Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Your basic routine, the kind of general recommendation that we recommend to do both morning and evening for pretty much anybody is a four step routine that consists of cleansing, toning, using a serum, and then a moisturizer or a facial oil. For us, all of our moisturizers right now are oils. All of our facial moisturizers are oils. So that's kind of the basic recommendation. Like I said, you would do that morning and evening. I always like to tell people, you know, I think it's best to really just customize your routine as much as possible, kind of finding what works best for you, what works best for your skin, what works best for your lifestyle. Maybe you are somebody who currently has no skincare routine, so you're probably not going to jump into a six step routine that takes you 30 minutes morning and night. And that's totally fine. Maybe you want to start out with the most basic routine, which would be like a cleanser and a facial oil. You could start there just with those two products. And once you're feeling really good about that and being consistent, maybe you want to add in something else. So you could kind of build, build your routine from there. But we will start with cleansing and cleansers because whether your routine has two steps or 10 steps, you're going to start with cleansing. So cleansing is going to just remove makeup and impurities from the skin. A thorough cleanse is going to help to prep the skin so that it can better absorb at your treatment products so that they can work more effectively. All of our cleansers are pH balanced, which I think is important to note. A lot of more conventional cleansers that tend to have high foaming properties, they can use harsh surfactants like lauryl sulfates that tend to be more alkaline and that can disrupt your skin's acid mantle. So ours are all pH balanced. We also don't use any harsh surfactants in our cleansers. The surfactant that we use is the sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate which sounds very fancy, but it's really just saponified oils and plant starches and sugars. So it's a very safe, low foaming option. And the four cleansers that we've got in the line are the Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Citrus Mint Cleanser, the Phytonutrient Cleanser, and the Restorative Cleansing Oil.
I don't know where all my cleansers are. But those are the four.
Before we even get into those within the line we do have a few different collections. So I like to kind of touch on that a little bit first. We have two main collections. The two main collections are the Signature Collection. All of those products have the tan labeling. And then the other collection that we have is the Wild Alchemy Collection. All of those products have the black and gold labeling. The signature collection, these products are like our best selling products. A lot of these products have been around since we first got started. Whereas the Wild Alchemy Collection, this collection of products, this is our like luxury line. And kind of what makes it our luxury line is just that the products in this collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients. So things like our bioactive A complex, which is our retinol alternative, things like our pure vitamin C, our THDA and then they also contain more exotic ingredients that are globally sourced. So things like marula oil, baobab oil, mongongo oil. These kinds of unique ingredients that you don't typically hear of often. But so those are the two main collections.
We do have a couple of others like smaller collections. We won't really focus on those too much today. But like our Essentials Collection, that one is just two products. It's the Renew Cream Cleanser and the Radiate Facial Oil.
That collection is actually offered at a lower price point than any of our other products. And the reason for that is just that those two products don't contain our herb infusions. So they're just really simple formulas. The crafting process, the way that they're made is more simple. But there's still great products. They can be really great for more sensitive skin. They can also be really nice for maybe somebody who's just kind of getting started on a routine, maybe like a teen or something like that. And then the other collection that we have, the smaller collections we have the Estate Blend Collection, which right now, the only product that we have in that collection is the divine woman elixir.
And this is pretty new. We actually just came out with this edition of the divine woman elixir. That one, the Estate Blend Collection right now, like I said, that's the only product in the collection. But the thing about this collection that kind of sets it apart, that makes it unique, is that the herbs that are used in the products in this collection are grown on Moss Creek Farm, which is Kevin and Anne Marie's property. It's their farm. So they are the ones growing the herbs themselves and harvesting the herbs and all of that. But this is fantastic. I'm obsessed with it. So That's the only one in that collection right now, and it's just like I said, those are kind of smaller collections. The two main ones that we'll focus on are the Signature and the Wild Alchemy. So, the two cleansers in the Signature collection are the Aloe Herb Cleanser and the Citrus Mint Cleanser.
The Aloe Herb Cleanser, this one is very popular. This is our best selling cleanser. If you have ever gotten one of our starter kits or our trial kits, you've probably tried this one. It's fantastic. People love it. This one is great for all skin types. So I like to tell people if you're confused, if you're overwhelmed, if you're not sure where to start, this can be a good one to choose. It's of course an aloe vera base. Aloe is very rich in vitamins and minerals rich in phytonutrients and enzymes. So full of nutrients for the skin. This one also has calendula in it, which is really soothing and calming. Great for leaving any temporary redness in the skin if you tend to be prone to redness. This one has some coconut oil that contributes to your skin. that creamy texture. It's got some lemon essential oil, which is purifying and brightening. It also gives it a really lovely smell. I think that's part of why this one's so popular. People love the way it smells. So that is the aloe herb.
The other one in the signature collection is the Citrus Mint Cleanser. This is our purifying gel cleanser. So this is going to be more for like oily skin types. It's again, an aloe vera beast. But then it just has that more purifying herb blend. So like the neem, the witch hazel distillate, the rosemary it feels pretty cool and refreshing on the skin but that's the citrus mint.
And then the two in the Wild Alchemy Collection. Like I said, I don't know where mine are, but we have the Restorative Cleansing Oil and the Phytonutrient Cleanser.
The Phytonutrient Cleanser, that one is good for all skin types. It's especially good for dry and mature skin. It's also an excellent one for brightening the appearance of dark spots or pigmentation or just kind of general brightening.
And are, you know, a goal of yours, that can be a good choice. This one is probably our most active cleanser. It's also our most rich cleanser. So it's got mango seed butter in it. So it's a creamy cleanser similar to the aloe herb but it's a little bit like thicker, richer, almost fattier texture, from the mango seed butter. And then that one also has our apple extract in it. The apple extract is rich in vitamin C and malic acid. So that's going to help with brightening the look of skin. This one's got some acai in it, so giving it an antioxidant component. It's got some coconut oil as well in there.
Trying to think if I'm forgetting anything with that one. It's got our signature serum blend, but that is the phytonutrient. And then lastly is the restorative cleansing oil. So that one is a little bit different.
All of the other cleansers, you use them just like a traditional cleanser. You're going to dampen your face, massage, pump your cleanser into the palm of your hands, massage it into the skin. Rinse it clean and then just pat your skin dry. The restorative oil you use a little bit differently because it is an oil. So with that one, you're going to apply it to dry skin with dry hands. So, you pump it, massage it into the skin and then rinse clean. You can just rinse it clean and that can be it. Some people like to remove that one with a warm cloth or a warm towel. You also can use that one as the first step in a double cleanse routine if you wanted to. So if you were going to do that. dry skin, dry hands, massage it in, rinse it off, and then just follow with whatever cleanser you like as your second cleanser.
I'm a huge fan of oil cleansing. I love oil cleansing. I love oils in general. And this is fantastic. The restorative cleansing oil. It's fantastic for any skin type. For dry and mature skin. skin. It feels very nourishing. It actually leaves like a bit of oil on the skin, especially if you're just rinsing it to remove. But it's also excellent for people that are prone to congestion, blackheads. That was mentioned as a concern for somebody in the group. And this can be an excellent choice for that. It sounds kind of counterintuitive, but like actually attracts like, so it's science. So the oil is going to actually attach to oil based impurities in the skin. It helps to kind of soften up excess congestion and oil in the skin. So if you were. I mean, always, but especially if you're using it for that concern for the blackheads and congestion, just as you massage it into the skin, just really focus your massage on those areas that tend to get congested. Usually, you know, around the nose or down around the chin and mouth area, just as you massage, really like focusing on those areas with your massage. And then again, just rinse, remove it with a warm cloth. If you want to follow it with a second cleanser, if you would like, you don't have to. And that one, it's a jojoba oil base.
So jojoba oil very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. It's also got castor oil in it. It's got tea tree oil, which is purifying. That one has Manuka oil as well, manuka is very like deep cleansing and calming to the skin. That is the Restorative Cleansing Oil! Those are the four cleansers. Does anybody have questions about cleansing or cleansers?
Customer: If, if we have a septic system, Do we have to be concerned when we're Washing off an oil cleanser, and it's gonna get into our septic system?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That's a strange question, but a really good question. I don't know. No, I don't think that should be an issue. I mean, I've, I've never thought of that actually, but I've been oil cleansing for quite some time now, and my husband has never said, you clogged up the septic.
Customer: Okay. I think it should be okay. Okay.
I do have a question real quick.
When we're trying to decide which cleanser to start off with, will you be able to guide us based on our skin types? Yeah, I didn't know this is gonna be more focused on each individual person or
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. I mean, we can kind of do it however! A lot of times we do that. I'm more than happy to do that. So if you would like to tell me a little bit about your skin, I'm happy to recommend one of them for you.
Customer: Okay. For me I am 58 and I tend to get a little bit of the t-zone still as far as oiliness.
Yeah, more dry here and normal here, I guess you can say. So I kind of have combination skin.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Yeah.
Customer: In the morning I do all my routine with all the steps that I have with the current product that I'm using. Okay. You know, within an hour or two, I feel like I'm already shiny, you know, and it's like I'm patting myself because I'm getting too shiny.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah I would say with the cleanser, I think you would probably be okay like I feel like it's not as much of a concern with the cleanser because you are removing it, you know? So I wouldn't be concerned that it's too heavy or oily or anything like that. So if your main concern is like aging and that sort of thing, then I do love the Phytonutrient Cleanser. I think it could be a great option. Or even the Aloe Herb Cleanser. I think either would be fine. I use both of those interchangeably. So I think you would be fine. And then I would maybe, like, as we go into the toning mist, I would maybe incorporate the Rosemary Toning Mist for you. I personally love, we can actually move on to toning mist. Cause that would be the next step in your routine. After cleansing, you would pat your skin dry and then mist your toning mist over your face and neck. And we have three in the line. They're the Neroli Toning Mist, the Rosemary Toning Mist, and the Botanical Hydration Mist with Immortelle. And I actually love the Rosemary Toning Mist. I tend to be a little bit more prone to congestion, like in the past I struggled with clogged pores and all that sort of thing. So this one is, would be an excellent one to incorporate for you, because I love it because it's still like offering that dose of hydration, but then you've got those more purifying herbs in there like the rosemary.
This one has white willow bark, the aloe vera base, of course. So that is going to be excellent for helping with any of that excess oiliness. And you can even mist this throughout the day. Like if you start to feel oily, this can be a great one to just mist Throughout the day to help with that kind of little bit of excess oil.
Customer: Okay.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah. You named three toners and you were speaking really quickly and I didn't understand the names of the three toners. I got Rosemary and the Neroli, but I didn't get the third one.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, no worries. The Rosemary Toning Mist is the one we just talked about. This one is going to be great for more normal combinations or oily skin types. Or even if you're somebody who's more concerned with aging or something, but you still kind of like Yvonne tend to get some oiliness. This can be a great option. The Neroli Toning Mist. This is the other one in the signature collection. This one is our most popular. People love this one. It's great for normal and combination, dry, even a little bit of sensitivity. Like I said, very popular. Can't really go wrong with it. It's the aloe vera juice base and then it's got some, aspen bark extract. So the Aspen Bark extract is just acting as a natural preservative. It's also a natural source of salicins. And then the neroli. So the neroli is derived from fresh orange blossoms. So it smells really lovely. So I think that's part of why people like this one so much. Like I said, this would be our most popular, our best selling. And then lastly, the last toning mist that we have is this Botanical Hydration Mist with Immortelle. And that is the one, excuse me, in our Wild Alchemy Collection. There's just one in that Wild Alchemy Collection. This one, again, it's great for any skin type. It's especially good for sensitive skin. It has a blend of four different types of chamomile in there, and then it's also got some rose in there, which is really soothing and nurturing. This one is, I would say, two geared toward anti-aging, and then it's got the Immortelle or the Life Everlasting flowers, which are a really potent antioxidant.
And then it's also got the Frankincense, which is known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate. Scent profile, I don't know if You know, sometimes that's a thing for people. The rosemary obviously smells like rosemary. The neroli, that sweeter scent from the orange blossom. This one is more of like an herbal scent with like that frankincense in there.
This one is very popular though amongst the team. This is Grace's favorite. But Grace is our sensitive skin poster child here at Annmarie Skin Care. So she has very sensitive skin.
Yeah, absolutely.
Customer: If, if I were to use the Phytonutrient Cleanser, do I need to stick with the Wild Alchemy toner or does the neroli, could you mix between the two collections?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, absolutely. You can mix and match between the two collections. I do it all the time.
Customer: Okay.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Like some of my favorites are in Wild Alchemy. Some of them are the Signature. You can absolutely mix and match. Thank you. Yeah, of course. Good question. Okay, so those are the toning mists. And so like I said, after you cleanse, you're going to rinse your cleanser, pat your skin dry, mist your toning mist. And then it says on our packaging of the toning mist, to mist, let it dry, and then apply your serum, and then apply your facial oil. I don't love that recommendation. I would mist, and then while your skin is still damp from your toning mist, apply your serum. That's going to help with absorption, so that your serums and your oils are absorbed really nicely into the skin, so they don't ever feel like they're just kind of sitting on top of the skin.
And then like I was telling Yvonne, you can mist your toning mist throughout the day if you just want a boost of hydration or if you tend to be more oily and you want that mattifying effect that you got from the rosemary. You can mist throughout the day. I love Tony Mist. I can't live without Tony Mist. Sometimes I'll mist too, like, after I apply my facial oil, which you absolutely don't have to do. But I feel like, again, it just kind of dilutes that oil a little bit more, so it has a really nice finish on the skin. But so those are your toners. And then the next step in your routine would be your serum. So I feel like serums are where things start to get a little bit confusing for people just because we do have a lot of them. But serums in general are excellent hydrators. So there is the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water and dry skin, which is skin that's lacking oil.
Most people have a little bit of both, a little bit of dehydration, a little bit of dryness. And so we recommend using a combination of hydrating products and moisturizing products to kind of just keep that, like, optimum balance in your skin.
Customer: Could you repeat that statement about which one's lacking water and which one's lacking oil?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, absolutely.
Customer: Please. Thank you.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Dehydrated skin is lacking water and dry skin is lacking oil. And so product wise, your hydrators that are going to hydrate dehydrated skin are your toning mist and your serum. And then your moisturizer that's going to moisturize dry skin is your facial oil. So that's kind of why we recommend that kind of combination. Even if like, say you like if you're just, well, I guess this kind of goes hand in hand with like the toning mist, like I was talking about. Say you want to start out with just the two products, just the cleanser and the facial oil. I would recommend that when you apply your facial oil, you're making sure that your skin is still a little bit damp. Even if it's just from water after cleansing your face. Helping with that hydration, you know but so the serum in general is a hydrator. Serums in general also usually contain high levels of activated ingredients. So they allow you to kind of target and treat whatever your specific concerns are. They allow you to kind of customize your routine a little bit. Serums also are made up of a. A smaller molecule than a facial oil, so they're able to penetrate more deeply and they're sitting closest to the skin. So again, getting those activated ingredients deeper into the skin. And like I said, we have several in the signature collection, there are three, the Anti-Aging Serum, The Probiotic Serum with Tremella, and the Citrus Stem Cell Serum.
So the Anti-Aging Serum. This one is our most popular. People love this one. This is probably our best selling product. Again, if you've gotten one of our starter kits or our trial kits, you've probably tried it. And also this is kind of like with the aloe herb cleanser, how I tell people, if you're confused, if you're overwhelmed, if you don't know where to start, just get the aloe herb. This is kind of similar. I feel like if you are feeling overwhelmed, You could choose this one. You just kind of can't go wrong with it. It's good for all skin types. I like to refer to it as just a daily dose of overall skin nutrition. It's very antioxidant rich. It's got life everlasting flowers. It's got buddleia extract. There's some rose in there. So again, soothing and nurturing. And then this one is very hydrating. It's got hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular can hold 1, 000 times its weight in water. So it's considered a super hydrator. So I really like deeply hydrating. The skin is gonna kind of have a plumping effect on the skin, whereas if your skin is dehydrated, it's gonna emphasize the appearance of fine lines. Hyaluronic is like a pretty popular ingredient that you'll find in skincare products. We use a non GMO vegetable sourced hyaluronic acid in the serum. And yeah, like I said, so deeply hydrating, very antioxidant rich, kind of good for anybody. And the scent profile for this one is a little bit more floral, a little bit like vetiver heavy, you can smell the vetiver in there.
And then the next one is the Probiotic Serum with Tremella. This one is also in the Signature Collection. This one, again, is great for all skin types, but especially for sensitive skin or skin that's kind of out of balance. It has a probiotic ferment in it that can help to balance the pH of the skin.
It also can help to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin. This one has also got astaxanthin, which is a powerful antioxidant. It's got olive leaf extract. So again, great for sensitive skin or skin that's out of balance. And the scent profile on this one, some people don't like it. Some people say it smells like dirt. I think it smells nice. I would say if you have a strong aversion to mushrooms, maybe don't go with this one. Because it's got the tremella mushroom extract in there and that tremella mushroom acts kind of similar to hyaluronic acid. So like really deeply hydrating the skin.
And then lastly in the signature collection is the Citrus Stem Cell Serum. That one I don't have here, but that one Again, anybody really could use it, but it's especially good for skin that's had a lot of exposure to the elements, kind of that thicker texture, almost like leathery skin, skin that's had a lot of sun exposure. The citrus stem cell can be a good option for pigmentation, like if you have just a couple of the appearance of dark spots that you're working to lighten the appearance of, it could be a good choice. It's good for that, like, targeted brightening. And this one, there's kind of two components to it. So there's the citrus derived stem cells. We use plant stem cells in our products. A lot of skincare lines use stem cells in their products. Sometimes they can be derived from animals. Sometimes they can even be derived from humans. So ours are always plant derived. These ones specifically are citrus derived. But these stem cells are going to provide the skin with, like, proteins and peptides and amino acids and things that are really going to kind of strengthen the skin to support healthy, resilient skin. So that's kind of the one aspect of this serum.
And then the other side of it is the brightening component or the brightening aspect. And this serum contains a trio of brighteners. It's the Omelaberry, which is very rich in vitamin C and then licorice root and uva ursi. Uva ursi are both lightening and brightening ingredients. You will find licorice root in a lot of natural skincare products as an alternative to like hydroquinone, which is like a nasty ingredient that's banned everywhere but the United States. So that's the Citrus Stem Cell Serum. And those are the three that are in the Signature Collection.
So I tend to think of those ones as like a little bit more targeted because then in our Wild Alchemy Collection we have our Wild Fruit Serum. And this one I tend to think of as a little bit more all encompassing, kind of overarching.
I like to refer to this serum as our do it all serum. It's hydrating, it's brightening, it's anti-aging, it does it all. And this is my personal favorite, I love this one. Oh, citrus stem cell, that one obviously scent profile's like a little bit more citrusy. This one, scent profile, is a little more fruity. Which is probably part of why I like this one, because I do like that kind of more fruity scent profile. But this one is excellent for all skin types. It's got a copper infused water in it which is kind of a cool, unique ingredient. This one has apple extract, so it's the same apple extract that's in the Phytonutrient Cleanser. So, again, rich in vitamin C. C and malic acid to help with brightening. This one has knotweed extract, which is a potent source of resveratrol. And then this one has cockatoo plum extract. So cockatoo plum is another really potent source of vitamin C. C. Cockatoo plum also contains phenolic acid. Phenolic acid behaves on the skin similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. You've probably heard of alpha hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acids kind of dissolve the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. So they have an exfoliating effect on the skin. So they're going to help to improve texture and tone. So that's something for me again in this one that kind of sets it apart a little bit. I'm trying to think of something else. This one has Madonna Lily plant cells. It's got a really dense infusion of those plant cells. There's about 1. 5. There's a million active plant stem cells in each bottle of this. So that's the wild fruit again. Great choice for pretty much anybody. It's brightening. Like I said, it's got anti-aging properties, so that's a great one.
And then, we also have our Activated CBD Serum. I might kind of skip over that one depending how we're feeling. Do we want to talk about CBD?
Customer: I'm interested in CBD.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, cool. The Activated CBD Serum, this one is kind of like an offshoot of our Wild Alchemy Collection. It's just sold in its own little boutique on our site. Which is just because of the legality of selling a CBD product. Anyways so the Activated CBD Serum, yes, sold in its own little boutique on our site. This one, again, I would say it's kind of that, like, all encompassing serum. It's really good for all skin types. It's especially great for sensitive skin. So again, Grace is kind of our sensitive skin girl on the team and her two like holy grail products, she says, are the botanical hydration mist and the Activated CBD Serum.
So this one, it's very hydrating. It's got both the hyaluronic acid and the tremella mushroom. extract in it. It has like a little bit of a kind of thicker, creamier texture than some of our other serums. So it feels very nice and hydrating. The scent profile is lovely. I never really know how to describe it, but it's very like clean smelling. Grace says she thinks it smells like fresh cut grass or fresh linen. I don't really know, but it smells great. And this one, so it's got the CBD. CBD when we decided to create this product, we of course wanted to source the best. So we partnered with Ojai Energetics to source our CBD. And they are really a leader and a pioneer in the CBD space. It's a little bit hard to say exactly what CBD does for the skin, because it kind of works with your body's natural endocannabinoid system to sort of go where it's needed to go and do what it's needed to do. But like I said, it's extremely soothing and calming. And then this one, like I said, is very hydrating with both the tremella and the hyaluronic. There's a lot of potent antioxidants in here. There's the astaxanthin that we talked about. There's mang superoxide dismutase. It does have mangosteen oil. It's got black cumin seed oil in here. So that is the CBD. What else?
And then lastly, the last serum that we'll talk about is the Activated Night Serum. See, there's lots of serums. The activated night serum. This is our most recent serum launch. It's fantastic. This one contains our bioactive A complex, which is our retinol alternative. So retinol is another really popular retinoid. Any type of vitamin A derivative is very popular to be used in skincare, especially anti aging skincare products, but it's not really great for your health. Like it can be harmful to reproductive health. Even for your skin health, if you're using a retinol product over an extended period of time it can start to thin the skin a little bit, which isn't really what you want. We don't want to thin the skin.
We want to have healthy, resilient skin as we age. And then also traditional retinols. you know, they increase sun sensitivity which this one you do want to use it with an SPF just to be kind of on the safe side. But they increase sensitivity. A lot of times people with more sensitive skin types aren't able to use a traditional retinol because they can be kind of irritating to the skin. So that's why we came out with this because we wanted to offer something that had kind of similar benefits to using a retinol without any of those kinds of negative aspects. So this one, the Bioactivate Complex is our retinol alternative. It's a completely safe ingredient. It's derived from algae. It's a MADE SAFE approved ingredient. And it has that similar effect on the skin. So it has that like resurfacing, renewing effect. that you get with a retinol type product. So excellent if you're focused on anti-aging, excellent if you're focused on brightening. It can even be helpful for things like congestion prone skin or congested prone congestion prone skin. This one, It's nice because it's a nice balance in this serum. You've got the activated bioactive A and then we've paired it with lavender and blue chamomile and all these really nice kind of soothing calming ingredients. So even those with more sensitive skin usually can use this. Grace uses this one I think not every night but like every other night.
Yeah, so that's the activated CBD. I'm trying to think if I'm forgetting anything about that one. You do want to use this one only at night. And like I said, we do suggest wearing it with an SPF during the day. Any of the other serums you can use morning or night. This is the only one that you want to use just at nighttime.
Cool. Okay. I think that covers all of the serums. Serum questions?
Customer: They all sound so amazing with the oils that are in them. Do you ever switch back and forth? Tonight I want citrus, tomorrow I want an activated night. You know, that kind of, that kind of thing. I mean, does it hurt? Does it hurt to switch them up?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Not at all. We have a lot of customers that do that. Because we do have so many and people want to use different ones, you know. We don't really recommend mixing them together, you know, in the same package. Absolutely you can alternate and use citrus in the morning and anti aging at night or Wild fruit in the morning and activated night, at night. You can absolutely do that. Or you can alternate, like, you know, get a citrus stem cell and use it all up and the next time maybe you want to get wild fruit serum or whatever. And yeah, then you're just kind of getting the benefits of like more, of these different ingredients into your routine, you know? So I think it's great to switch them up.
Customer: So is the recommendation generally to just use one per routine? You just said don't mix them, right? So I'm asking.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I just mean don't mix them. Like you wouldn't put a pump of citrus stem cell and a pump of anti aging serum and mix them up and apply it.
Customer: Right. But like layering them. In the morning, or layering one or two, two or three, that, that would, that's recommended, that's okay?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I still feel like that would kind of be overkill, I would Yeah, that's
Customer: My question, right, do you recommend just one at a time, but like, switch up the days? Yes,
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I recommend just one at a time, but you can choose if you want to do one in the morning and a different one at night, or maybe you want to do one on Monday and a different one on Tuesday or something.
Customer: Okay. Yeah. Thank you. That was my question.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Sorry if that was confusing! All right. Cool. Any other questions?
Customer: So you had mentioned the difference, there was dehydrated skin and dry skin. How do we know? What type would we have?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Well, like I said, most people have a little bit of both. Like, most people have a little bit of dehydration and a little bit of dryness in the skin. It's kind of hard, like dehydration. It's kind of hard to say how you would know. I mean, I feel like when I was doing facial treatments, a lot of times I could like, kind of see. It's like sometimes if you kind of like, press the skin together, you get like, those little, I don't know, like, lines, like, almost like, kind of creepy looking. So it's kind of hard to say, but like I said, most people have a little bit of both. The dryness, you might notice more if you have like, you know, kind of flaky skin or anything like that, then that's going to be more of the dryness. But yeah, most people have a little bit of both. So it's important to use, Some kind of moisturizer, which for us is facial oil, and some kind of hydrator, which is your toner or your serum, or both.
Customer: And your products with the oils, they would penetrate the skin and not just sit on top. Because I've used products where, you know, they're oils, but then you feel like They're just sitting on top of your face and you feel like oily and you don't want to touch anything.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah it definitely can be a shift like if you are somebody who is used to using a lotion or a cream, which we are. I don't know exactly when. Eventually, we are going to be coming out with a cream or a lotion option. But as of now, it's just the oils. I personally love oils. I think it can take a little bit of getting used to, like I was saying, if you are not somebody who's used to that. My recommendations are to always apply when your skin is still slightly damp from your toning mist. I tend to really overuse my oil because I like to massage it into the skin, but you really don't need that much. If you're somebody who's just getting used to it, I would use like, I mean you could start out by even just using a pump, maybe two pumps, and apply it when your skin's still damp. You could just do a pump in the palm of your hand, dot it on, and then massage it in. Oh, that smells so good. Or you can put it into your hands and press it into the skin. You can kind of play around with that and see what you like. And then also, like I mentioned, sometimes. After I apply my facial oil, I'll mist my toning mist again which again you don't have to do, but that can kind of just help to dilute the oil a little bit further so it shouldn't feel like it's just sitting on the skin. It should absorb nicely into the skin and just like I said, applying to damp skin and using less are probably your best two bets as you kind of transition into using an oil. And the reason that we have chosen oils as our moisturizers is just because oils are more pure. They don't require any fillers or waxes to be used. Your skin's natural form of moisture is oil. So they're absorbed really easily by the skin. Like, as far as not having to have any fillers and waxes and that sort of things, like, a lot of times if you go to the drugstore and you grab a cream moisturizer, one of the first ingredients is often water and so that's kind of a red flag because A, ingredients are usually listed by, like, level of concentration, so you don't really want water to be at the top of the list, and then the, like, activated ingredients to be at the bottom of the list. And then also if there's water in a product, the bacteria can grow more easily. So then they have to include more preservatives and things like that. Whereas if you're using pure oils, you don't have to include water, so it's not an issue, you know? So kind of another benefit of using oils. I used to be very like, No oil can touch me. And now I'm like, let me bathe in oil. That's
Customer: Good to know that you guys don't use oil water in your products. That's one thing that I learned over the years is look at your ingredients. And if it says water, then that means there's a preservative in there.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Absolutely.
Customer: Yeah!
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I feel like I like to tell people that too because a lot of times people aren't sure, you know, it can be really overwhelming to like look at the back of a, an ingredient list and be like, I don't know what any of this stuff is. That's like such an easy thing for anybody to look for and be like, Oh, you know, we use that aloe vera juice base in most of our products, like, you know, for like cleansers and things like that. Toners that would typically include water. Yeah. Yeah. Good questions, guys. Yay for questions.
Customer: The other product you always see in store bought products is mineral oil.
And I definitely stay away from that.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, yeah. Like the, like, petroleum derived. Tell me about it. My husband still, like, refuses to get rid of his, like, Vaseline lotion. Oh. This, like, green bottle makes me crazy.
Customer: Speaking of men, do you guys have men's products?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: We don't have anything that's specifically geared towards men, you know, but men can absolutely use any of our products.
Yeah. Yeah.
Customer: Emily, can I raise a question? Of course. Thanks for saying that oil is better than water. Actually, I didn't know that before. I also always use water, feel not so sticky to my skin, but now after using coconut oil for quite a while, sometimes I try some castor oil. Yeah, it feels good. Sometimes it's quite difficult to let it get penetrated into the skin. Yeah, the oil, which is thicker.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. You should try it. Like if you're going to use pure oil, I tend to recommend that people choose jojoba oil. So if you've never tried jojoba before, that's a great one to try.
When I was really struggling with my skin and struggling with congestion prone skins and that sort of thing I kind of went towards doing, like, nothing. So I would do honey cleansing and then jojoba oil and that worked really well. So jojoba's kind of my, like I said earlier, jojoba really closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum, so it's a really nice choice if you're wanting to use just like a pure oil.
Customer: I see. And then, I mean, I know that because actually I am looking for basic healthy products rather than beautifying with beautifying because I'm already 68 . Yeah. So as long as it's healthy and without chemicals, I'm very happy already. So because I'm very busy, I'm very busy, occupied in handling my health issues. So may I know that, can I narrow down the procedure to just one thing for cleaning and one thing for moisturizing my face and my body like this? Are there any products you can recommend to me?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. So that, like I was saying, if you want to do the most simple routine, you would do a cleanser and an oil. So I would do the aloe herb cleanser as your cleanser.
And then you're wanting a product that you can use for body moisture and use the same product on your face. No, no, no,
Customer: Okay. Can be separate. Okay. For this. Yeah. The skin needs moisturizer too, because it's sometimes quite, quite dry. But my skin is fair, a little bit sensitive, no big problem.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I would do the Aloe Herb Cleanser and then probably the Anti-Aging Facial Oil because you mentioned you tend to get dry sometimes. Yes, Anti-Aging Facial Oil. That one's really popular. It's a jojoba base. So I would probably just start with those two products if you're just wanting something really simple. And then as far as a body product we have a body lotion and then we have body oils. And you can just choose based on what your personal preference is. The Radiant Skin Silk, that's our body lotion. And then we have like the Coconut Body Oil and the Divine Woods Body Oil. The body oils are sort of similar.
I would say the main difference is like the types of oils, but also like the scent profile. So if you're just wanting something basic, I'd probably choose the Coconut Body Oil. Yes. I do really like the Divine Woods, but it's like more, it's just that woodsy fragrance. So that's just kind of personal, if you like that or not. And then, or you could do the Radiant Skin Silk Body Lotion if you prefer a lotion over an oil for your body.
Customer: Oh, I see. So may I know what is the difference? Because castor oil is very popular nowadays. So, you mentioned about the, what is it called? Jojoba? Yeah, Jojoba. What is the difference between the two?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You know, I haven't used castor oil myself, so I'm not sure. I always just gravitate, gravitate towards the jojoba, because like I said, it really closely resembles your skin's natural sebum and it's very moisturizing, but without causing any sort of congestion or anything like that. So I don't, I haven't used the castor myself, so I feel like I can't really compare the two, you know?
Customer: I see. But good. You give me the recommendation of another substitute. Awesome. Yeah, by the way, I got the information that you have mentioned, because I'm not good at writing, putting down later for the email. The one you recommend for me because you know, I'm not very good at writing things down.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician:Yeah, yeah. I could just email it to you really quick. Do you want to put your email in the chat? Oh, sure, sure. Okay, perfect. Yeah. So I'll make myself a little note.
Anti-Aging Facial Oil and Coconut Body Oil.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: All right.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Did you guys have any other questions?
Customer: Oh, yes. I'm talking about body oils and lotion. Is that better for hydrating or are they all about the same? I have really crepey skin on my arms. Okay,
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I would really recommend the Radiant Skin Silk then.
Customer: Radiant Skin Silk. Yeah, that one is
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: It is really popular for dry skin. People like that one a lot for that. Thank you. Yeah, of course. Good questions. Any other questions guys?
Customer: You mentioned the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. Are there other facial oils?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, we just haven't got there yet, but we could do facial oils right now. We do have several facial oils, kind of like we have several serums. In the signature collection, we have the herbal facial oils. So there's the herbal facial oil for normal combinations. And then we skin, the herbal facial oil for oily skin, and the herbal facial oil for sensitive skin. These obviously are kind of self explanatory because they're named for the skin type they're designed for. All of them are a grapeseed oil base. So grapeseed is a very light textured skin balancing oil. quickly absorbed. And then they all just contain an herb blend tailored toward the skin type it's made for. So, like the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin has the black cumin seed in the name. The herbal facial oil for sensitive skin, that one has no added essential oils. It's a bunch of omega rich oils like camellia seed and sacha inchi. And then the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin. That one's like skin balancing oil.
That one's got some goji, some echinacea, tamanu I think in that one. And then the other one in the signature collection is the anti aging facial oil. So that one is very popular. Again, one of our best sellers. That one is just a very nourishing, restorative facial moisturizer for dry and mature skin. That one has a bunch of different seed oils in it. Oh, it's the jojoba base also. And then it's got a bunch of different seed oils. So it's got carrot seed oil, chia seed oil, broccoli seed oil. So for example, Chia is rich in vitamin B and zinc. So all those different seed oils. And there's like a dense herb infusion in that one. Like there's a lot of different herbs in the herbal herb infusion. So that one's very popular for dry and mature skin.
And then in the Wild Alchemy Collection, there's just one. It's the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. And this one, this one is our most potent, our most active facial oil. So it's good for all skin types, I would say, except very sensitive.
And kind of the reason that it's more potent, more active is the way that it's made. So the other facial oils, like I was saying, there's like a bunch of different herbs in the infusion. Maybe like 20 different herbs. This one, there's just one herb. It's the butterfly pea flower. And then also in this one, there's fewer seed oils, CO2 extracts, all of that.
And the reason that we chose to include fewer was because then we could include those at higher concentrations at higher percentages. So it makes it more active. It makes it more potent. So that's the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. This one, again, like I said, it's good for all skin types, except for the very sensitive. It's good for It's again the jojoba oil base and then it's got the butterfly pea flower, that's the herb that's in it and then this one's also got like the marula oil, which is very antioxidant rich, the baobab oil, which is brightening it's got the mongongo oil, which is like really softening to the skin So usually for dry and mature skin, people can go either way. They can do the Anti-Aging Facial Oil or the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. And then to make things a little bit more confusing for people, we do also have the Divine Woman right now, which I mentioned at the beginning of the call. And this one is a limited edition facial oil. And the code that we'll give you guys, it doesn't apply to this one, but I still like to mention it because I'm obsessed with it.
So it's also the jojoba oil base. I feel like comparing this one to the rejuvenating, because people are like, what do I choose? What's the difference? This one is, It's more of those, like, traditional, like, calendula, lavender, chamomile, whereas this has those more exotic, like, the marula and the baobab and all of that. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with this. I think, too, like, the scent profile scent profile for the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. This one I feel is kind of similar to the Anti-Aging Serum. It's more like vetiver heavy and then the Rejuvenating. I never really know how to describe this. I feel like it took me a minute to get used to the way this one smells. I do like it, but I don't know how to describe it.
The Divine Woman Elixir is very light. It's almost citrusy, but really light. It just smells fantastic And it feels fantastic. I just love it, but it is a limited edition. So you can keep that in mind because if you fall in love with it, you might not always be able to have it, but I would bathe myself in this if I could. So those are the facial oils. Sorry. That was probably a confusing question about facial oils?
Customer: When do you use them in addition to, or? As opposed to the serum instead of the serum?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, sorry. That's okay. So after you cleanse, pat your skin dry, mist your toning mist, apply your serum, and then apply your facial oil.
Customer: Oh, okay, that's the moisturizing part. Yes,
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That's the moisturizer. If for some reason you were going to just choose one or the other, you would pretty much always choose facial oil.
Like most people would not just use facial oil without an oil. Unless they were like, extremely, extremely oily, maybe.
Customer: I just gapped on that. I forgot. Your oils are the moisturizers. Right,
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. It can be a little confusing.
Customer: I have a question with regards to the Divine Woman Elixir. What skin type was that one for?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: All skin types. It's that jojoba oil base. So as a company, we say that the jojoba oil base is recommended for dry and mature skin. Like I was saying, I personally love jojoba, like for any skin type, even when I was really struggling with acne and congestion, I still was using jojoba. So to me, I think it's a great choice for anybody. I mean, it kind of depends. I don't know what you're currently using, but like sometimes when people say, you know, I wash my face and whatever, and then like two hours later, I feel like I'm so oily. Sometimes it can be because you're not using, your skin's not getting enough moisture and then it's thinking I'm dry, so I'm going to overproduce oil, you know? So to me, I feel like you could kind of can't go wrong with like, I'm
Customer: Curious about that, and I have heard that also. Yeah. Okay. Is it because I'm dry? Why I get oily here, you know, within a couple of hours, it's like, I feel like I'm patting myself. So if I were, that's why I was wondering which one would I, if I do have that supposedly combo skin, or maybe I'm just dry and not realizing it. You know, which one of these three would be good for me?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. So really you would be fine with any of 'em. I feel like a lot of it is like the Divine Woman Elixir, the Anti-Aging Facial Oil, the Rejuvenating Facial Oil, a lot of it is personal preference as far as scent profile and the feel and that sort of thing. Like I said, Rejuvenating Facial Oil. This one is set apart a little bit because it is more potent, it is more active, because it does include fewer of those ingredients at those higher concentrations. So that is something that sets this one apart. And then also, like I was saying, this one is kind of set apart by the fact that it's in the Wild Alchemy Collection, so it has more of those like globally sourced ingredients, versus, say, the Divine Woman has more of those traditional Lavender, chamomile, calendula, but even though they're more traditional, there's still really beautiful ingredients, you know.
Customer: There's a specific product that you could recommend for, like, to tighten. I feel like my skin is starting to loosen more than I want it to, especially like right here. And I was like, what can I, you know, is there something like that, you know, that'll, like, Tighten things because I don't really have wrinkles, believe it or not. I feel like I'm just kind of sagging in this area
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah I would say the products that contain those higher levels of activated ingredients So like that Activated Night Serum would probably be a great one to incorporate For something like that. That would probably be a good pick!
Customer: All right. Perfect.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh my! You guys, it's 12:20. That went fast. Okay. Hold on. Let's pause there and talk really quickly about Exfoliants because exfoliation in general is important in a routine because it's going to help to kind of refine skin's texture. It can help to improve tone And it helps so that you don't get that layer of, like, buildup on the skin. It can help to treat and prevent congestion in the skin. It's kind of a fine line because you want to be careful with exfoliation so that you're not over exfoliating. You know, you don't want to cause any sort of irritation or inflammation in the skin. But you do want to incorporate some type of exfoliation. And we have several different options, of course. The Ayurvedic Facial Scrub. This one is the first one I'll mention. This one is in the Signature Collection. It is a dry, powdered herbal exfoliant. It is very, very gentle. It's essentially like tea. It can be used for all skin types, including sensitive skin. You just shake it into the palm of your hand, mix it with a bit of water to kind of create a paste, massage it into the skin and rinse. It also can be mixed with your cleanser. You can just mix it with the aloe herb cleanser or the phytonutrient or whatever you like. Kind of nice to save a step and then you're getting that cleansing and exfoliation in one. It's very mineral rich. The exfoliating property in this one, the exfoliating ingredient, is fenugreek. It's, like I said, it's a powder, so it's like a really fine grit to that one.
And then the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant, this one is also in the Signature Collection. This is very popular. People love this one. I love this one. I feel like I tend to gravitate towards this one just because it's really easy to incorporate. It's easy to just keep it in my shower. But this one is an exfoliating scrub. So it's like a cream, creamy, exfoliating scrub. It's the kaolin clay base. The exfoliating component in this one is the crushed bamboo, the bamboo stem powder.
It's still a pretty fine grit. So I would say this one is going to be okay for pretty much any skin type. I mean, even Grace has such sensitive skin and she can still use this one. It's a little bit richer than the Ayurvedic. But it's that kaolin clay, so really purifying, really mineral rich. The lavender, so it's got a lavender scent profile. Lavender is of course soothing. The bamboo stem powder, like I said, is the exfoliating component. It's still that pretty fine grit, so still fairly gentle. If you want it to be even more gentle, you could mix it with a cleanser. It's really lovely mixed with the aloe herb cleanser, because you get that lemon lavender scent, which is so nice. This one, most people can use this like two or three times a week. And then the resurfacing facial exfoliant. So those two are both strictly physical exfoliants. They have the scrubby gritty texture that is physically polishing the skin.
Then we have two others, the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant. This one is strictly a chemical exfoliant in the way that it's working on the skin, not that it contains a bunch of chemicals. This one, it's a smooth gel texture. There is no scrub or grit to it. You use it similar to a mask. So you just apply it to clean skin, leave it on for like two or three minutes to start. And then you can work your way up to leaving it on for longer. So you can work your way up to leaving it on for like 10 minutes. It just kind of depends on your skin. skin and how sensitive you are. It's a honey derived lactic acid. That is the exfoliating component in this one. Lactic acid is a very mild alpha hydroxy acid.
It's really nice because again, we've paired that like activated. lactic acid with blue tansy and cucumber and some like soothing cooling ingredients. So it's got that nice balance. This one you would only use like once a week for most people. And you just want to make sure that you're removing it thoroughly. You want to use that one in the evening. And you want to use it with an SPF during the day.
And then lastly is the Radiant C Mask and Polish. So this is our newest exfoliant that we just launched recently. This one, similar to the Ayurvedic, is a dry powder. It's this really beautiful, like, fuchsia color because it has hibiscus in it.
It smells fantastic. It also has a bunch of fruit extracts in there. So there's like lemon peel powder and acerola cherry and strawberry and the cockatoo plum extract. I think there's some goji in here. So it is very vitamin C rich. And this one is fun because it's a multi tasker in two ways. You can use it as an exfoliant or you can use it as a mask.
It's also a multitasker because it is a physical exfoliant. It contains bamboo stem powder. And it's also a bit of a chemical exfoliant because you've got all the acids and enzymes from the fruit powders in there. So a mild chemical exfoliant, but still. So I love that because I love multitasking products. And this one you can use just like you would the Ayurvedic, shake it into the palm of your hand, mix a bit of water, mix it up, massage it in, rinse it off. You can also mix this one right into your cleanser if you would like. You can use this one, like I said, as a mask. So you can mix it with water, apply it, and leave it on for like 15 minutes. You can mix it with yogurt. You can mix it with honey. You can mix it with our Illuminating Pearl Mask. That's like a really great one to mix it with. And this one, it's really good for all skin types. It says on our website, it's not good for sensitive skin, but I know that Grace uses this and has no issue.
And it is like, It feels pretty gentle, it's not really fine grit. So I would say it's pretty much good for any skin type. And you could use this one maybe like three times a week? I feel like I hesitate a little bit with telling people like, use this once a week, use this twice a week, because it really depends on your skin type.
skin. And it also depends on what else you're using. Like if you're using the activated night serum, that has that bit of an exfoliating component to it. Or maybe you're using multiple exfoliants from our line. So, you know, you have to kind of adjust, I guess, based on that. But in general, you could use this like three times a week, probably for most people.
So let's give one away.
Customer: If we still have other products, you know, the other brands that we're using, is it okay to like to mix if you still want to get rid of that stuff? Like I'm out of my toner, so I need toner, or my serum I'm almost out of, you know, so things like that. What, what, what's your thought process on that process, on that?
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I think it's fine. I think the only time you might want to be like a little bit careful is if you're using something like say the activated night serum, if like any of your other products contain other retinoids or alpha hydroxy acids or, you know, more of those activated ingredients, you might need to be a little bit careful. And I think to kind of like to see the full effect of, you know, the result of using our product. You'll see it more if you're just sticking to it, but I think it's totally fine to like to use up your stuff and then switch over slowly.
Customer: Okay. Good to know. Thank you.
Emily – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: All right, you guys. Well, thank you so much. I hope you guys all have an awesome afternoon. And you too. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you. Bye. Bye, everyone.
