Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So that's a little bit about us. And then the four step routine, the kind of basic routine that we recommend to pretty much everybody, this is just like a general recommendation that you would do in the morning and in the evening, is cleanse, tone, use a serum, and then a moisturizer or an oil. All of our facial moisturizers are oils. So that's kind of the general recommendation. I always tell people, you know, it's best to just kind of find what works best for you, find what works best for your skin, find what works best for your lifestyle. Maybe you're somebody who currently has no routine, so it might feel like a lot to jump into a routine that has four steps and that's fine. You could always start with just the cleanser and the facial oil, and then you could build from there. Or maybe you're somebody who wants a really full routine. You want all the most activated ingredients. You want the treatment mask, the boosters, all of that. We've got that too. And then as far as the line goes, we do have a lot of products, so it can feel really overwhelming sometimes if you're new to the line. So kind of to simplify it a little bit, we have different collections within the line. The two main collections that we have that we'll focus on are the Signature Collection. All of the Signature Collection products have the tan labels. These products are a lot of our best selling products. A lot of these products have been around since we first got started.

The other main collection that we've got is the Wild Alchemy Collection. All of these products have the black and gold labeling. This collection, this is our Luxury Collection. And what makes it our luxury collection is that the products in this collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients. Activated ingredients are things like our bioactive A complex, which is our retinol alternative. Things like our THDA, which is our pure vitamin C. And then they also contain more exotic ingredients. So things like baobab oil and mongongo oil, these like globally sourced ingredients. And then the way that they're made too, the process is usually just a little bit more intricate, a little bit more laborious than with the Signature Collection products. So that's kind of what sets that collection apart from the others. And then we also do have some smaller collections. We probably won't focus a whole lot on those smaller collections. We'll just kind of see where the call takes us and if we need to get into any of those we can. So I did look over your guys’ surveys but like I said, we had nine that registered and just four on the call, so I’ll probably just check in with each of you and see kind of where we're at and what our concerns are and what we want to chat about. So did anybody feel like they might want to share a little bit about your skin or your concerns or questions? Anything like that and you don't have to if you don't want to, I can just move along.
Customer: I'll go ahead and say something. So I'm new to the line. I just have the, I purchased the trial, the trial set. It felt really good. Obviously I don't know the long term benefits yet and know if it's meeting the needs of what I kind of am hoping for, but I did join the webinar a few days ago and I do have more of what I've been using coming in. So then I can give it a good three, I guess, I don't know how long stuff lasts, but I mean, this trial pack has lasted a little while, you only have to use a little bit, it seems like. So I'm hoping it'll give me a good three months, two months, really time to evaluate. But my question is, how does it, since it's clean, I'm always worried that when you mix unclean things together, you really are creating your own science experiment there and you don't know what's going to happen. But if it's clean, then is it okay? I'm 60, almost 64 years old. And so, you know, it's the lines, just the, the lack of fullness under the eyes, and so I have another eye cream that I've been using. Is it okay to still use that? I mean, I know y'all have an eye cream, but I kinda wanna use what I have. Is it okay to add other things? And then when in the process, like you do the cleanse, the tone, the serum and the oil, then do you apply like a specific eye cream that's not y'all's? Until I know everything, until I know everything feels good, you know, I want to give it a good trial and error period. When do I add? When in the sequence can you add other stuff? And is it okay? Does it mess everything up? You know what I mean?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. I mean, I think in general it's okay to mix and match from different skincare lines. I mean, you know, maybe you have something from this line that you absolutely love and you don't want to give up. I think in general it's fine. I mean, I can't 100 percent say that it is fine to use whatever products you have with ours because I don’t know every ingredient in the products that you already are using, but in general, it usually is fine. I would say, the only time you would maybe want to be a little bit careful is if you're mixing things that have like really activated ingredients or like something from your dermatologist that has like a vitamin A derivative in it, or you know, something with those types of really activated ingredients. But, as I said, in general, it's probably fine. And if it's not fine, you probably would feel it, your skin would feel irritated. So it should be fine to just finish up your eye cream or whatever it is that you have. And as far as when to use the different products, like we talked about, so first you would cleanse, of course, and then you mist your toning mist, and then apply your serum and your oil. Your eye cream, I think it's kind of up to you. I always like to apply my eye cream last, like after I apply my facial oil. Some people like to apply it after their serum, before their oil. I think either is fine.
And then were there other specific products you were thinking of that you weren't sure of, like, the order they would go?
Customer: No. It was mostly just the eye cream.
And then I guess how long, what have y'all found that people kind of feel the effects? And like it accomplishes kind of what you're looking for as far as fine lines or, you know, fullness under your eyes or whatever.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So I always tell people, like in general, you do see, I think some immediate result like just from the boost in hydration. That alone can help to plump the skin and give it a more “full” look. So you will see some immediate results.
Depending on what you're using, like say you're using our Activated Night Serum, which has our bioactive A-complex in it, this is our retinol alternative. So as far as results with that and seeing the minimizing of fine lines or softening the look of fine lines and minimizing the appearance of dark spots, you know, that's going to take some time. You want to be really consistent with it and I would say, give it like at least a month or so before you kind of decide whether or not you think it’s working and if you’re happy with the product. And I think too, like you know, I think with natural products, with skincare products in general, with things like that bioactive A complex in there, you really can see wonderful results. I think we have to still be realistic about, like, what we're gonna see as far as, the fullness that you mentioned. I think that it can be helpful for that, for plumping the look of skin, but the result is not going to be the same as going to get filler or something like that.
Customer: Yeah. I don’t want to do that.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. Awesome. And so you have the Clean Beauty Trial Kit, right? With the Aloe Herb Cleanser, Anti-Aging Serum, and Anti-Aging Oil?
Customer: Yes, that's what I got. So then, what I ordered is, I got the toner, because the toner didn’t come with the trial kit. So I'm anxious to see how that feels.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, I feel like toner gets skipped over a lot, but I'm kind of toner obsessed. So that’s perfect.
Did anyone else want to share? Or like I said, if not, that's okay too.
Customer:Yeah, I have a bunch of questions. So I'm happy to be here and thanks Diane for going through and your summary as well. So I appreciate that. And I have some of the same things as well and looking at what would help my skin the most.So I've been using the products for probably four or five months and overall I'm really happy with them. I like them. I love the smell. I love the way that, you know, they make me feel. So a few questions. I'm wondering, even with using all the products, I feel like I never would have dreamed I'm putting oil on my skin and I don’t have oily skin. In fact, I have some of the opposite problem. I feel like my skin is still dry and flaky sometimes, even though, you know, I'm doing the routine and putting the oil on a couple of times a day. So I'm wondering if there's something else that I should be doing. And I recently, by the way, I attended another call in December, I think, and ordered the Hydrate that I've been adding to the serum as well. I got the CBD oil, but I haven't used it yet. I wanted to do this call first to understand how to, you know, incorporate that into the routine.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. Maybe just let me take a look at your orders so that I can see exactly which products you’ve got. So you had the Clean Beauty Trial. And then, oh, you’ve got the pearl mask. I love the pearl mask. The eye cream. Oh gosh. You have all kinds of stuff.
Customer: I do. I know. So that's where I want to get help to make sure I'm using them the right way. Did I get too much stuff?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: No, not at all. You can never have too much stuff. You don’t necessarily have to use everything at once. My god, you should see all that I have.
Customer: Okay. But, I'm wondering too, kind of like Diane, since I'm older, I just turned 65 last month, if I should be doing something a little bit differently for my routine than, you know, someone that's 30 years old. My skin's dramatically changed in the last five years from what it used to be.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Right. Okay. Well, let's see here. Let's go kind of step by step.
Customer: We should all, are we all over 60, that you can just stay on that topic?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I think so. Okay, so are you mostly using the Aloe Herb Cleanser? I see that you have the Renew Cleanser as well. Do you have both?
Customer: I have both, yes. So that was part of my question, which one should I use? Are they both good?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay so the Renew Cleanser is part of the Essentials Collection. So like I said, we have the two main collections. The Essentials Collection is one of those smaller collections that I mentioned and it's just two products. It's the Renew Facial Cream Cleanser and the Radiate Oil. And these two products are actually offered at a lower price point than any of our other products. And the reason for that is just that they don't contain our herb infusions. So like how I talked about when we make our products, we steep the herbs. And so they're just really simple formulas and the crafting process is more simple, that's why we can offer them at the lower price point. Though they are simple formulas, they are still great products. They can be really good options for people that have more sensitive skin. Grace and I actually both really love the Radiate Facial Oil and use it often. The only thing I would say about this collection is that because they don't contain the herb infusions, and they don’t contain a lot of those activated ingredients that I mentioned, they may not be the first that I would recommend if you are looking to address signs of aging.
But also, it's a cleanser. It's not the product that's staying on your skin for the longest, so it's not a huge issue to say use your Renew Cleanser and then you can always choose to get more of the Aloe Herb or try the Phytonutrient once you’ve finished the Renew.
So, the Aloe Herb Cleanser, this is a creamy nourishing cleanser. It's got that aloe in it which is rich in vitamins and minerals, phytonutrients and enzymes. And then it's got the lemon essential oil that helps with purifying and brightening the look of skin. The calendula is soothing, great for helping to minimize the appearance of any temporary redness in the skin. And then another option that I'll touch on, that I mentioned, is the Phytonutrient Cleanser. This cleanser is in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one I would say is our most activated cleanser. It's also our most rich, most moisturizing cleanser. It's got kind of this thick fatty texture because it has a mango seed butter in it. That one also has apple extract in it. So the apple extract is rich in vitamin C and malic acid, which can be helpful for brightening the look of skin. This cleanser has got some acai in there as well, giving it an antioxidant component. It contains our signature serum blend. So honestly, of the three cleansers, the Aloe Herb, the Renew, and the Phytonutreint, the Phyto is probably going to be the most focused for addressing signs of aging as well as working to brighten the look of skin.
But, that being said, the other two are still wonderful. I use both the Aloe Herb and the Phytonutrient. I tend to alternate between the two. I don't feel like I use the Renew quite as often, but like I said, it's still fine. It's still going to effectively cleanse the skin. So you could incorporate that one too.
And then it looks like you got the bundle that comes with the Renew Cleanser and the Radiate Oil. Have you tried the Radiate Oil?
Customer: I'm trying to remember. I have several oils I'm using. I think so. I should have brought my products down here.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I just love that one. I don't, like I said, it's not our most potent, most activated oil, but I just like the way it feels. I like the way it smells. So I still tend to use it fairly often.
But as far as the cleansers go, it looks like right now you've got the Aloe Herb and the Renew. So, if you wanted to, you could just continue with those. You could alternate them, maybe use one in the morning, one at night, whatever you want to do that way. And then maybe when you go to purchase again, you might want to take a look at the Phytonutrient Cleanser, because like I said, it's the most kind of geared toward anti-aging, and also the most moisturizing, and it sounds like you might be a little bit on the drier side.
And then also, let me look again, because you mentioned, you know, that you're using all of these really moisturizing products and hydrating products, but that your skin is still feeling dry. So I don't see any type of exfoliant in all the products that you have. So that might be something that you could look into adding to your routine.
Exfoliation is going to help to refine the skin’s texture, prevent congestion, prevent any build-up on the skin. If you don't exfoliate at all, then sometimes you kind of get this layer of build up on the skin and then all of those hydrating products, all of those moisturizing products that you’re using aren't really able to penetrate properly. So they're not really working as effectively as they could. So sometimes when people have that concern, they say, “I'm using all these moisturizing products and I still feel dry”, that can be a good option, incorporating some type of exfoliation.
And exfoliation is kind of a fine line, you know, because you want to incorporate some type of exfoliation, but you don't want to over exfoliate because you don't want to cause any kind of irritation or inflammation in the skin, of course.
We do have several different exfoliant options that you could choose. I guess we could go through each of them. I just don't want to overwhelm anyone.
So the first one, I don't know where mine is. Oh, here it is. We have the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, this little cutie right here.

This one is in the Signature Collection. This is a dry powdered exfoliant. It's very, very gentle. So even people with the most sensitive skin types can usually use this. And so the way that you would use it, you just shake a bit into your hand, add a little bit of water, mix it up, buff it into the skin after you cleanse. So you would cleanse, then you would do this and then you would rinse it clean and then you would mist your toning mist, apply your serum, apply your oil. This one also can be mixed with a cleanser. So a lot of people like to mix it. If I ever use this one, that's how I tend to do it. I'll mix it with my Aloe Herb Cleanser, or my Phytonutrient Cleanser. This one is just a physical exfoliant. So it's got the the fenugreek in it. That's the exfoliating ingredient here. That's what's giving it the scrubby gritty texture. Again, it's a very gentle, very fine texture, and just a physical exfoliant, so just physically polishing the skin. The other one that we have that is just a physical exfoliant is the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant. This one is very popular. People love this one. I love this one. Everybody loves this one. So this one is a cream exfoliating scrub. I feel like it is kind of exactly what comes to mind when you think of a traditional face scrub. It's that creamy texture. The exfoliating ingredient in this one is crushed bamboo powder, bamboo stem powder. So it's the kaolin base with the bamboo stem. Kaolin clay, any clay, is going to be very mineral rich and purifying. This has lavender in it, so that is the scent profile. It smells so lovely. It's fairly gentle as well. I think it might say on our website that it's not great for sensitive skin, but Grace uses it and Grace has very sensitive skin.
Customer: My skin's really sensitive too, so I appreciate that. I have a little eczema from time to time.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, Grace has all that. She's our sensitive skin poster child. But this one when she uses it she mixes it with the Aloe Herb Cleanser. So that actually makes it even more gentle because you're diluting it a little bit. And it smells amazing because it smells like lemon lavender. This one, most of the time you want to use it like three times a week.
The Ayurvedic Scrub, this one, like I said, it's so gentle, most people could use it even every day if they wanted to. But so there's that option.
Then the Radiant C Mask & Polish, this is a newer product, it's fantastic as well. This one is actually both a physical exfoliant and a chemical exfoliant, which I love. So this one is also a dry powder, just like the Ayurvedic is. So you just sprinkle a bit into the palm of your hand, mix it with water, buff it into the skin, rinse, and that's it. You can also mix this with a cleanser. It’s beautiful with the Phytonutrient or the Aloe Herb. You could mix it with the Renew as well to kind of boost the benefits of that one. This one, so the physical exfoliating property in this one is the same as the Kaolin, it's the bamboo stem powder. Then it's got hibiscus in it, so it's like this really beautiful fuchsia color. So the chemical exfoliant, there's alpha hydroxy acids from the hibiscus. So alpha hydroxy acids help to kind of dissolve the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. This is very vitamin C rich. There's lemon peel powder and strawberry and acerola cherry and all these different fruit extracts in here. So great for brightening the look of the skin. And it's very versatile. Like I said, you could mix it in with your cleanser. You could use it on its own as an exfoliant, just mixing it with water. You can use this as a mask. So you can mix it with water and you can just leave it on the skin for like 15 minutes and rinse it. You can mix it with honey. I like to mix it with manuka honey or raw honey. It mixes really well with our Illuminating Pearl Mask. That is a favorite combo internally, we all love that one! This one, I think as well, it might say that it's not for sensitive skin on our site but Grace uses this, too. Right, Grace?
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Yeah.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: How do you do it with honey or aloe herb?
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Yeah, I mix it with, well, I mix it with a few things, but I like to mix it with raw honey. It makes it a little more gentle and a little, it just helps my skin a little more. Or the Illuminating Pearl Mask is also magnificent to use with it. So, I do mix it. I haven't used it just by itself as like a scrub. I always mix it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. I've done both. I like both. I tend to like to mix. It's just kind of more fun.
And then the last option I'll just mention, is the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant. And this one is strictly a chemical exfoliant. So there's no scrub or grit to it. It's just a smooth gel texture. So you use it the way that you would a mask. You just apply it to clean skin, leave it on for just two to three minutes to start. You don't want to leave it on for very long. You can work your way up to leaving it on for like 10 minutes, but we recommend starting with that lesser time just to see how your skin does with it. This one, the exfoliating property is a honey derived lactic acid. So lactic acid is a very mild alpha hydroxy acid, so again dissolving that “glue” that holds the top layer of skin cells. This one you also want to use in the evening. We recommend using it in the evening and with an SPF during the day. And then this one, it's a really nice blend, a nice balance. It's got the activated honey derived lactic acid, that exfoliating component. And then it's blended really nicely with more, like, soothing, calming ingredients. The blue tansy and the cucumber. This one you are going to just use once a week.
So those are the exfoliants and yeah, it definitely could be beneficial to incorporate an exfoliant so that those hydrating products are really penetrating deeply to work effectively. The other thing, what else was I going to say? Oh, a toning mist. Do you have a toning mist?
Customer: I don't think I do. I don't recall having that. For some reason, I didn't think about buying that.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Well, I mean, I feel like, like I was saying, I think toning mists are a step that get skipped over often. But I think it can be really helpful. For a few different reasons. So it's providing a dose of hydration. So there's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water and then dry skin, which is skin that's lacking oil. And most people have a combination of both. They have a little bit of dehydration, a little bit of dryness. So we recommend that combination of hydrating products and moisturizing products. Your hydrating products are your toning mist and your serum and then your moisturizing products are your facial oil. So the toning mist can offer that boost of hydration, which is really great. It offers, you know, a dose of skin supporting nutrients depending on which toning mist you're choosing. We can go over the options. But it can also really help with absorption. So I like to always apply my serum and my oil when my skin is still slightly damp with the toning mist. This can be really helpful if you're new to using an oil as a moisturizer and you're feeling like “oh, it feels heavy or greasy or it's not absorbing well”, anything like that, I always recommend making sure that you're applying when your skin is still slightly damp from your toning mist. Even if you weren't using a toning mist for some reason, then I would apply it when my skin is still a little bit damp with water. And the toning mist. We have three in the line. It sounds like based on the group, you would choose between either the Botanical Hydration Mist With Imortelle or the Neroli Toning Mist. Both of these are excellent. The Neroli is in the Signature Collection. This is very popular. People love this one. It's that aloe vera juice base. It has the neroli in it, which is derived from fresh orange blossoms. So it smells really lovely. I think that's part of why people like it so much. And then some Aspen Bark Extract, which acts as a natural preservative and is also a natural source of salicins.
And then the Botanical Hydration Mist, this is the one in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is great for all skin types as well, but it's especially good for sensitive skin. It contains a blend of four different types of chamomile so it's really soothing. It's also got rose in here which is soothing and nurturing as well. This is one of Grace's “Holy Grail products”. She loves this one. And then also the anti-aging component, it's got the immortelle in there or the life everlasting flowers, which are a potent antioxidant and then the frankincense, which is known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate. If you are a scent person, the scent profile on these is very different. The Neroli, like I said, it's kind of that sweeter smell because the neroli is derived from fresh orange blossoms. The Botanical is definitely more herbal smelling. So just a note. Also, the Botanical is a larger size. It comes only in this large size, which is twice the size of the Neroli. But those are the toning mists. So adding a toning mist to your routine could be another thing that might be helpful in making your skin feel more hydrated, since applying products to skin that is damp will increase absorption.
Customer: Okay. Thank you. For those of us over 60, which one would be the best one?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I think either of these really would be great. I think you could choose either and be happy.
Customer: Okay. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: They're both really popular. I would say the Botanical does have a little bit more of those anti-aging ingredients because of the frankincense and that immortelle. But say you just really loved the way the Neroli smelled, I think it's perfect too.
And then you have the Hydrate – Hyaluronic Acid With Peptides, and so you already know you're just mixing that in with your serum.
Customer: I do it like one to one, or what should the ratio be of how much I mix in?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, for the Hydrate, I would probably just do like one pump mixed in with your serum. So one pump of the Hydrate, and then the serum, you could probably do like two pumps, maybe one to two. I feel like it's kind of personal preference. Like, I always tend to overuse my facial oil, so I use less serum and more oil. But I know our COO, she uses more serum and less oil, so it's kind of personal preference, but usually with the Hydrate, you're just using one pump of that. And so for others on the call, the Hydrate is one of our elixirs. The elixirs kind of fall into the serum category but they are meant to boost your serum. So they're not really a necessary product, like they're not one of the four products in your basic four step routine. They are made to boost the level of activated ingredients in your products. And then they also allow you to kind of just customize your routine a bit more.
So this Hydrate Concentrated Boosting Elixir, is hyaluronic acid paid with vegan collagen prepeptides. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant. It binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular holds 1,000 times its weight in water. So it's considered a super hydrator. Deeply hydrating this skin like that is really gonna help to kind of plump the skin and then it's also got the vegan collagen pre peptides, which are really like strengthening the skin kind of just increasing resilience in the skin.
So that's the Hydrate Elixir. Okay, so how does that feel? Where do you guys want to go from here?
Customer: Can you talk about the other two elixirs? Cause when I was on the call earlier in the week with a purchase, I got the elixirs. So can you just explain when to use the other ones?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, definitely. Okay, so the set, the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs set comes with the three, and then we have the Hydrate that comes in the larger size as well, but it's the same thing.

And then the Brighten also comes in the larger size, and it's the same as this Brighten Elixir.
The Revitalize, this one doesn't come on its own in the larger size, but it contains the exact same activated ingredient as the Activated Night Serum.
So the elixirs, like I said, meant to boost your routine, help you kind of customize your routine more. They're very concentrated. You are never to apply these directly to the skin. They're always to be mixed. So ideally you're mixing with your serum. If for some reason you weren't using a serum, you could mix it with your oil. The reason we recommend mixing with a serum is just because serums are made up of smaller molecules than a facial oil. They're sitting closest to the skin. So you're just getting these activated ingredients, like penetrating as deeply as possible. And the reason that we created these is because we just wanted to have a clean alternative to all of these really popular activated ingredients that you see on the market in conventional skin care products all the time. The hyaluronic, the retinol, and the vitamin C. So we wanted a clean alternative that really would deliver similar results. So that was kind of like the motivation behind creating these.
The Hydrate we already talked about. This one is the hyaluronic acid with the vegan collagen pre peptides. So if you're using the full size, you would pump one pump into your serum. If you're using the smaller one with the dropper top, you would drop three drops into your serum.
The Brighten Elixir, this one is a pure vitamin C with seabuckthorn. The vitamin C that we use is a tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate or THDA.
So the reason that we've chosen that particular vitamin C, there are a bunch of different types of vitamin C out there. This particular vitamin C is very stable. A lot of vitamin C's on the market are not stable. So when you open the product and it's exposed to air, it goes rancid really quickly and then it's not effective. So this is a very stable form of vitamin C. It's also oil soluble. And it’s a very non-irritating form of vitamin C. Sometimes conventional vitamin C products can be irritating for more sensitive skin types. And then it's paired with the seabuckthorn, which is rich in vitamins and omegas.
And then the Revitalize. This one is the bioactive A-Complex with astaxanthin. So our bioactive A-Complex is our retinol alternative. Like I said, that's the exact same ingredient that you'll find in the Activated Night Serum. So retinol, I’m sure you've heard of, it’s kind of considered the “gold standard” when it comes to anti-aging products, anti-aging ingredients, but it is not great for your health. It can be harmful to reproductive health and even for your skin health, if you're using a traditional vitamin A product over an extended period of time it can start to thin your skin a bit, which really isn't what we want as we age. We don't want to thin our skin. We want to create really healthy, resilient skin by supporting our skin's natural barrier. So that's why we chose to make this alternative. It's derived from algae, so it's a completely safe ingredient. It's a Made Safe approved ingredient. And it's going to deliver similar results, similar benefits to a conventional retinol, that like resurfacing, renewing effect. So this is great for softening the appearance of fine lines, great for helping to lessen the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation but without any of the irritation and dryness that you often get with using a conventional retinol. So that's the Revitalize. And then it's paired with astaxanthin, which is a really powerful antioxidant. It's also what gives flamingos their pink color-fun fact.
Customer: Now, would you use that every day or would you use that every night?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes. In general, you can use the elixirs every day. The Revitalize Elixir, you just want to make sure you use this one at night and with an SPF during the day. Same thing with the Activated Night Serum. Both of these products you want to use at night and with an SPF during the day. They have that resurfacing effect, so essentially you are exposing fresh skin, so it’s important to protect that skin. Also, I think it is important to just gauge how your skin is feeling. Maybe using the Activated Night Serum every night is too much for your skin, so maybe you choose to use it every other night. Or you could incorporate it every night for two weeks and then take a week off. Just play around with it to find what feels good.
Also, with the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs you can mix and match. So maybe in the morning you want to add two drops of the Hydrate and one drop of the Brighten to your serum. Or maybe you want to do just 3 drops of Brighten. You can play a bit with that as well.
So those are the elixirs. What other questions do we have? Do we have any other questions or any other products that you want me to talk about?
Customer: I have the CBD oil and I'm not sure how to use it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: The Activated CBD Serum you can just use the same as you would any other serum. So you can choose if you want to use it in the morning or in the evening. I think you have other serums. So if you want to, you could alternate. You could use your Anti-Aging Serum in the morning and then use your Activated CBD Serum at night. Sometimes I feel like the Activated CBD is kind of nice to use at night. It's got both hyaluronic acid and tremella mushroom extract in it, so it's very hydrating. It’s got a bit thicker, creamier texture than some of our other serums that are a little more aqueous. It smells fantastic. I love the way that one smells. It's really great for all skin types. It's great for sensitive skin types. This is Grace's other “holy grail” product that she loves. The CBD, it’s kind of hard to say exactly what it does for the skin. It kind of works with your body's natural endocannabinoid system to go where it needs to go and do what it needs to do. But in general, it's very calming, very soothing, great calming any temporary redness in the skin. There are a bunch of powerful antioxidants in there, there's the astaxanthin that I mentioned. It's got a super oxide dismutase in there. What else is in this one? It's got mangosteen oil, black cumin seed oil. So a really great one, very all-encompassing. And to incorporate it, I would just alternate with your other serums.
Awesome. Good questions. Any other questions?
Customer: The pearl mask? What's that?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Love the pearl mask. So the Illuminating Pearl Mask is one of our treatment masks. It's a hydrating, brightening treatment mask. It's got mountain wildflower honey in it. So honey is a humectant, it's going to draw moisture to the skin. And then it's got these brightening ingredients as well-the licorice root, uva ursi, and crushed pearl powder. Licorice root and uva ursi are both lightening and brightening ingredients. Licorice root is used a lot of times in natural products as an alternative to hydroquinone. And then the crushed pearl powder. I don't think I have mine here. I think mine's upstairs. But it gives it this kind of, you can see in the product, like a little bit of a radiance, a luminosity. It encourages a topical glow, so it leaves skin looking really bright and beautiful. And it's got kind of this creamy jelly texture, so it feels really nice and cool on the skin. I like to use it in the morning when my skin is really tired and puffy looking. You can use it as a little under eye treatment if you want to, if you're not sensitive in that area. And this one is one that you really can't overdo it with. You could use it every day if you wanted to and it's not going to hurt anything. So you would just cleanse and then you would put on your mask, let it sit for like 15 minutes, 20 minutes, whatever you want and then rinse it and then apply your serum and your oil. Yeah, that's a really popular one. People love that one. I feel like that's one that you just kind of can't go wrong with. It's one of my favorites.
Do you love it too, Donna?
Customer: Yeah, I do like it a lot. I have one of the other masks, too. I can't remember the name of it now. I think it's a coconut something. You can see what I ordered. But that one's really thick. You know, so I don't know if I need to mix it with something else to, you know, make it go on the skin a little easier. Or what your suggestion would be.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: It is, that one is like a really thick balmy texture. The Coconut Honey Mask It can be nice to warm it before applying. You can just put the jar into a bit of warm water or even put it in your shower. Just make sure it is all the way closed of course so that you don’t get water into the product. And that one's wonderful too. It's popular, you know, like if you're really dry, it's popular in the winter months, again, it's that thick balmy texture, it's a really simple formula with the coconut oil, and then the honey, there's some vanilla in there.
So both are excellent. What else you guys got for me? Anything?
Customer: What kind of specific eye stuff do you have? What do you suggest?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So we have two eye products. We have the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum and the Anti-Aging Eye Cream. I think both are great. I personally like the eye cream. Usually, I tell people if they're going to just choose one or the other, I tend to recommend choosing the eye cream. Sometimes if someone's main concern is their under eye area then they may want to use both. They can be used together. You can layer the eye serum underneath the eye cream or alternate and apply one in the morning the other in the evening. The Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum is a true serum. So serums have that smaller molecule, they are hydrating the skin. Whereas the eye cream is that thicker, creamier texture. It’s providing moisture.
The eye serum has pineapple ceramides in there and sake peptides, this can help to retexturize the undereye area to help to brighten the look of dark dark circles under the eyes. The eye cream has the cucumber distillate, so great for puffiness. The damas rose plant cells are good for softening the look of fine lines and helping with the appearance of crow's feet. So they're both excellent, but as I mentioned if you want to just choose one I typically recommend the eye cream. With the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, I always tell people that you only need a very little bit of this. It's very concentrated and it can be helpful to apply it when your skin is still a little bit damp from the toning mist like we were talking about. If you use too much or your skin is like completely dry, sometimes it just doesn't apply nicely. But yeah, those are the two eye products that we have. I can't live without our eye cream. It's one of my faves.
Customer: How much of it do you use when you put it on? Cause I've noticed sometimes it seems I use too much, you know, when I do a pump, so I'm trying to figure out how to cut back on that a little bit.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, for the eye cream you probably only need like half a pump. If I get too much I will just use it on other areas-between my brows, the lines around my mouth, etc.
Customer: Okay, thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, of course. How are you guys feeling?
Customer: I feel good. I have a couple other questions if we have time. What would you recommend for a good SPF lotion?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Great question! This is our Sun Love Everyday Sheer Sunscreen. It's an SPF 20. It's a broad spectrum, protecting against both UVA and UVB rays. It is reef safe. It's a non nano zinc oxide. It's pretty nourishing. It's got pumpkin seed oil, buriti fruit oil in there. So you can choose if you want to use it just on its own. You can use it as your daytime moisturizer or you can use it over top of a facial oil. That's just kind of personal preference, whatever you like to do. But that's our recommendation.

Customer: Okay. And then I have a question similar to what Diane was asking. My dermatologist years ago, and for my own sensitive skin too, I've been using CeraVe and Cetaphil lotions a lot. Do you have an opinion on those? Are they okay to use?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: They wouldn't be my first choice. I don’t know that they are “clean” as far as the ingredients go. I usually tell people if you look at a typical cleanser or moisturizer, and check the ingredient list, usually ingredients are listed by level of concentration. Often water is listed as the first ingredient. If a product contains water then it also has to contain more preservatives because bacteria can grow quickly. So if you are able to find an alternative that you like I would recommend using that instead. We do have the Renew Cleanser and the Radiate Oil, which are clean options that are simple formulas and can work well for sensitive skin. So if you're really sensitive, that can be a good place to start.
Customer: I appreciate that. But I'm thinking too, for my body, like body lotion, you know, and that kind of thing. Cause you know, I use a ton of that. I put it on every time I get out of the bath and shower.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh ok. Well, we do have a full line of body products. So of course that's what we recommend. We have the Radiant Skin Silk Body Lotion. And then we do have a few different body oils. The Coconut Body Oil is really popular. The body oils can be really nice. I like to just keep mine in the shower and then when I'm done showering, just apply it while my skin is still a little bit damp. We also have the Divine Woods Body Oil, which has that more woodsy scent profile.
We have a body butter, the Palo Santo Body Butter, so this is going to be very thick and rich. Very moisturizing.
Customer: Great, thank you. I will take a look at those. For some reason I hadn't seen those on the product list. I guess I was just focusing on the face stuff and didn't see those.
Customer: Okay. So, we do all this work to keep our face clean and then we put on makeup. Is there makeup that y'all recommend? , I mean, y'all don't do makeup, right? But are there any suggestions on brands that you know are clean and not crazily priced?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, we actually did a whole live event on it. Toups & Co is one that Grace is mentioning here, but we do have a blog that she'll put in the chat. And that blog has everything from that live event. So we went through, you know, each different category, like lipstick, foundation, etc. and gave our recommendation for a clean option.
Customer: Okay, and then you see us on the screen, our faces. Do you, is there something that jumps out on my face that you go, you need to use this?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I mean, I think you both look beautiful. There's not really, like, one thing. We’ve already touched on several things that can be helpful. You mentioned that you have the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs, so those are great to incorporate to really address signs of aging. It’s always my recommendation when people are really looking to see visible results to incorporate products like the elixirs that have those very activated ingredients like the bioactive A, the THDA, and the hyaluronic acid. So you’re kind of already on the right track.
Customer: Okay. When you say brightening, are you talking about just the brightness of the skin or brightening around the eyes? Or what do you mean by brightening?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So increasing like overall radiance, increasing overall glow, that sort of thing. Definitely things like the pearl mask are really going to help for that. But also brightening, like addressing the look of dark spots and pigmentation. That tends to be a big concern for people as they age. So products like the Brighten and the Citrus Stem Cell Serum.
Customer: Ok, thank you. I really appreciate the personalized approach that you guys have going through all of this.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You’re so welcome. Yea, sometimes it is nice to have a smaller group because I am able to personalize things a bit more.
