Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So those are kind of the two main collections that we have. And those three products, the Aloe Herb Cleanser, Anti-Aging Serum, and Anti-Aging Facial Oil, as I said, they're all in the Signature Collection. They're very popular products, so that's probably a great place to start for you. Especially since it seems like you've given them a bit of a try and it seems like you liked them.
You could start with that, and then you could add in some other products, you know, down the line if you wanted to. Like you might want to incorporate a toning mist. And the Neroli Toning Mist is a really popular one that would probably be a good choice for you. That is also in the Signature Collection.
It's a pretty simple formula. It's an aloe vera juice base, and then the neroli, which the neroli essential oil is derived from fresh orange blossoms, so it has a really lovely scent, so part of why I think that one's so popular is because it smells really lovely. And what else is in there? Just some aspen bark extract, which helps to preserve the product. It's also a natural source of salicins. So that would probably be a good addition.
And going back a little bit to talk about the other products that you tried, the Aloe Herb Cleanser that one, it's great for anybody. I tend to tell people if you're confused, if you're overwhelmed, if you don't know where to start, that can be a good one to start with because you just kind of can't go wrong with it. It's really good for all skin types. It's that creamy, nourishing feel, it has that nice citrusy scent from the lemon essential oil in there which is purifying and brightening for the skin. It's got some calendula, which is really great for soothing and alleviating any temporary redness in the skin. And the aloe, of course, is abundant in nutrients. I'm trying to think what else is in this one…some coconut oil to help moisturize.
And then that Anti-Aging Serum, that one, your serum in general is really good for hydrating the skin. So there's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water, and then dry skin, which is skin that's lacking oil. Most people have a little bit of both. Your serum and your toning mist, those are the hydrating products in your routine. Then your facial oil is providing moisture.
But that Anti-Aging Serum, it's going to be an excellent hydrator.
Serums are also made up of a smaller molecule than a facial oil, so they're able to penetrate more deeply. They usually contain high levels of activated ingredients, so getting those activated ingredients deeper into the skin because they're that smaller molecule, and they're also sitting the closest to the skin because you apply your serum before your oil.
The Anti-Aging Serum, that one is very antioxidant-rich. It's got buddleja extract. It's got life-everlasting flowers. There's some rose in there, so kind of soothing and nurturing as well. That one has hyaluronic acid in it as well. We use a non-GMO vegetable-sourced hyaluronic acid, and hyaluronic is a humectant, so it binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular holds 1,000 times its weight in water, so it's considered a super hydrator. So really deeply hydrating the skin is going to help to kind of have a plumping effect on the skin. Whereas if your skin is dehydrated, it's going to kind of emphasize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
So that's the Anti-Aging Serum. And then the Anti-Aging Facial Oil.
Customer: Hi! Can you hear me? I’m so sorry, I'm on my phone and I was driving and I could hear you, but I couldn't unmute myself. I couldn't figure out how to get on the video. Now I'm home. And I'm relaxed, but I could hear everything. I didn't mean to not be there.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Hi, no worries at all! We will finish touching on these couple of products and then we'll come back and chat about your concerns and see where we're at.
So that's the Anti-Aging Serum and then the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. That one is your moisturizer. All of our facial moisturizers are oils. And the reason that we've chosen oils is just because oils don't require any fillers or waxes to be used. Oils are also readily absorbed by the skin. Your skin's natural form of moisture is oil. So they're absorbed easily by the skin. And the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. Again, a very popular one. This one is great for dry and mature skin types. It's a very nourishing, very restorative facial moisturizer. It is a jojoba oil base, so jojoba very closely mimics the texture of your skin's natural sebum so it's a great choice for drier skin types. I love jojoba oil, I think it's actually a great choice for any skin type. So it’s very moisturizing, and then that one has a really dense herb infusion. It's got a bunch of different seed oils in it as well. Its got chia seed oil, broccoli seed oil, carrot seed oil, sunflower seed oil. Chia, for example, is rich in vitamin B and zinc, so just providing all of these nutrients for the skin.
And then I already kind of mentioned the Neroli mist, and so that's kind of the basic routine that we recommend. In general, our recommendation is to do that four-step routine-cleanser, toner, serum, and oil, both morning and evening.
I do usually tell people that while that’s our general recommendation I think it's kind of best to just find what works for you, find what works best for your skin, for your lifestyle. Maybe you don't want to do four steps, maybe you only want a routine with two steps, and I think that's fine. If that were the case, if you were wanting to choose just two products, you would choose the cleanser and the facial oil.
And then you can also add to and expand that basic routine. We can talk about different exfoliants and eye creams, etc. But let's take a pause there. Did our other gal who joined want to share a bit about your skin, your skin care goals, etc.?
Customer: Well, I'm 67 and I just kind of wanted something basic. I found you through Brightline Eating, she sent out an offer where you could get a trial size of 3 of your serums. I started with the Anti-Aging one and we were taking a trip up north and I just loved the smell! It wasn't overpowering. So I used that a couple of times and I just really like the way it feels.
And today I started using the other one. The Probiotic. I haven’t tried the Citrus one yet.
My eye is still a little red because I fractured my face this summer. I had to have three plates put in and a bunch of screws. So on my survey, I put that I kind of want to pamper myself. And I just kind of wanted basic knowledge, which you've already answered a couple of my questions because I thought, where is the moisturizer in this program? And then I thought, well, maybe it's that oil. And you answered that. And then, um, what was the, I think that was kind of the main thing. And then I just ordered another set, the Clean Beauty Trial, I think you mentioned it earlier. I haven’t gotten it yet, but I think it has the cleanser in it, so I am looking forward to trying that.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That’s perfect. Usually with the serum trio, I tend to tell people, I mean, you can kind of do it however you want, but I recommend that you choose one of the 3 serums and use it all and then choose the next and use it all. That way you can see which one you like the best if you want to invest in a full size. And yeah, if you get the Clean Beauty Trial kit that is great because then you can also try the Aloe Herb Cleanser. As I mentioned, that cleanser is a great choice for just about anybody. It’s great for all skin types.
And then you could choose your serum, whichever one you like from the serum trio that you got.
We already covered the Anti-Aging Serum. The Citrus Stem Cell Serum, that one can be used for all skin types, but it's especially good for thicker textured skin and skin that has had a lot of exposure to the elements. It’s great for addressing the look of dark spots, pigmentation, and sun damage if any of those things are a concern.
And then the Probiotic Serum With Tremella, that one's really good for sensitive skin or skin that's kind of out of balance. It's got a probiotic ferment in it that helps to kind of balance the skin's pH and eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin. And the tremella mushroom extract acts similarly to hyaluronic acid, deeply hydrating skin.
So that is your basic four-step routine. The cleanser, toner, serum, and oil. And yes, that oil is your moisturizer. And I feel like oils, you know, if you're not used to using an oil as your moisturizer, it can take a little bit of getting used to but I'm a huge fan of facial oils. I feel like they just, like I said, it's your skin's natural form of moisture so your skin is just able to absorb it better. And I feel like they really just kind of give you this radiance and this glow more so than you get from a facial cream or lotion.
Also, typically if you go to the drugstore or something and you get a facial cream a lot of times, one of the first ingredients is water. Usually, ingredients are listed by level of concentration, so it's not great if water is at the top of the list because water isn’t doing much for you as far as skin benefit, so you don’t necessarily want that to be the most concentrated ingredient. Also if there's water in the product more preservatives have to be used because bacteria can grow easily. So the nice thing about using a pure oil is that you don't have to include water.
Customer: Well, since I just started using it about a week ago, and I'm in Michigan. I didn't even use my typical moisturizer after because some of the ones I've used, I feel like they just sit on my skin. And the products that came in the kit I got just felt so good. And I thought, okay, are you trying to trick yourself into thinking this is as good as they say? But I really do like the slight fragrance that they have. And I just feel like my skin just does feel nicer. And I think it looks nicer.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That’s great! So happy that you are enjoying the products and they are working well for you so far.
All right, perfect. Well, it sounds like you guys have similar concerns. And so you could go with a similar routine, which I put there in the chat.
Like I said, we do have the Wild Alchemy Collection as well.
So say down the road, you're like, oh, maybe I want to try something else. That Wild Alchemy Collection could be one that you look at. A lot of the products tend to be kind of a step up like I was saying as far as activated ingredients. So to compare, for example, the Aloe Herb Cleanser is our best selling cleanser in our Signature Collection, in the Wild Alchemy Collection, the cleanser you would probably choose would be the Phytonutrient Cleanser.
Both are excellent, both are cream cleansers. The Phytonutrient is a little bit richer in texture. It's kind of a fatty texture from the mango seed butter in it. It’s also got apple seed extract in it, which is rich in malic acid and vitamin C, so it’s excellent for brightening the look of skin.
And then the toner in the Wild Alchemy Collection, is this Botanical Hydration Mist. This one has got immortelle in it, so a very potent antioxidant. It’s also got a blend of four different types of chamomile, so it’s excellent for any kind of redness or sensitivity. There’s also some rose in here. And then the frankincense, which is known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin. But that would be kind of the other option for the toning mist. This one definitely has more of an herbal scent profile, whereas the neroli has that kind of sweeter scent from the neroli essential oil.
And then the Wild Fruit Serum. That one, I don't know where mine is. I do really love the Wild Fruit Serum. It is actually my personal favorite. This one is kind of a step up in my opinion from our Signature Collection serums. It’s more all-encompassing. I like to refer to it as our do-it-all serum. It’s very hydrating, it’s got hyaluronic acid in it. It’s great for brightening the look of skin. It has the same apple extract in it that is in our Phytonutrient Cleanser, so rich in malic acid and vitamin C. It also has kakadu plum extract in it. Kakadu plum is another very potent source of Vitamin C. It also contains phenolic acid. Phenolic acid behaves on the skin similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acids work to dissolve the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells, so they have an exfoliating effect. This one also has a really dense infusion of plant stem cells. This serum in particular contains madonna lily plant cells and there about 1.5 million active plant stem cells in each little bottle. Those stem cells are providing proteins, peptides, amino acids, etc. All these things that really nourish and strengthen the skin. So that would kind of be the alternate option for the serum.
And then the facial oil that's in the Wild Alchemy Collection is the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. This one is also a jojoba oil base. It's a little bit more potent. It's a little bit more active than any of our other facial oils because of the way that we make it. We include fewer of the herbs and the CO2 extracts and the seed oils in this one, but the reason that we include fewer is because then we're able to include them at higher percentages, at higher concentrations. So then it makes it more potent, more active. So this one is a great one, but probably not the best choice if you're very sensitive.
So those are kind of the alternative options in the Wild Alchemy Collection.
Customer: I have a question. You mentioned, I guess, it's the Wild Fruit Serum has hyaluronic acid in it. Can you compare that with retinol for me? I don't know the difference.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, absolutely. So hyaluronic acid like I was saying, it's a humectant, so it binds water to the skin. So it's just really deeply hydrating the skin. So it's completely different than a retinol. And let me pull this next product out. We don't use a traditional, conventional retinol in any of our products.
Retinol or any vitamin A derivatives are obviously very popular in skin care, but they tend to be not great for your health. They can be harmful to reproductive health and even for skin health, if you're using a vitamin A product over an extended period of time, it can start to thin the skin a bit. And we don't want to thin the skin as we age. We want to create really healthy, resilient skin. We want to support our skin's natural barrier, our acid mantle. So, we don't use any traditional retinol, we use a retinol alternative, which is our bioactive A complex. And this ingredient is derived from algae, so it's a completely safe ingredient. It's a Made Safe approved ingredient. The majority of our products are Made Safe approved, which is an independent third-party verification that screens for toxic ingredients. So our bioactive A-Complex behaves in a similar way to a retinol. Retinol has that kind of resurfacing, renewing effect on the skin, so its similar to that.
So they're really completely different. Hyaluronic acid is just hydrating the skin, it's binding water to the skin, and then the retinol alternative, the the bioactive A Complex, that is resurfacing and renewing skin helping to improve texture, helping to improve tone. It is an excellent activated ingredient to include if signs of aging are one of your main concerns.
So the product that contains our bioactive A-Complex, our retinol alternative, is this one here, the Activated Night Serum. And so this serum, it's only to be used at night, and you want to use an SPF with it during the day because it can make you a little bit more sensitive to the sun. But it's definitely not a super aggressive product like a conventional retinol can be. Even sensitive skin types can use this. It's not irritating the way a traditional retinol often is.
So like I said, this one you would only use at night. So you would use say your Anti-Aging Serum in the morning, and then you would use this one at night. And this one, it's nice because it's got a good balance. You've got that activated ingredient, that bioactive A complex. And then you've also got a lot of soothing, calming ingredients in here, like lavender and blue chamomile. So it's a nice balance. This one is also very hydrating. It's got kind of a thicker, richer texture than some of our other serums that are a little bit more aqueous. And it smells lovely.
As I mentioned, usually I have Grace on this call with me, but she is out sick today. She has very sensitive skin and even she is able to use this product. So this is an excellent one to incorporate.
And it could be something, you know, like I was saying, maybe you start out with that trio that we talked about, the Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Anti-Aging Serum, the Anti-Aging Facial Oil, but maybe down the road you think “I kind of want to step it up a notch. Maybe I'm going to incorporate this Activated Night Serum at night.”
So that is a great one.
Okay, do you guys have questions before we move on to anything else?
Customer: So the toner is in a spray? And do you wipe that off or do you leave that on?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: No, you don’t want to wipe it off, you leave it on.
All three of our toners are toning mists, so they have the spray top. And so after you cleanse, you just rinse your cleanser, pat your skin dry, and then mist your toning mist over your face and neck. It says on our packaging to mist your toning mist, let it dry, and then apply your serum and your facial oil. You absolutely can do that. I always recommend to mist your toning mist, and then while your skin is still slightly damp from the toning mist, apply your serum. And then apply your facial oil.
Applying to damp skin is just going to help the serum and oil to absorb better. So, kind of like you were saying before, it helps with that absorption so you don't ever feel like the products are just kind of sitting on top of the skin. You know, they're absorbed really nicely. And then you also can mist your toning mist just throughout the day if you want like a little pick me up or a little boost of hydration. None of our toning mists are harsh or stripping at all, they really are just offering that dose of hydration and then those skin-supporting nutrients like the neroli and the aspen bark extract, etc.
Customer: Then you can spray that on over makeup?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, absolutely.
I'm toning mist obsessed. I just mist all day long.
Customer: So right now I use Thayers rose petal toner. And I really like it because I wash my face, but then when I get done, I'll put that on a cotton ball. And it's like, oh, especially my neck. It's like, how did I miss this? And I’ll just keep using it until the cotton ball comes clean and it just really feels good.
So if I were to keep doing that, would that interfere with everything else?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: No, I think that's fine. I mean, I've used that in the past, the Thayer’s witch hazel toning mists. I mean I of course prefer and recommend using one of our toning mists. The Rosemary Mist is actually my personal favorite. And if you really wanted to you could use our toning mists with a cotton pad. There is no rule against it. I just tend to feel like the cotton absorbs so much of the product it feels sort of wasteful. But there's nothing wrong with doing that if you want to.
I would suggest really making sure that you're thoroughly cleansing to remove everything so that you don’t have that residue after cleansing.
And so a couple of options…
First off, just really focus on taking your time as you cleanse. Thoroughly massage your cleanser into the skin and focus on areas that often get missed like around the hairline or down near the jawline.
You could remove your cleanser with a warm washcloth or warm towel.
You could also play around with doing a double cleanse. Which you can do a couple of different ways. Ideally, you would start by using an oil-based cleanser like our Restorative Cleansing Oil and follow it with a water-based cleanser, or in our case, an aloe vera-based cleanser (since our cleansers don’t contain water). The oil-based cleanser you apply to dry skin with dry hands. Massage it into the skin and then rinse clean or remove with a warm towel. Then you would follow with your Aloe Herb Cleanser or whichever other cleanser you like.
Like attracts like, so the oil cleanser is going to bind to oil-based impurities in the skin to help sweep them away.
Another option would be just cleansing twice with your Aloe Herb Cleanser. So you could just do a very quick cleanse with it and then do a second cleanse being more thorough and taking your time as you massage it.
Customer: Okay. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So I think those are good options, but also if you love that rose toner and you want to keep doing that with your cotton ball, I don't think it's going to hurt anything.
Customer: I have a question now. I too love an oil-based cleaner. I don't use it all the time. But when I do use it I don't feel like I even need to use a moisturizer. And I'd like your input on that. And even when I wash at night sometimes I don’t feel like I need a moisturizer in the morning if I used the oil cleanser to cleanse the night before.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. I mean, I feel like it would depend on the cleanser. So our oil cleanser, if you just rinse to remove it, you don't do a second cleanse, you don't use a washcloth to remove it does leave a bit of oil on your skin. And so for some people, I think that could be enough. So maybe for you, that would feel like enough. When I use it, I do pretty much always use a facial oil after but yeah, I think, with this one it would be okay not to because it does leave that bit of oil on the skin.
If you are using a traditional cleanser, not an oil-based cleanser, you are pretty much always going to want to use a moisturizer or facial oil. Someone would need to be very oily, a truly oily skin type, I would say to be able to use just a serum and not an oil and have that be enough.
I think what you're doing is good too, just like knowing your skin, feeling how your skin feels. If it feels good, if it feels moisturized, it's probably fine.
Customer: So using the aloe cleanser and then the serum and the oil, that's a good program?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, that’s perfect. You might want to just consider incorporating a toning mist as well.
Okay. So then let's go ahead and talk about one of our newer products that I want to touch on, our Radiant C Mask & Polish. So this is an exfoliant. It also can be used as a mask. I know it was mentioned earlier that one of you had tried our Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant and it felt like a little bit too much for your skin. So that one is strictly a chemical exfoliant. Chemical in the way that it works on the skin, not that it contains a bunch of chemicals. It's a smooth gel texture and you use it the way that you would a mask. You just apply it to clean skin. You leave it on, we say to start, we recommend just leaving it on for two to three minutes and then you could work your way up to leaving it on for 10 minutes. And it is a honey-derived lactic acid. That is the exfoliating component in that one. Lactic acid is a very mild alpha hydroxy acid. But that one can feel pretty active, it can feel pretty tingly. I do not have sensitive skin at all, and I do feel it. It feels pretty tingly to me. But I also feel like it's pretty personal because I've had people on the call before who have said they have used it and don't feel anything, don’t feel any activity. So I think it just depends on your skin.
But that one, if you were going to use it, like I was saying, you would use it just once a week. You would apply it to clean skin, leave it on for two or three minutes, and then rinse to remove. And like I said, it's strictly a chemical exfoliant. That honey-derived lactic acid is the only exfoliating thing, the only exfoliating ingredient in that one.
This one, the Radiant C, is both a chemical exfoliant and a physical exfoliant, which I personally love. But it's much more gentle. Like I was saying, Grace is our super-sensitive girl here at Annmarie and she cannot use the Resurfacing Exfoliant, but this one she does use frequently.
So it's a chemical exfoliant because of the enzymes and the acids from the hibiscus and all of the fruit extracts in here. But that chemical exfoliating component in this one is very gentle.
This one is a dry powder. It’s this really beautiful fuchsia color from the hibiscus that’s in it. It’s very vitamin C-rich. It’s got lemon peel powder, seabuckthorn, acerola cherry, and strawberry in it. So it is great for brightening the look of skin.
And then the physical exfoliating property is the bamboo stem powder. And I don't know if you just saw, but it's like a really fine crushed bamboo. It's a fine powder. And so that little bit of grit coming from that bamboo stem powder is what’s giving it the physical exfoliating component. It just gives it that bit of texture or grit that's physically polishing the skin. So I personally love that this product provides both types of exfoliation.
So you can mix this in with your cleanser and kind of save yourself a step, you can cleanse and exfoliate all at once.
And this is a really fun product too, because you can use it a lot of different ways. So you can shake it into the palm of your hand after you cleanse, mix it with a little bit of water, kind of create a paste, buff it into the skin, and then rinse it clean. You can also mix it right in with your cleanser, as I said. Just shake it directly into the Aloe Herb Cleanser or the Phytonutrient Cleanser. It’s beautiful with both of them. And then you can also use it as a mask. You can just mix it with water and apply it, you can just leave it on for like 15 minutes and remove. You can also mix it with different things. You can play around with mixing it with honey. I'm obsessed with Manuka honey. I like to mix it with Manuka honey. You could mix it with yogurt if you wanted to. You can mix it with our pearl mask, our Illuminating Pearl Mask. That one is a really popular product of ours that people love and it mixes really nicely with the Radiant C.
So it's just kind of fun. You can use it a lot of different ways and it's, like I said, very brightening. So it’s awesome. This could be a good alternative option for an exfoliant if the Resurfacing was a bit much.
And then we do have a few other exfoliants, the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, kind of similar to the Radiant C is a dry powder as well. This is very, very gentle. Pretty much any skin type can use this. It's just a dry herbal powder. It's essentially a tea. And you just mix it with water, buff it into the skin, and rinse it. You can mix this one with your cleanser too. It’s very gentle. It’s very mineral-rich. It’s got fenugreek in it, that fenugreek is what's giving it that little bit of gritty texture. It’s got horsetail in it. So like I said, very mineral rich, helpful for strengthening the skin, increasing resilience, and then also purifying for the skin.
And then the other one would be our Kaolin Micro Exfoliant. This one's very popular too. This one, just like the Ayurvedic, is strictly a physical exfoliant. There is no chemical exfoliant in here. It's just that scrubby, gritty texture that's physically polishing the skin. And the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant, this one is a cream exfoliating scrub. It's also got the bamboo stem powder in it. That's the exfoliating property in this one. And again, its very mineral rich, very purifying with that kaolin clay in there. It's got lavender in there, so that's the scent profile. This one's really popular. I love this one. I use this one often, I think partly just because it's really easy to incorporate. I like to just keep it in my shower. And this one you would use just like two or three times a week for most people.
So exfoliation can be really helpful for preventing any kind of buildup on the skin and for refining skin texture, improving skin tone, minimizing signs of aging, etc.
I know that someone had mentioned on their survey that they had some dry, flaky patches. Adding some type of gentle exfoliation to your routine could be helpful.
Customer: Why wouldn't it dry it out or irritate it more?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: It shouldn't. As long as you are using an exfoliant that is fairly gentle and not over-exfoliating. I mean, of course, if you try it and it feels like it is irritating or uncomfortable then don’t continue. You could start out by mixing just a bit of the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub into your Aloe Herb Cleanser a couple of times a week and see how that goes.
Okay, so those are exfoliants and exfoliation. I do want to touch on our eye cream really quickly because the under eye area and puffiness under the eyes was another concern that was mentioned on this group’s surveys.
We have two eye products. The Anti-Aging Eye Cream and the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum. Both are excellent, but I tend to always recommend if you're going to choose one or the other, I like the eye cream. I feel like it's very nourishing and a little more all-encompassing. My eye area always feels really kind of dry and irritated and the eye cream feels more nourishing, more moisturizing to me than the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum because the eye serum is just that, it's a serum. It’s that thinner consistency, that smaller molecule that is working to add hydration.
The Anti-Aging Eye Cream is also great for puffiness. It's got the cucumber distillate in it. So that can be really helpful for the puffy under eye area. And then this one also has CoQ10, it's got Damas Rose plant cells, squalane. I'm trying to think what else this one has in it. But it's just a great all-around, overarching product that's going to address multiple concerns, but the puffiness is definitely one of them.
Customer: Is it to be applied all around the eye or just underneath?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You can use it all around. So we recommend focusing just on the orbital bone and you can go all around. I tend to sometimes put it on my lid too because I feel like it's getting pretty droopy right there. So I kind of break the rules, but the recommendation is around the orbital bone.
Another thing you could try for the under-eye puffiness that could be helpful. I don't know if you'd want to do this or not, but Gua Sha can be helpful. I actually don't have my Gua Sha tool here with me, but we sell two different Gua Sha tools.
I feel like sometimes Gua Sha can be a little bit intimidating for people. There are tons of videos out there and tutorials that you could check out. Another option that I think is a little bit simpler, but kind of along the same line we don't sell it anymore, I don't know why, but we used to sell a Jade roller. It's kind of a similar idea, a jade roller. Some of them have a larger roller on one end and a smaller roller on the other. And so you could use that smaller roller and just roll outwards under the eye area.
So that could be another option to look into.
Customer: My daughter-in-law actually gave me one of those gua sha stones, so I should just start to use it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Absolutely. I mean, they feel lovely if nothing else.
Customer: Oh, yeah. I don't even know how to use it. And I just rub it on my skin because it feels good.
Customer: So I don't know if this is good or bad, but I use a buff puff. What do you think of that?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. You use it when you cleanse?
Customer: Yes. It’s just kind of like a sponge, but a little bit rough.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. You just want to make sure you're not using anything that's going to cause little like micro tears in the skin. You don’t want anything too harsh that might irritate your skin.
I would say the better option, to get that “deep clean” feeling that you probably get by using that would be to try incorporating some type of physical exfoliant into your cleanser. Like shake a bit of the Ayurvedic Scrub into your Aloe Herb Cleanser or add a dollop of the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant to it. Or even just use a warm washcloth when you cleanse to remove your cleanser.
Customer: Do you guys have an SPF product?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes. We do have our Sun Love Everyday Sheer Sunscreen, which is an SPF20. It's a broad-spectrum SPF, so protecting against both UVA and UVB. It's reef-safe. It's a non-nano zinc oxide. So it's a physical sunblock.
And that one you can use it on its own. So you could use that as your daytime moisturizer, instead of using a facial oil or use it over top of a facial oil. That's really just personal preference. It is pretty nourishing. It's got buriti fruit oil, it's got pumpkin seed oil.
Customer: OK, perfect. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Of course. Ok, do you guys have any other questions that I can answer before we wrap up our call?
Customer: Well, this was very helpful. I was a little hesitant. I thought, Oh dear, what's this going to be like?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh good. I’m so glad that it was helpful for you. Thank you guys so much for joining. I hope that you have a great afternoon.
