Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: And then from there we can jump into products and routines and all of that. So the basic four step routine that we recommend for just about everybody is cleanse, tone, serum, and moisturize, or facial oil. All of our facial moisturizers are oils. So that's kind of a basic four step routine that we recommend both morning and evening. I always like to tell people you know, just really customize your routine based on your skin, based on your lifestyle. So if you are somebody who currently has no routine, you're probably not going to jump into a six step routine that takes you 30 minutes morning and night, so you could just start really simple and kind of work on being consistent with that and then build your way up from there. The most pared down routine, the most simple routine that you would want to have is at least a cleanser and a moisturizer. So a cleanser and a facial oil that would be kind of your most basic routine. So if you're going on a trip, like somebody had mentioned, you would want to make sure you pack at least a cleanser and a facial oil for your trip.
So no matter what, if you have two steps in your routine or if you have 10 steps, you're going to start your routine with cleansing. So we'll start with our cleansers and the cleansing step. So cleansing is going to, of course, just remove makeup and impurities. A thorough cleanse is going to help to prep the skin so that it can better absorb your treatment products that you're using. We do have four cleansers in the line: the Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Citrus Mint Cleanser, the Phytonutrient Cleanser and the Restorative Cleansing Oil. We'll probably just cover like three of them because I don't think anybody in the group is concerned with oily skin and congestion. Is that correct? A little bit? Okay, we could just touch on some of the other ones quickly then. So before we even jump into the four cleansers, let me just touch on collections really quickly because within the line we do have a couple of different collections.
The two main collections that we have are the Signature Collection. All of the Signature Collection products have the tan labeling. And a lot of these products are our best selling products. A lot of them are products that have been around since we first got started.
And then the other main collection is the Wild Alchemy Collection. So all of those products have this black and gold labeling. This is our luxury collection. And what makes it our luxury collection is just that these products contain higher levels of activated ingredients. They also contain more exotic ingredients. So more activated ingredients like our bioactive A complex and our pure vitamin C (THDA). And then more exotic ingredients like mongongo oil and baobab oil. And then also the crafting process, the way those products are made is usually a little bit more laborious than some of our Signature Collection products.
And then I will mention, just because it could be an option for some people in this group, our Essentials Collection as well. The Essentials Collection is just two products. It's the Renew Facial Cream Cleanser and the Radiate Facial Oil. These two products are offered at a lower price point than any of our other products. And the reason for that is just that they're very simple products. They're simple formulas. They don't contain our herb infusions, like our other products do, but they can be a good option for somebody who maybe is just getting started on a routine and wants something really simple. They also can be a good option for somebody who is more sensitive. I know that Grace and I both really like the Radiate Facial Oil that is in that collection. It's one of our go to products.
So the four cleansers though, the main four cleansers that we've got, the Aloe Herb Cleanser, this is the first one that we'll talk about. This one is in our Signature Collection. This is a great cleanser, really for anybody. It's a great place to start if you are feeling after this call, like, oh my God, I'm so confused. I'm so overwhelmed. I don't know where to start. The Aloe Herb Cleanser really is a great choice for anybody. It's good for all skin types. It's a creamy, nourishing, pH balanced cleanser. Actually all of our cleansers are pH balanced which is important because a pH balanced cleanser is going to ensure that you're not stripping your skin, you're not drying out your skin, you're not disrupting your skin's natural protective barrier, your acid mantle. Your skin's pH is a 4. 5 to a 5. 5 on the pH scale and our cleansers have a pH of 5. 5 to a 5. 6, which is actually printed on our packaging. So the Aloe Herb, like I said, is great for anybody, a pH balanced cream cleanser, it's very nourishing, it leaves the skin feeling clean but never tight or dry. That one is the aloe vera, of course, which is rich in vitamins and minerals, phytonutrients and enzymes. That one has calendula in it, so it has a soothing, calming effect on the skin. That one has coconut oil which kind of contributes to that creamy texture. And then it's got some lemon essential oil too, which is purifying and brightening and also gives it a really lovely scent. I think people, a lot of why they like that one too is because it smells so nice. So that's the Aloe Herb Cleanser.
And then the Citrus Mint Cleanser, that's the other one in our Signature Collection. I don't know that anybody here would need that one. That one's more for oily skin—normal, combination, and oily, but that's a purifying gel cleanser. So again, an aloe base, but then just more of a purifying herb blend. It feels very cool and refreshing on the skin.
And then in the Wild Alchemy Collection we have two. We have the Restorative Cleansing Oil and the Phytonutrient Cleanser. The Phytonutrient Cleanser, that one is also a cream cleanser, like the Aloe Herb Cleanser. It's a little bit thicker, like a little bit richer, almost fattier texture, I would say, than the Aloe Herb Cleanser. It also has coconut oil in it. It's got some acai in there. So giving it an antioxidant property. We’ve got our Signature Serum Blend in that one. That one also has apple extract in it. So the apple extract is going to be great for brightening. It's got vitamin C and malic acid to help to brighten the look of skin. So that one is kind of our most, like, complex cleanser, I guess you could say. And I always, I like to encourage people to really, with any cleanser that you're using, kind of take your time as you cleanse, really thoroughly massage it into the skin. But especially that one with that apple extract in there and the Signature Serum Blend, you kind of want to let it be on the skin for just a minute before you rinse it.
And then lastly, the Restorative Cleansing Oil. This one is also in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is a little bit different. All of the other cleansers are pretty traditional cleansers in the way that you use them. You would dampen your skin, pump your cleanser into the palm of your hands, massage it in, just rinse clean and pat dry. This one's a little bit different because it is an oil. It's an oil cleanser. So you can use this on its own or you can use it as the first step in a double cleanse routine. If you use it on its own, you just massage it in. So you apply this one to dry hands, dry face. Massage it in, and then you can just rinse it off. And then if you want to, you can follow it with a second cleanser. So if you want to use it as the first step in a double cleanse, that's what you would do. This one really is great for all skin types. For dry and mature skin. It feels very nourishing. It actually leaves a little bit of an oil on the skin. Some people like that. Some people don't. But even for oily or congested skin, it can be great as well because like attracts like, so it's going to help to break down, soften up excess oil and congestion in the skin. This one, it's a jojoba oil base. So jojoba very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural oil, your skin's natural sebum. And then it's got some castor oil in there. This one has tea tree oil, which is purifying. And then it's also got manuka oil in it which is really deep cleansing and calming to the skin. This one I love. I'm obsessed with Manuka. I'm obsessed with a jojoba, so it's all the wonderful things in one cleanser. So those are the cleansers.
Customer: So Emily, you said that the Phytonutrient is the only one that has a serum, so out of the Phytonutrient and the cleansing oil, which would be better for older skin?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Really, either would be great. I would probably lean towards the Phytonutrient. I love that one and like I said, it's just our most active cleanser. With the apple extract and acai in there. So I would probably choose that one. It's definitely one of my go-to’s.
Any other cleanser questions? Okay, cool. All right, so then after you cleanse, you would rinse, pat your skin dry, and then use your toning mist. You would just mist it over your face and neck. We have three different ones, the Rosemary Toning Mist, the Neroli Toning Mist, and the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle.
The Rosemary and the Neroli, those are the two in our Signature Collection. Both of these are an aloe vera juice base. They're very simple formulas. The Neroli then has the neroli essential oil, which is derived from fresh orange blossoms. So it has a really lovely scent. Another reason I think this is one of our most popular products. And then this one has some aspen bark extract in there, which is a natural source of salicins. It also acts as a natural preservative in the product.
Your toning mist is just going to help to complete the cleansing process. It's going to offer a dose of skin supporting nutrients and hydration. Applying your serum and oil when your skin is still slightly damp from your toning mist is also helpful for better absorption of your products. I think somebody mentioned in their survey that they feel like their products just kind of sit on their skin and are not absorbed well, so using a toning mist can be helpful and applying your serums and oils when your skin is still slightly damp can be really helpful as well. This one is great for all skin types, normal, dry, mature, sensitive.
The Rosemary Mist, this one is more of a purifying mist. So this one's more for normal, combination, and oily skin types. I actually love the Rosemary Mist. It's my favorite, but I'm more of a congestion prone girly.
And then the last one we have is the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. This is the one in our Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is a larger size too, just to show you. A side note. But this one is a hydrosol base. The other two are the aloe vera juice. A hydrosol is like this watery runoff that you get when you create an essential oil through a steam distillation. So it gives it kind of this really nice soft texture. Maybe it's even a little bit more moisturizing, I would say, than the others. This one also is excellent for very sensitive skin. This one has a blend of four different types of chamomile in it. This one also has frankincense in it, so known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin. This one has, of course, immortelle, or life everlasting flowers which are a potent antioxidant. So that is the Botanical. This one, the scent profile is definitely a little bit more herbal, whereas the scent profile of the Neroli with the neroli oil in there is a little bit sweeter.
And the Rosemary Mist of course smells like rosemary.
But that's the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. And so those are the three toning mists. And like I said, you just cleanse, pat your skin dry, mist your face and neck, then apply your serum while your skin is still slightly damp from your toning mist. That is my recommendation.
Any questions about toners? They're kind of straightforward. You can also mist your toning mist throughout the day if you just want a little pick me up, a little extra hydration. I can't live without a toning mist.
Customer: Emily, somebody said something or maybe it was a blog or something saying that you could use the toning mist as a setting spray?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, like for makeup you mean right?
Customer: Yeah.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Absolutely, you can. We actually just did a live makeup shopping event recently. And one of the girls on our team was saying that she likes to use the Botanical Hydration Mist as her setting spray. I don't wear makeup often, but I have done that before on occasion when I do have makeup on. Any other toner questions?
Okay so the next step in your routine would be serum. So I feel like serums and oils are where things can get a little bit confusing just because we have a lot of them. So your serum in general, serums are excellent hydrators. So there's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that is lacking water, and dry skin, which is skin that is lacking oil. Most people have a combination of both. A little bit of dehydration, a little bit of dryness. So that's why we recommend the combination of hydrating products. and moisturizing products. So your toning mist and your serum, those are your hydrators. And then your facial oil, that is your moisturizer. So serums are excellent hydrators. They also contain high levels of activated ingredients, higher concentrations of activated ingredients. So they allow you to really customize your routine to kind of target and treat whatever your specific concerns are. They also are made up of a smaller molecule than a facial oil, so they're able to penetrate more deeply to get those activated ingredients deeper into the skin.
So in our Signature Collection, we have three. We have the Anti-Aging Serum, the Citrus Stem Cell Serum, and the Probiotic Serum With Tremella.
The Anti-Aging Serum. This is very popular. This is probably our best selling product. People love this one. It's great for all skin types. Similar to the Aloe Herb Cleanser, I tell people if you're confused, if you're overwhelmed, if you don't know where to start, this can be a good one to choose because it's really great for all skin types. You just really can't go wrong with it. I refer to this one as a daily dose of overall skin nutrition. It's very antioxidant rich. It's got buddleia extract. It's got life everlasting flowers. It's got some rose in there as well, so nurturing and soothing for the appearance of temporary redness. And then this one has hyaluronic acid. So we use a non GMO vegetable source, hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular holds 1,000 times its weight in water. So it's considered a super hydrator. So really deeply hydrating the skin is going to kind of plump the skin so it'll help to minimize the appearance of fine lines versus if your skin is dehydrated it's going to emphasize the appearance of fine lines. So that's the Anti-Aging. This one, the scent profile is a little bit floral and then I feel like the vetiver you can smell a little bit in there as well.
The Citrus Stem Cell Serum, that one it's also good for all skin types but especially for thicker textured skin or like, you know, sort of leathery skin that's had a lot of exposure to the elements, a lot of sun exposure. This one can be great for targeted brightening. So there's kind of two components to the Citrus Stem Cell Serum. There are the citrus derived stem cells. So we use plant derived stem cells in all of our products. We use plant derived stem cells in several of our products, I should say. Conventional skin care lines that include stem cells in their products can sometimes use stem cells that are derived from animals or even humans. All of ours are plant derived. In this serum, like I said, they're citrus derived. And these stem cells are going to provide the skin with proteins and peptides and amino acids that are going to help to really strengthen the skin to increase resilience. And then the other kind of aspect of the Citrus Stem Cell Serum is the brightening aspect. So this serum has a brightening trio. It’s the amla berry which is very rich in vitamin C. The Licorice Root and the Uva Ursi. Which are both lightening and brightening ingredients. Licorice Root is actually used a lot of times as an alternative to using hydroquinone to brighten the look of dark spots. So that's the Citrus Stem Cell.
And then the last one is the Probiotic Serum With Tremella, the last one in the Signature Collection, sorry. So this one, again, good for all skin types, but especially for sensitive skin or skin that's kind of out of balance. It has the tremella mushroom extract in it, which acts similar to a hyaluronic acid. And then this one has olive leaf extract in there as well. It's got astaxanthin, which is a really powerful antioxidant. And then it's got a probiotic ferment in it. So the probiotic ferment can help to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin, and it can help to kind of balance the skin's pH. So that's the Probiotic. This one, the scent profile, some people don't like it. I like it. It smells sort of earthy. Some people say it smells like dirt. I think it smells nice. But that's the Probiotic Serum. So those are the three serums in the Signature Collection.
Then, in the Wild Alchemy Collection, we have a few different ones. The first one is the Wild Fruit Serum. I just have this little tiny guy here, but the Wild Fruit Serum is great for all skin types. This one I love. It's probably my favorite. It's more of a fruity scent profile too, which I like the smell of. This one has got a copper infused water. This one has got knotweed extract, which is really rich in resveratrol. It's got apple extract, so it's the same apple extract that's in the Phytonutrient Cleanser. So rich in vitamin C and malic acid to help with brightening the look of skin. This one has Madonna lily plant cells. So again, the plant stem cells. And it has a really dense infusion of those plant cells. So I believe it's 1. 5 million active plant stem cells in each little bottle of the Wild Fruit Serum. And then what else? This one has kakadu plum extract in it as well. So kakadu plum extract is a very potent source of vitamin C. It also contains phenolic acid. Phenolic acid behaves on the skin similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. So alpha hydroxy acids kind of dissolve the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. So it has a resurfacing effect on the skin, like an exfoliating effect on the skin. So that's the Wild Fruit Serum. Like I said, I love that one.
Because we have so many serums, people often wonder how to choose the best one. I tend to think of the Signature Collection Serums as a bit more targeted and then the Wild Alchemy serums, the Wild Fruit and Activated CBD Serum as more all-encompassing. I often refer to our Wild Fruit Serum as our “do-it-all” serum.
So that's the Wild Fruit. Then, which one should we talk about next? Okay, then we'll do Activated CBD. So our Activated CBD Serum sometimes I talk about this one, sometimes I don't, just because I try not to overwhelm people, but this could be an option possibly for whoever had mentioned the skin irritation issue they were having.
This one, it's great for all skin types. It's sold in its own boutique on our website, which is just because of the legality of selling a CBD product. But like I said, this one it's good for all skin types, but especially sensitive skin or reactive skin. This one, when we created this serum, we wanted to source the best, of course. So we partnered with Ojai Energetics to source our CBD. They are really a leader and a pioneer in the CBD space. This one contains, both a water soluble and a fat soluble CBD, which is kind of unique and kind of sets it apart from a lot of other CBD products on the market. The water soluble CBD is absorbed more quickly, so it has more of an instant effect. And then the fat soluble CBD is absorbed kind of more slowly over time. So it has more of a cumulative effect. This one is very hydrating. It's a little bit thicker and richer texture than the other serums. Our other serums are a little bit more aqueous. This one has the hyaluronic and then it's also got the tremella. So it’s very hydrating. This one's very antioxidant rich. It's got the astaxanthin. It's got superoxide dismutase as well, which is another powerful antioxidant. It's got some black cumin seed oil. It's got mangosteen oil. I never really know how to describe the scent profile of this one, but it smells lovely. And I will let Grace talk about it because this is one of her holy grail products, she says.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Oh, I do love that product. So some background…I have very sensitive skin. I'm also extremely dry no matter what time of the year it is. So there's just usually just a lot going on that needs help getting balanced out and then I have food sensitivities, which also comes out of my skin, and then I'm a little bit congestion prone, so it's just like all over the place. And the one thing I really love about the Activated CBD Serum is kind of, what Emily was talking about a little bit, it kind of goes where it's needed, which is fantastic for someone like me who has a lot going on. It just really helps with the redness. It really helps soothe the skin. I really can't say enough good things about it. I have had such a hard time before I was with the Annmarie team finding skin care that actually helped soothe my skin and not made it worse in the long term. And this has been one of those products that has only benefited, benefited me from the beginning. From when I started it to the present day I've had no issues and the hydrating factor is also just chef's kiss. It's just perfection for sensitive skin.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Perfect. Thanks, Grace. Okay, so that's the CBD. And then just one more before we pause for questions. So the last serum is the Activated Night Serum.
And this one is also in our Wild Alchemy Collection. This is our most recent serum launch. It's fantastic. This one contains our bioactive A complex, so this is our version of/our alternative to a retinol or a retin A or anything like that. Retinoids are sort of considered the gold standard in anti-aging but they are not great for your health. They're not great for skin health or even just overall health. They can be harmful to reproductive health. For your skin, they can be really irritating. They can be tough to use if you have more sensitive skin. If you're using them over an extended period of time, they can thin the skin. Which isn't what we want as we age. We don't want thin the skin, we want to help to support the skin's natural barrier to create really healthy, resilient skin. So the Activated Night Serum contains the bioactive A complex. The bioactive A complex is derived from algae. So it's a completely safe ingredient. It's a Made Safe approved ingredient. And it's going to have a similar effect on the skin as a traditional retinol, so it's going to have that kind of resurfacing effect on the skin, helping with renewal, to improve texture and tone. So it can be really great for signs of aging and then also for improving the look of dark spots, pigmentation, that sort of thing. Let's see, this one in addition to the bioactive A, we've got some really nice soothing, calming ingredients here. It's got lavender, it's got blue chamomile. So it's a really nice balance of that activated ingredient with those really soothing, calming ingredients. You do want to make sure that you're using this one at night and that you're using it with an SPF during the day because it can make you more sensitive to the sun.
This one also has that kind of thick, rich texture similar to the CBD serum. So again, very hydrating this one. And even Grace, who has very sensitive skin can use this one.
Okay, so I think those are all the serums. Questions about serums? Like I said, I know there's a lot of them.
Customer: I have a question. So, I've been using the anti-aging oil. And I find that that really does help with dark spots and redness like around the nose and the chin. But it sounds like the Activated Night Serum could be even more effective.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: What are your main concerns? Because you are mentioning redness, so I am wondering if sensitivity is more your concern?
Customer: It's just because I'm fair hair, you know, red hair and so I just tend to have red areas on my chin and around my nose, it's not like an irritation. It's not a rash. It's just part of my complexion. I'm mostly concerned about overexposure to the sun. I have a dark spot on my nose and on the sides of my face.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, okay. Got it.
Customer: And wrinkles too.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Ok. Then, yes, the night serum would be a great choice. Like I said, that one is great for addressing signs of aging and it's also great for dark spots and lightening the look of dark spots. And if you tend to be more sensitive, you can always start out by using that one maybe a couple times a week as opposed to every night and see how your skin does with it. But yes, like I said, definitely for the fine lines, signs of aging, dark spots, that's an excellent choice. And it can be nice because that one obviously you just use at night and a lot of times people because we have so many serums and they have a hard time choosing and they want to use more than one, so you can choose a different one to use in the morning. Maybe you just want to use the Anti-Aging Serum in the morning and then the Activated Night Serum at night or the Wild Fruit Serum in the morning and the Activated Night in the evening. That way you are incorporating more than one of our serums into your routine.
Customer: If I wanted to pare down my routine and just take one serum on a trip with me could I use the night serum both morning and night for 10 days?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: No. I would not. You don't want to use it during the day because it can increase sensitivity to the sun. And then you are kind of negating the benefits a bit. I would stick to using that one just in the evening.
Any other questions? Good questions. All right, cool. How about elixirs? Do you guys want me to cover elixirs or do you feel like, woo, I'm already overwhelmed, I don't care about elixirs.
Okay, we'll cover them quickly.
So these are the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs. Like I said, they sort of fall into the category of serums. They come in this set of three and they're just kind of a fun extra product. So people a lot of times ask, do I need to get the elixirs? You really don't need the elixirs. They're just kind of extra. So they're great for allowing you to increase the level of activated ingredients in your routine. They also can allow you to customize your routine even more. They are never to be applied directly to the skin. They are always to be mixed. So you mix them with your serum. Or if for some reason you were not using a serum, you could mix them with your facial oil. They come in this set of three. They come with the Hydrate, the Brighten, and the Revitalize. And they have this little dropper top. So you just would pump your serum into the palm of your hand. You would drop one to three drops of your elixir in with your serum. And you can either, you know, dot on and rub it in. Or you can kind of press it in, whatever is your preference. The Hydrate is a pure hyaluronic acid with vegan collagen pre peptides. So like we talked about, hyaluronic is very deeply hydrating. The peptides are helping to strengthen the skin. The Brighten is a pure vitamin C with seabuckthorn. This is obviously good for brightening the look of dark spots, pigmentation, all of that. The vitamin C that we use, it's a tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate or THDA. There's a lot of different vitamin C's out there and with a lot of vitamin C products the vitamin C that they use is not stable. So then when you open the product, it goes rancid really quickly and then it's not effective. So that is why we chose this particular form of vitamin C, because it's a very stable form of vitamin C. It's also a very non irritating form of vitamin C. It has a pH of seven. So that's another reason we've chosen that one.
And then the Revitalize. This one is the bioactive A complex with astaxanthin. So we already talked about the bioactive A complex. That is our retinol alternative. And then the astaxanthin, like I said, is a really powerful antioxidant. It's also what gives flamingos their pink color, fun fact. And that one, the Revitalize, you want to be sure, again, that you're using this in the evening and with an SPF during the day because it does have that bioactive A complex in there.
So again, those are just kind of a fun, unique product. I don't feel like I've seen a whole lot of other skin care lines that have something similar. And like I said, they just are allowing you to really boost the level of activated ingredients that are in your routine. And in general, more activated ingredients kind of means more results. So those are the elixirs.
And then the next step, the last step in your basic four step routine would be your moisturizer. So all of our moisturizers, all of our facial moisturizers are oils. I believe that we are going to be launching a lotion or a cream moisturizer but I'm not sure exactly when that's going to be happening. But we love oils because oils are pure. They don't require any fillers or waxes to be used. They're easily absorbed by the skin. Your skin's natural form of moisture is oil. And we have, again, several different facial oils. In the Signature Collection, we have the Herbal Facial Oils. I tend to not go into these too deeply because they're sort of self explanatory because they are named for the skin type they are designed for. All three of the herbal facial oils, there's the Herbal Facial Oil For Oily Skin, the Herbal Facial Oil For Normal and Combination Skin, and the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. All three are a grapeseed oil base. So grapeseed oil is a very light textured, skin balancing oil. It's rich in Omega 6.
The Herbal Facial Oil For Oily Skin is that grapeseed oil base, and then it's got a purifying herb blend. It’s got neem and black cumin seed.
The Herbal Facial Oil For Sensitive Skin. That one contains no added essential oils. It's got a bunch of omega rich oils like sacha inchi oil and camellia seed oil. That one's got squalane in it as well.
And then the Herbal Facial Oil For Normal and Combination Skin. This is a balancing facial moisturizer. This one's got some echinacea in there, some goji. Trying to think of what else. Tamanu oil in this one.
And then lastly in the Signature Collection, we have the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. So this one is, again, one of our best selling products. People love this one. This one is a very nourishing, restorative facial moisturizer for dry and mature skin types. This one is a jojoba oil base. So again, jojoba very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. And then this one has a bunch of different seed oils in it. It's got carrot seed oil, broccoli seed oil, chia seed oil. Chia is rich in vitamin B and zinc, for example. This one also has some goji, I believe. It's got plantago in it, which is a soothing and purifying herb. So that's the Anti-Aging Oil. Again, just a really good nourishing, restorative facial oil if you have more dry skin. And again, very popular. People love that one. So those are the facial oils in the Signature Collection.
And then in the Wild Alchemy Collection, there's just one. I know, everybody's like, thank god, just one. There's so many. So the Rejuvenating Facial Oil, that is the one in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is good for all skin types except very sensitive skin. This is our most potent facial oil, our most active facial oil. And that's because of the way that it's made. So our other facial oils contain several different herbs in the herb blend. They contain several different seed oils and CO2 extracts. This one has just one herb. It's the butterfly pea flower. And then it has far fewer of the seed oils and the C02 extracts. And the reason for that is because then we were able to include those fewer ingredients at higher percentages at higher concentrations. So that's why we chose to do that. This one has mongongo oil in it, which is very softening. It makes your skin feel really soft. It's got baobab in it, which is brightening. It's got marula oil, which is very rich in antioxidants. That butterfly pea flower is rich in antioxidants as well, along with polyphenols and flavonoids. This one's got some blue tansy in it.
And I think that's it. Those are all the facial oils. Questions about facial oils? Or anything else.
Customer: Okay. Are we just open now for questions? I don't have to go first.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Absolutely. We can do questions. We can talk about other products, we've got masks, exfoliants, eye creams, all of that stuff. So if there's any specific products that anybody wants me to talk about or any specific questions that you guys have, feel free.
Customer: Do they need refrigeration? Like in this really warm weather?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You should never have to refrigerate them. We do recommend storing in a cool, dry place. So you don't want to keep them sitting in the sun on your windowsill or something like that. But you know, we do have the Miron violet glass, that dark glass which helps to kind of protect and preserve the products. And yeah, as long as they're not in direct sun or something like that, they should be okay. You can choose to refrigerate them. That can help to extend the shelf life. So say we have a sale and you stock up a bunch of your favorite products or something, you could always keep them in the fridge if you wanted to. I feel like it's not really practical to keep it in the fridge once you start using it. You're probably not going to walk from your bathroom to the fridge back and forth. But yeah, if you stocked up or something and you wanted to keep them in there to kind of keep them fresh, you absolutely could, but it's not totally necessary.
Customer: All right. How about, like, seasonally? Sometimes you need to change out your products?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, absolutely.
Customer: So I'm just thinking with regard to oils, like I was having breakouts. So I'm thinking maybe it's the oil, maybe it's too oily or something. Well, okay, back up. I was using mad hippie oil on my face and then that just broke everything out. I don't know if it had gone rancid or something because it was really warm weather, but anyways. Then I tried your trial package and that just cleared everything up.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh good!
Customer: So actually, it's not, the oil is not an issue anymore. So, I guess I can just use the Anti-Aging Oil all year round and it shouldn't present the problem. I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes they say you should change your products out seasonally, do you recommend that?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, good question. So you absolutely can switch out products seasonally. Like maybe in the summertime you prefer a purifying gel cleanser like the Citrus Mint versus a cream cleanser or maybe you want to use the Rosemary Mist because you want more of that purifying element, those purifying ingredients, when it's hot and you're sweating and all of that. You totally can do that, but you don't have to. If you are using the Anti-Aging Facial Oil and it's working well for you then you don't have to switch it seasonally. None of our facial oils should cause congestion. They are not comedogenic.
I definitely was very congestion prone and was anti-oil for a long time. And then as I kind of learned more, it's just about choosing the right types of oil. And even, like, as a company for dry and mature skin, we recommend that jojoba oil base. I personally am congestion prone and I still love jojoba oil for everything. So I really feel like it shouldn't be the oil that's breaking you out. Sometimes people do, when they first start using our products, if they're switching from a more conventional line, because of the high levels of antioxidants sometimes people can kind of have a little period where their skin is reacting a bit, but that shouldn't last more than like a few weeks max. If it were continuing longer then I would recommend choosing a different product.
Customer: Okay. What's the shelf life of your oils?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician:So all of our products have the expiration date printed on the packaging on the bottle. It's yellow. That is the expiration date, whether it's opened or not. In general, most products have about a two year shelf life.
Customer: Okay. I just have one more question, but I feel like I should give somebody else a chance to speak. I don't want to take up all the time.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, you're good. You can go ahead. We still have 30 minutes.
Customer: So I just have another last question with regard to toning down the redness around the nose and the chin area because sometimes some of the blood vessels are more pronounced there, probably from when I was a teenager and I was like squeezing, but so do you have something that you can put on your skin to kind of smooth and even it out without making it look like you have any foundation on your skin?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician:Oh, like a makeup type product? So we don't sell our own makeup. We don't make our own makeup, we did years ago, but we do have on our website, in our Favorite Brands Marketplace the Au Naturale loose mineral powder foundation. That is like the face makeup that we recommend. And you can just apply it with a brush, you know, as you typically would. You could also mix a bit with your facial oil to kind of create your own tinted moisturizer. I know that one of the gals on our team, that's how she uses it. But that's the makeup product that we have.
And then as far as skin care products for that, I would just recommend the more, I mean, even the Anti-Aging Serum that you're using would be good because it does have that rose and some soothing ingredients in there. Or something like the Probiotic Serum or the CBD serum, you know, that's geared towards calming, soothing, that sort of thing.
Customer: Okay. Yeah. All right. That's very helpful. I think combining it with the oil is very helpful because, you know, if you have dry, mature, wrinkly skin, the powders just sit on top of your skin and it makes your wrinkles more pronounced. That's what I’ve found anyway.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Right. Yeah, mixing it with the oil can be a great option.
Also, Grace, I can't remember, did we have a liquid or cream foundation recommendation in our makeup call? I don't think we did.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: We didn't. But there's a few clean concealers that are fabulous. So I will put it in the chat for you to look at too.
Customer: Okay, perfect. Thanks very much.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, you're so welcome. Any other questions?
Customer: Yeah, Emily, you mentioned the eye stuff. So what's the difference between, is it the eye serum? I don't know, you've got two different ones.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. So we have the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum and the Anti-Aging Eye Cream. These are our two eye products. They're both great. I tend to recommend, if you're going to choose just one or the other, I personally really like the eye cream. For me, my eye area always feels really dry and this feels very nourishing to me. If I were going to only use the eye serum it just doesn't feel like quite enough moisture for me personally. They can be used together. So if your under eye area is your main concern, you could use them together and you can do that by layering them. So you could layer the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum underneath the Anti-Aging Eye Cream, or you can alternate. You can use the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum in the morning and the Anti-Aging Eye Cream in the evening.
The Anti-Aging Eye Cream, this one has damas rose plant cells. It's got cucumber, so rich in silica, and then cooling of course and good for puffiness. The Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum. This one obviously is more of a true serum consistency versus the cream. So that thinner consistency, that smaller molecule, this one has pineapple ceramides which are moisturizing. It's got sake peptides. So the sake peptides can help to kind of resurface and retexturize the under eye area. So that can be helpful if dark circles are your main concern. But in general, I usually tell people if you're just going to pick one or the other, I usually recommend picking the eye cream.
Any other questions?
Customer: I have a question, Emily. So I just spent like 400 on another skin care program, but I'm interested in Annmarie. One of the things that I'm using is a C02 cream for the eyelids and under the eyes. What are your thoughts on that?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So this is funny because we actually had somebody recently who was asking about our C02 extracts and I looked into it. For us, it has to do with the extraction process. So it's not that there's actually C02 in the product. It has to do with the way that the nutrients are extracted when making the products. So I don't know, I'm not sure if the one that you're referring to if it's the same, like if it just refers to the way that the product is made and the extraction process, or if it's actually C02 in the product.
Customer: I don't know. Sunshine Botanicals is the company. So it's supposed to eliminate wrinkles and spots and things like that. So I'm interested in your products because I am the one that talked about the rash. So I think, like right now when it's not inflamed, your Signature Collection might be a good idea because I love what you said about the aloe vera and I wrote down the probiotic serum and maybe the anti aging. And maybe the herbal moisturizer. Anyways, I was trying to pick out ones that you had mentioned. But when it's inflamed, like every single thing I put on my skin, it just burns, it's like a radiation rash. So do you have a suggestion for, I've tried prescription, non prescription. I've been on all kinds of medications. I've tried essential oils, natural products. Do you recommend anything for when it is really inflamed?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I mean, the products that you mentioned are excellent options. The Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Probiotic Serum, and then I would do maybe the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin, or possibly even the Radiate oil for your oil. As far as when skin is really inflamed, you could possibly use the Botanical Hydration Mist. This is Grace's other holy grail product, so I can let her talk about this one.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Yeah, so I bring this mist with me everywhere because, like I said, my skin flares up all the time. Especially after workouts my skin gets really red, and I'll just spray that on, and it's very helpful. Another thing I was thinking of, which you may have already tried this, and also Emily can talk about this a little more too, is honey. Honey can be super, super helpful with anything that's like, you know, inflamed, or irritated. Emily can speak about that a little more, but that's just another thing that popped in my head that I use when my skin is feeling really out of balance.
Customer: So are you saying like, raw honey straight out of the container? Just cause I've tried Manuka honey creams, but that doesn't do a lot.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Is it pure Manuka honey, or is it a cream that contains manuka honey?
Customer: It was in a cream. Something from New Zealand, I don't remember. But what do you recommend?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So I always get Manuka Honey UMF 15. And I dampen my face a little bit and then apply the honey. And you can use it as a cleanser or you can use it as a mask. And that was something, when I was really struggling with congestion, the Manuka honey and the jojoba were like the two things that I kind of stuck to that I found helpful. .
Customer: Okay. Thank you. I also have 100 percent jojoba oil. And I have a hundred percent vitamin E oil, I don't know. I feel like a walking experiment. So would you use a hundred percent jojoba oil just on your skin, like before you go to bed at night?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Absolutely you could. I've done that before. I mean, I think it's nice if you can, like once you get your skin to kind of a place of balance, it's nice to incorporate these products because they contain more of the activated ingredients and antioxidants and things that are going to help with targeting signs of aging and all of that. But if your skin is in a place where it's just totally inflamed it may be best to keep things as simple as possible, so the manuka honey and jojoba could be a great option. And maybe incorporating the Botanical Hydration Mist as well.
Customer: Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Of course. Any other questions guys? Or any other products that you want me to touch on like exfoliants or masks or anything like that?
Customer: So when I wash my face after you know, massaging the aloe cleanser. Do you recommend using a face cloth to get it off, or do you just splash water on? I know you have a brush. Which is kind of nice, but I don't know if it's really good for mature skin.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I think it's just really personal preference. I personally don't usually remove my cleansers with a washcloth or a brush or anything. I just rinse. The Lotus brush is pretty gentle and some people do like it. Like maybe you are using a cream cleanser and you like that, but you want more of that deep clean feeling. So then incorporating the Lotus wood brush. For your cleanse could be helpful. And you could even use the brush just a couple of times a week for a bit of exfoliation. Another nice option if you want that more deep clean feeling but you like the cream cleansers you can always mix in an exfoliant like our Ayurvedic Facial Scrub. This is a really gentle dry herbal exfoliant. You can just mix a little bit in with your Aloe Herb Cleanser. I do that sometimes and I like that. That could be an option too, but really it's just personal preference. I don't think you have to do it one way or the other.
Customer: When I wake up in the morning, I wear an eye mask at night, and when I wake up in the morning I get crusty eyelashes and stuff, and so I have to use something. It doesn't come off of just splashing my face with water.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician:Yeah, then you absolutely could use a face cloth, a washcloth or a brush. Though I would be very careful and gentle around the eye area. I wouldn’t use the brush in that area and even with a cloth I would just be extra gentle since that skin is so delicate.
Alright you guys. We are getting a bit low on time. Are there any other questions that you want me to cover before we hop off?
No? Okay, perfect. Well, if you do think of any other questions, Grace did put the email address in the chat too for our customer care team. It's just [email protected]. And we're a very small team. So if you want it to go to me or Grace you can just put our name in there and it'll get to us pretty quickly.
And I think that's it. I hope that you guys all have an awesome afternoon. Thank you for hanging out with us for an hour and a half and chatting about skin care.
Customer: Thank you very much. For the knowledge.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician:You're so welcome. Bye you guys. Thank you.
