it is an oil. So this one you're going to apply to dry skin with dry hands, massage it in. And then you can just rinse it and that can be it. This can be your only cleanser. And if you're going to use it that way, it feels very nourishing. It actually leaves like a bit of an oil on the skin, which some people like, some people don't like.
You can also use it as the first step in a double-cleanse routine. So you could cleanse with it first and then rinse it and then follow with your Aloe Herb Cleanser or your Phytonutrient or whatever.
It's got castor oil in it. It's a golden jojoba oil base. So jojoba very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. So it's a great choice. We say as a company that it's a great choice for dry and mature skin. I think it's a great choice for all skin. I love jojoba oil. This one also has some tea tree oil in it, so it's purifying as well. It's got manuka oil, which is very deep cleansing and calming.
So like I said, it can be used on its own. You can just massage it in and rinse or some people like to remove it with a warm towel or cloth. This one's great if you wear makeup, for removing makeup, for removing mascara, waterproof mascara, anything like that.
So those would be the three cleanser options that I would recommend for the group.
Customer: Does the Phytonutrient have tea tree in it as well? I can't use tea tree. So that's why I want to make sure that whatever I get does not have tea tree in it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. I am fairly certain the Phytonutreint does not have tea tree in it, but you can always double check the ingredient list on the product page before purchasing to make sure, if you are sensitive to a specific ingredient.
Customer: I actually have a cleansing oil, with clean ingredients. Products that I use from this other company. And I love it and I think it has a lot of similar ingredients. I don't have it in front of me, but my routine was always, I would use my aloe cleanser, then I would use the cleansing oil. And a lot of times what I would do, I would use the cleansing oil in the shower and I would put it on and just kind of leave it on while I'm, you know, washing and things. And then just gently tap my face so that I still could feel the cleanser after rinsing. I love it. It always makes it feel like I have that extra layer of moisture, you know the oils and that's why I like the castor oil and the Pumpkin seed oil. Years ago, I would think, oh, putting oil on your face, that seems contradictory to, you know, what you're trying to accomplish, but not anymore. I mean, I love it. I just, it's almost like my skin just totally loves it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I agree. I was kind of in the same boat. I struggled with acne quite a bit and I was like, no oil can touch my face and now I'm like, let me just bathe in oil, ha.
Customer: I know. And, my face just loves it and I love how it feels and it kind of gives me like a little glow.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So those would be your cleansers. And then the next step in your routine, if you were going to do a more full routine would be your toner.
So we have three toning mists in the line. We have the Neroli Toning Mist, the Rosemary Toning Mist, and the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. So your toner, none of our toners are harsh or stripping at all. They really are just offering a dose of hydration and skin-supporting nutrients.
Your toner also is going to help with absorption. So actually all of our toning mists on the packaging, say to mist, let it dry and then apply your serum and oil. I actually don't recommend that. I would mist and then while your skin is still damp from your toning mist, apply your serum. Your skin is kind of like a sponge so it's going to absorb better when it's a little bit damp.
It also is nice because it makes it so that it doesn't ever feel like your products are just kind of sitting on top of your skin. You know, they don’t feel heavy or greasy when they're absorbed properly. But of the three that we have, the Neroli Toning Mist, is our most popular. People love this one. It's in the Signature Collection. It's great for pretty much all skin types, normal, dry, mature, even a little bit of sensitivity. It's a very simple formula. The aloe vera juice base, the neroli essential oil which is derived from fresh orange blossoms. So it has a really lovely scent. This is again, I think part of why this one is so popular. And then some aspen bark extract, which acts as a natural preservative and is also a natural source of salicins.
And then, the Rosemary Toning Mist. This one is a more purifying mist. This is actually my personal favorite. It's for normal, combination, and oily skin types. Again its that really simple formula with the Aloe Vera and then the Rosemary. This one has white willow bark, which is another natural source of salicins.
And then lastly, the Botanical Hydration Mist, that one is in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one, any of you could choose. This one is excellent for sensitive skin. It has a blend of four different types of chamomile in it, so it's very soothing. This one has some rose in it and then this one also has the immortelle which is a really potent antioxidant. It's got frankincense as well, which is known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate. So it’s got more of those anti-aging properties. This one definitely has a more herbal scent profile versus the neroli, which is more of a sweeter scent profile. And then the rosemary, of course, smells like rosemary. So those are the toning mists.
And so again, after you cleanse, you would just pat your skin dry, mist your toning mist, and then while your skin is still damp with your toning mist, apply your serum and then apply your oil. You can also mist your toning mist throughout the day if you just want a boost of hydration, that little extra pick me up.
You can, I actually like to mist my toning mist after I apply my facial oil. It just helps to kind of like dilute it a little bit further so it just feels really nice on the skin. So those are the toning mists. Any questions about toning mists? They're kind of straightforward.
Okay, perfect. So then the next step in your routine would be your serum. We have several different serums. So serums are excellent hydrators. There's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water, and dry skin, which is skin that's lacking oil. Most people have a little bit of both.
A little bit of dehydration, a little bit of dryness. And so that's kind of why we tend to recommend a combination of hydrating products and moisturizing products. So your hydrating products are your serum and your toning mist, your moisturizing product is your facial oil. So serums are excellent hydrators.
They tend to be very concentrated. They tend to contain high levels of activated ingredients. So they allow you to really kind of target and treat what your specific concerns are. And we have a lot of different serums. So I'm trying to think what we should focus on so that we don’t need to go over all of them.
Okay. So for those in our group with the focus on signs of aging you would probably want to do either the Anti-Aging Serum. This one here. This is in our Signature Collection. This is one of our best selling products. It's probably the best-selling product. People love this one. This one is great really for all skin types. It's very antioxidant- rich. It's got life-everlasting flowers. It's got Buddleia extract. It's soothing and nurturing. There's some rose in there. And then this one is very hydrating. It's got our hyaluronic acid in it. So we use a non-GMO, vegetable-sourced, hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular holds 1,000 times its weight in water, so it's considered a super hydrator. So really deeply hydrating the skin is just going to kind of plump up the skin. Whereas if your skin is dehydrated, then it's going to emphasize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This one, the scent profile is more floral there's some vetiver in there as well. I feel like you can smell the vetiver in this one. But this is a great one really, like I said, for pretty much anybody. Good for dry, mature skin types. Very popular one.
And then I would say the other option, my personal favorite is the Wild Fruit Serum. This one is in the Wild Alchemy Collection. I love this one. I refer to it as our do-it-all serum because it's very hydrating, it's brightening, it's anti-aging, it does all the things. This one, it's got apple extract in it. So the same apple extract that's in the Phytonutrient Cleanser. So again, it is rich in vitamin C and malic acid.
This one has Madonna lily plant cells. We use plant-derived stem cells in a lot of our products. You'll find stem cells in a lot of skin care products, conventional ones, and sometimes they're derived from animals. Sometimes they're derived from humans. Ours are always plant-derived. And so these stem cells are providing proteins and peptides and amino acids and all of these things that are really helping to strengthen the skin, to increase resilience in the skin.
So this one has Madonna lily plant cells and there's a really dense infusion of those plant cells in here. There's about 1.5 million active plant stem cells in each bottle of this. This one also has knotweed in it, which is a really potent source of resveratrol. And then it's got kakadu plum.
So in addition to that apple extract that is brightening the look of skin, the kakadu plum is another really potent source of vitamin C. Kakadu plum also contains phenolic acid and phenolic acid behaves on the skin kind of similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acids have an exfoliating effect on the skin. They're kind of dissolving the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. So that helps to improve texture. It helps to improve tone. And this one, the scent profile, is more fruity, obviously. It's got copper-infused water in it. This one, like I said, I just feel like it's like a very all-encompassing serum, and it's my personal favorite.
So either of those would be a good choice. The Wild Fruit Serum is just kind of like the step up, in my opinion.
And then for those whose main concern is sensitivity and temporary redness, if you are going to incorporate a serum I would probably recommend either the Probiotic Serum with Tremella, which is in our Signature Collection or the Activated CBD Serum.
Both of these are really good for more sensitive skin types. This is Grace's other holy grail product, the CBD Serum. So the probiotic serum is good for sensitive skin and skin that's kind of out of balance. It has a probiotic ferment that helps to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin. It helps to balance the skin's pH. The tremella mushroom extract works very similarly to hyaluronic, very deeply hydrating the skin. This one has astaxanthin in it, which is a powerful antioxidant, and some olive leaf extract. I will say the scent profile on this one, some people don't like it. Some people think it smells like dirt. It's like an earthy scent. I think it smells good. I like it. I feel like if you have a really strong aversion to mushrooms maybe don’t choose this one.
And then the Activated CBD Serum. This one smells lovely. I don't know what to say that it smells like, but it smells very good. This one, it's really good for all skin types, but it's especially great for sensitive skin with the CBD in there.
I mean, this could be an option for any of you really, even if aging is your main concern. When we crafted this serum we of course wanted to source the best. So we partnered with Ojai Energetics that's where we source our CBD. They're really a pioneer and a leader in the CBD space. CBD, it's a little bit hard to say exactly what it does for the skin, because it works with your body's natural endocannabinoid system. So it kind of goes where it's needed to go and does what it's needed to do. But like I said, it has a gentle calming effect on the skin. If you have any kind of redness or irritation, anything like that, this can be a good choice. This one is a little bit thicker, it has a little bit creamier texture as well than some of our other serums that have that little bit more aqueous texture. So it's very hydrating. It's got the hyaluronic and it's got the tremella in there. Again, some potent antioxidants, the astaxanthin in this one. Superoxide dismutase in there. It's got black cumin seed oil and mangosteen oil, so this is an excellent one as well. And kind of again like with the Wild Fruit Serum, I tend to think of the Activated CBD Serum as a very all-encompassing serum, more overarching versus more targeted the way that some of the Signature Collection serums are.
So those would be the serum options. And so after you're toning mist, that's when you're going to apply your serum. You would just pump, you know, like a pump. Two pumps maybe and then you can just dot it on, massage it in. Some people like to kind of press it into the skin. Whatever works best for you.
So questions about serums at all?
Customer: I just have a general question. This is the a.m., p.m. routine that we're going over. So this is for both?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes. So that's your basic routine. That four-step routine is our basic recommendation for morning and evening.
Customer: And about how long do these products last if you're using them for both?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So if you go to our website, and if you look at any of the products, so say you look at the cleansing oil. It should say like benefits, suitable for, and then it says when to reorder. So that gives you kind of an idea of how long it should last. You know, it's not exact, obviously, but an idea.
And like I said, we will cover this four-step routine, the basic routine, and then we'll see where we're at time-wise. We can cover some other stuff if we have time. We, of course, have masks and exfoliants and eye products and all of these things. If you're wanting that more full routine, we've got it all.
Okay, so those are your serums, and then the final step in the four-step routine would be your facial oil. So as I said, all of our facial moisturizers are oils. Oils, we've chosen oils just because oils are more pure. They don't require any fillers or waxes to be used. They are easily absorbed by the skin.
Your skin's natural form of moisture is oil, so they're readily absorbed by the skin.
Also, if you go to the drugstore or wherever and you pick up a traditional cream or lotion, a lot of times one of the first ingredients is water, so that's a really easy thing that I tell people they can look for.
I mean it's not terrible, but usually ingredients are listed by level of concentration. So if water is the first ingredient, and then say whatever activated ingredient they're kind of marketing is at the bottom of the list, that's not usually great. You want those activated ingredients to be higher up, and you don't want most of your product to be water.
Also, if a product contains water, then they have to include more preservatives in the product so that bacteria doesn't grow. Whereas if you're using a pure oil, you don't have that issue. So that's why we love oils. And again, we have several different oils in the line. We can just kind of focus on probably what would be best for this group.
So I would say the first option would be the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. This one is in the Signature Collection. Again, very popular, one of our best sellers. This is a very nourishing, restorative facial moisturizer for dry and mature skin types. There's a bunch of different seed oils in here. There's carrot seed oil, broccoli seed oil, chia seed oil. I think there's even pumpkin seed oil. I was just thinking about that last night because it's pumpkin season. So chia is very rich in vitamin B and zinc, for example. This one has Plantago in it. It's that jojoba oil base. So again, very moisturizing.
So that would be a good option for the two in this group who are focusing on addressing signs of aging. And then the other option for you guys would probably be the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. Well, there's kind of two, but I try not to overwhelm people. The Rejuvenating Facial Oil, this one is the facial oil in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is excellent. I love this one. It's a jojoba oil base as well. And then it's got mongongo oil in there, which is really softening, very moisturizing. It's got baobab, which is brightening. Marula oil is really rich in antioxidants. It's got butterfly pea flower and blue tansy.
This facial oil is more active. It's more potent than any of our other facial oils. So I would not recommend this one for very sensitive skin. But this one, the way that we make it is a bit different. All of our other facial oils, in the herb infusion, there are a bunch of different herbs. There's probably, I don't know, 15 to 20 herbs, in the herb infusion for the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. And then there's a bunch of different seed oils and CO2 extracts and all of these things.
In this facial oil, we've included fewer of those things. So there's just one herb. It's the butterfly pea flower. And then there's far fewer of the seed oils and the CO2 extracts. And the reason for that is that then we could include them at higher concentrations. So it makes it more potent, more active, because they're in there at higher percentages. So this one I would say is our most potent facial oil. So that would be the other option.
There is kind of a third option right now, I'll just mention. I don't know if you'd be interested or not, but I do, me and Grace both love this one, so I'll mention it. The Divine Woman Elixir. This is in the Estate Blend Collection. The herbs for this product are grown on Moss Creek Farm, which is Kevin and Annmarie’s farmlet. So they are growing the herbs themselves and harvesting the herbs themselves. And so that's kind of what makes this product so special.
It is a limited edition product. So if you use it and you fall in love with it, you might not always be able to get it. But you probably will fall in love with it if you use it. I love it. It is a jojoba oil base again. It has just this really beautiful, light almost like lemony scent to it. So the scent profile is part of why I love it so much. In comparison to the Rejuvenating Oil, so these are both a jojoba oil base, even the anti-aging oil is a jojoba oil base as well. So similar as far as level of moisture, but the Rejuvenating has those more exotic, more globally sourced ingredients. The Divine Woman is kind of your more traditional, like, calendula, comfrey, I think there's lavender in here, and lemon balm I believe, so kind of your more traditional herbs, I guess you could say but again, I don't know, it's just a really beautiful facial oil. It smells amazing, it feels great on your skin, so it is one of my favorites. So, not to overwhelm you, but those of you who are focused on signs of aging, you could do any of these three facial oils and probably be very happy.
And then Abby, for your facial oil, so you're already using the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal & Combination Skin. That's an excellent choice. I will just also mention, because Grace and I both love it. The Radiate Facial Oil, I don't have it here at my desk. But that one can be a good option too for more sensitive skin types. That is in our Essentials Collection. Our Essentials Collection contains just two products. It's the Renew Cream Cleanser and the Radiate Oil.
These two products are offered at a lower price point than any of our other products. The reason for that is because they don't contain our herb infusions. So they're just really simple formulas. The crafting process is really simple. So, you know, if you're super focused on anti-aging, it might not be the best choice because they don't have a lot of those activated ingredients that you're looking for. But for more sensitive skin, it's a really beautiful one. Like I said, Grace and I both love it. It's one of our go-to’s. So that could be another one that you might want to check out.
Customer: Can I ask a quick question? The Radiate moisturizing oil, does it have any kind of a scent to it or not really?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I would say that it does have a scent, right? Wouldn’t you agree, Grace? But it's mild. It is definitely not strong or overpowering. I feel like that's part of why I gravitated towards it at first because I just personally don't love the scent profile of the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. It's like a little too much for me and the Radiate scent is so much more mild.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Yeah, I don't really know how to explain it. It's just clean smelling. It's just very light but also lovely at the same time.
Customer: Sure, that's helpful. I think I was curious because when I first ordered the facial oil, I got the one for sensitive skin and I didn't love the scent. And I talked to someone when I wanted to exchange it and they were like, yeah, sometimes people don't like the scent of just the base oils. And they said, a lot of people like the scent of the normal, combination one. And so I tried that one and I love the smell of that one. And so I was curious if the Radiate smells similar to the sensitive skin one.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yea, I think the scent is different.
Okay, so that would be your basic routine with your cleanser, toner, serum, and oil. So did anybody have questions about anything at this point?
No? Okay. So we'll move on because I do want to touch on eye products since that was mentioned and then I also want to touch on exfoliants as well.
Oh, and I did want to talk about the Brighten Elixir because I know one of you had asked about our vitamin C. This product was actually just launched to be sold on its own. We have our set of Concentrated Boosting Elixirs that we've had for a while now.
But now the Brighten is available on its own, which I love. And then the Hydrate, you can also purchase that one on its own if you want to.
So these elixirs are to be mixed. You never apply any of them directly to the skin because they are very concentrated. We recommend mixing with a serum, but if for some reason you are not using a serum, you could also mix with an oil.
There are many different types of vitamin C out there, but the one that we have chosen to use in our Brighten Elixir is tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. The reason that we've chosen that particular vitamin C, well there's a few reasons, but it's a very stable form of vitamin C, we have a blog on it, we could probably find it for you and link it in the chat, but like I mentioned there's a bunch of different forms of vitamin C and some of them are not stable. So then if it's not stable, when you open the product and it's exposed to air, it goes rancid really quickly and then it's not effective. So this particular vitamin C, the THDA, is very stable. It's also a very non-irritating form of vitamin C. Sometimes vitamin C products can be a little bit harsh. They can be irritating if you have any sort of sensitivity. This one's very non-irritating. It's a pH of seven, which is the same as water. It's also oil-soluble. So this is an excellent product and it's just the vitamin C with seabuckthorn in jojoba. So this is an excellent vitamin C product. I love this one. So you could mix that in with something like your Wild Fruit Serum if you were really wanting to boost the brightening benefits of your serum. So there's that. Okay, now we'll talk about exfoliants.
So we have several different exfoliants in the line, but we'll talk about the Radiant C first.
This is our most recent exfoliant that we added to the line, and it's a really fun product. It's the Radiant C Mask & Polish. I love this product because it's a multitasker. So you can use it in a bunch of different ways. It's a dry powder.
So you just shake it into the palm of your hand. And then you can mix it with water. So you would do this after you cleanse. You would just shake it into the palm of your hand, and mix it with a little bit of water to kind of create a paste, buff it into the skin, and then rinse it clean. You can also mix it right in with your cleanser.
So you can mix it in with your Aloe Herb Cleanser or your Phytonutrient Cleanser. So you can cleanse and exfoliate all at once, which I love. And then it's also multitasking because you can use it as a mask if you want to. So you can mix it with water, leave it on for like 15 minutes, and then rinse and remove.
You can mix it with different things. For masking, you can mix it with honey, raw honey or manuka honey is excellent. You can mix it with yogurt. You can mix it with another mask, like our Illuminating Pearl Mask is really popular and it mixes beautifully with that. It's an excellent brightening treatment.
What else with this one?
Customer: How often do you use this? How often would this be done?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: It kind of depends on your skin, but probably like three-ish times a week? You could start out with two times a week, see how it's feeling. You could maybe bump it up to three if it's feeling good.
Customer: Is it for nourishment? Is that what it is for? Or is it pulling stuff out of your skin?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: It’s really doing both. It’s got the hibiscus, which is nourishing and it does contain some clays to purify. It's also an exfoliant. Exfoliants are going to refine the skin's texture. They're going to prevent any kind of buildup on the skin.
If you get that layer of buildup, it can prevent your treatment products from being absorbed properly to work effectively.
It's very rich in vitamin C. There's a bunch of different fruit extracts in here.
It also has hibiscus powder, so it gives it this really beautiful fuchsia color. Hibiscus is moisturizing and it also contains alpha hydroxy acids to exfoliate.
This product is both a physical and a chemical exfoliant in one, which is something else that I love about it. The physical exfoliating property in this one is a bamboo stem powder. It's pretty gentle. It's a pretty fine grit. Then you're getting a little bit of a chemical exfoliant as well from that hibiscus and then the fruit enzymes and acids that are in here. There's acerola cherry, strawberry, lemon peel powder, kakadu plum.
So you can use this as an exfoliant, like I said mixing it with water or mixing it with your cleanser, you could do that probably three times a week. If you're using it as a mask, you could probably do it two times a week. Again, just play around with it and find what feels best for your skin.
There are some clays in here too. So you get the purification from the clays, also any type of clay is going to be very mineral rich. So yeah, it's a really fun product. I love it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: And then, we do have a bunch of other exfoliants as well.
The Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, this one is very, very gentle so Abby, if you wanted to incorporate an exfoliant, I would probably recommend the Ayurvedic, though you probably could try the Radiant C, I know that Grace uses the Radiant C and has no issue with it. The Ayurvedic, this one is also a dry powder, and it's very, very gentle, pretty much anybody can use this one.
This one, again, you can mix with your cleanser, you can mix with water and this one is also very mineral rich. It's got fenugreek in it. That's the exfoliating property in this one. That's what gives it its little bit of grit. But again, very gentle, very mineral-rich, and great for sensitive skin.
The Kaolin Micro Exfoliant, this one is very popular. People love this one. I use this one often. I feel like just because it's really easy to incorporate into your routine. I keep it in my shower and just use it in the shower. This one is a cream exfoliating scrub.
So it's a creamy texture. It's a kaolin clay base. This one also has crushed bamboo powder, that’s the exfoliating component in this one. So again, a fine grit to it. It’s got lavender in it so the scent profile is lavender.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: It is really nice. I mean, it's very popular. People love this one. I think people just like that feel of that true scrub, you know?
And this one, again, most people would use this like three times a week probably.
And then the last exfoliant that we have is the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant. That's this one here. That’s in the Wild Alchemy collection. This one is a chemical exfoliant. So the other ones that we talked about, the Kaolin and the Ayurvedic, are both strictly physical exfoliants. They're just physically polishing the skin with that grit.
Customer: Can I ask you a question, Emily, about the kaolin?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, of course. That one sounds really lovely to me, but what do you think for a more seasoned skin for that one?
I think it's fine. It's recommended for mature skin as well.
Customer: Oh, okay great.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: The only skin type we don't recommend it for is sensitive, but I actually don't even agree with that because I know that Grace uses it and has no issue. She mixes it with her Aloe Herb Cleanser.
So it's great for mature skin as well.
Customer: Okay. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Absolutely. And so yeah, these are both strictly physical and then this one is both physical and chemical, and this one is strictly chemical. So chemical in the way that it's working on the skin, not that it contains a bunch of chemicals.
The exfoliating property in this one is a honey-derived lactic acid. And it's a smooth gel texture so there's no scrub or grit to it. And you just apply it to clean skin. So you would cleanse your face, pat it dry and then apply this and you leave it on for just two to three minutes to start is usually what we recommend.
And then you can work your way up to using it for 10 minutes. It just kind of depends on how sensitive your skin is. But yeah, and this one, it kind of varies. Some people use it and say it feels very active, it feels very tingly. Some people use it and say they don't feel anything at all.
I'm not sensitive, and I feel the tingle for sure. This one you would only use once a week. If you were going to use this one, you would use it in the evening, and you would use it with an SPF during the day. Because it does have that, like I said, that honey-derived lactic acid. Lactic acid is a very mild alpha hydroxy acid.
So again, kind of dissolving that glue that holds that top layer of skin. So those are the exfoliants.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, great. So then let's touch on eye products really quickly.
Customer: Can I ask a question before we move on because I have to jump off for a meeting. I think right now, the only question I have is which toner I would get. I'm not sure if I'd go with the one that's like orange blossom or the herbal-scented one.
So which one do you think would be best for me?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I think that really you could be fine with either of them. I don't know if you are a scent person, but as I mentioned the botanical one's more herbal and the neroli is more sweet smelling. So that could be a deciding factor.
I mean the Botanical Hydration Mist, I would say it's a little bit of a step up as far as anti-aging ingredients go because it does have the immortelle and the frankincense in there. The neroli is lovely too though. It's just the more simple formula. It’s just the aloe, the neroli and the aspen bark.
Customer: Okay. Great. Thank you. And as far as brightening the look of dark spots you recommend using that Brighten Elixir that you talked about?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, that is a great product to incorporate. And then of course, if you're working on brightening, if you're working on dark spots, pigmentation, anything like that, you do want to also incorporate some type of SPF product.
Customer: Right. I use that all the time. Do you have an SPF product?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes. This is our Sun Love. It's an everyday sheer sunscreen. It's an SPF 20. It's a non-nano zinc oxide. It's reef safe. It's got pumpkin seed oil and burriti fruit oil, so it feels very nourishing.
Customer: Yeah, I had a melanoma back in 2013. So, I've been seeing a dermatologist forever and a day, ever since I was 18, because my skin is so fair. So I use sunscreen every single day.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Perfect.
Oh, you know what else we didn't talk about? Geez, this went so quick. We only have five minutes left. We didn't talk about the night serum.
Okay, let me just mention the Activated Night Serum really quickly because this is an excellent option if your focus is anti-aging.
This is a newer product. It does contain our bioactive A complex, which is our alternative to a retinol. It's derived from algae, so it's a completely safe ingredient. It's a Made Safe approved ingredient. But it does have a similar effect on the skin, that like resurfacing, renewing, rejuvenating effect that you get from a traditional retinol. And it's really lovely. It's super hydrating. Again, that kind of thick, rich texture. It's got some lavender and some blue chamomile in it, so those really soothing, calming ingredients. It's a nice balance between those soothing ingredients and the activated bioactive A. But this is an excellent one to incorporate if you're really focusing on signs of aging, and you would just use this only at night. So you would use in the morning, like your Wild Fruit Serum or your Anti-Aging Serum, and then you would use this one at night.
Customer: And always In place of those? or in addition to?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: In place of.
Customer: Okay.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: And you would always use this one with an SPF too. You want to make sure you're using SPF with that one. But I did want to mention that.
And then the only other thing I was going to talk about was the eye products. We have the Anti-Aging Eye Cream and the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum.
Both are excellent. I tend to tell people if you're going to choose one or the other, I prefer the eye cream.
This one feels very nourishing. I always feel super dry in my eye area. So this one's more nourishing. It's got damas rose plant cells in there, the cucumber distillate, so great for puffiness.
The Fruit Ceramide, so this one is a serum. So again, that thinner consistency, smaller molecule, really hydrating, whereas the eye cream is more moisturizing.
If your eye area is your main concern. They can be used together. You can layer the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum underneath the eye cream. Or you could alternate and use the Fruit Ceramide in the morning and the Anti Aging Eye Cream at night.
With the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, make sure that you're only using a very tiny bit. You don't need very much of this. If you overuse it, it just doesn't apply nicely. So you only need a very small amount. This one has pineapple ceramides and sake peptides. The sake peptides can be helpful for the darkened areas under the eye.
Also, I always tell people for the eye area, you know, if puffiness or anything like that is a concern you can maybe incorporate some Gua Sha or jade rolling, which can be helpful.
We do have two different Gua Sha stones. And then we actually don't sell our jade roller anymore, but you can get them all over the place and they're kind of a similar idea, but the jade rolling, I would say is a little bit more simple, a little bit more user friendly.
A lot of jade rollers have a larger roller on one side and a smaller roller on the other side. And so it's really easy to just use that smaller roller and just roll outwards. It can be a really quick, easy thing to incorporate that can be helpful for the look of puffiness. Because of course, I think products are wonderful, but you know, they only go so far. We're not getting Botox and, you know, doing things like that.
Customer: No.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So that could be something to look into as well that could be helpful for the under-eye area. And with the Gua Sha, you can find really detailed tutorials, even ones that are just for the eye area.
But yeah, something else that you could check into if you wanted to, that could be helpful for that.
Customer: This has been very lovely. I've got to run, but thank you so much. I will place an order.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Good. Well, thank you so much guys. It was so nice to meet you all. And if you do have other questions, you can always email us.
