Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So that is a little bit about us, how we got started and what sets us apart. From there we can jump into products, routines, etc.
We pretty much recommend a basic four step routine for everybody. So the basic routine that we recommend is cleansing, toning, using a serum and then a moisturizer. As of now, all of our facial moisturizers are oils. We recommend that you do that routine morning and evening.
I always tell people that it's best to just kind of customize your routine, really find what works best for your skin, find what works best for your lifestyle. Maybe you are somebody who currently has no routine. So you're probably not going to jump into a six step routine that takes you 30 minutes morning and evening and be really consistent with it and that's totally fine. I would say the most basic, the most pared down routine that you would want to have would be at least a cleanser and a facial oil. So you could always start there and kind of build on that. So whether your routine has two steps in it, or if it has 10 steps in it, you're going to start with cleansing. So we'll talk about cleansers and cleansing first.
Cleansing is just the process of removing makeup and impurities from the skin. A thorough cleanse is going to ensure that your other products are able to be absorbed properly so that they can work effectively. I feel like cleansing is a step that often gets rushed through. I like to encourage people to really take their time with their cleanse, thoroughly cleansing, really massaging your cleanser into the skin before rinsing. We have four different cleansers in the line : the Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Citrus Mint Cleanser, the Phytonutrient Cleanser, and the Restorative Cleansing Oil.
So we will start with the Aloe Herb Cleanser. This is our most popular cleanser. People love this one. If you have ever gotten one of our starter kits or our trial sets, you've probably tried this cleanser. This one is great for all skin types. So I like to tell people if you're feeling overwhelmed, if you're not really sure where to start, this one can be a great option. It's a pH balanced cleanser. So all of our cleansers actually are pH balanced. It is important to choose a pH balanced cleanser, because that's just going to ensure that you're not stripping your skin. You're not drying out your skin. You're not disrupting your skin's natural protective barrier, your acid mantle. Your skin's pH is about a 4. 5 to a 5. 5. on the pH scale. And all of our cleansers are a 5.5 to a 5.6, which is actually printed on our packaging as well. But this one is pH balanced. It's of course an aloe vera base. So aloe is rich in vitamins and minerals. It's rich in phytonutrients and enzymes that nourish skin. This one also has some lemon essential oil in it. So that's going to be purifying and brightening. It's got some calendula. So really soothing and calming to help minimize the appearance of any temporary redness in the skin. Trying to think what else this one has in there…some coconut oil. So that contributes to its creamy texture. This one is a cream cleanser. And then the other one in our Signature Collection is our Citrus Mint Cleanser. So this one is our purifying gel cleanser. So again, it's that aloe vera base, but then it contains a more purifying herb blend. And it's the gel consistency versus the cream. This one's got some neem in it, a witch hazel distillate. So just that more purifying herb blend. And it feels very cool and refreshing on the skin. So these are the two in the Signature Collection. We do have a couple of different collections within the line. The Aloe Herb Cleanser and the Citrus Mint are in the signature. So the Signature Collection is all of these products that have the tan labeling. These products, a lot of them, are our best selling products. A lot of them have been around since we first got started. And then the other collection that we have, the other main collection, I should say is the Wild Alchemy Collection. And that's all the products that have the black and gold labeling.
So this collection is our luxury line and what makes it our luxury line is just that the products in this collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients—so things like apple extract, things like our bioactive A complex, our pure vitamin C, our THDA and then they also contain higher levels of more exotic ingredients. So things like mongongo oil and baobab oil. So that's kind of what sets that line apart. But the two in this collection are the Phytonutrient Cleanser and the Restorative Cleansing Oil. So the Phytonutrient Cleanser, this one I would say is our most activated cleanser. It's our most rich cleanser. It's a cream cleanser. It's good for all skin types, except for very sensitive, I would say. So it's a cream cleanser similar to the Aloe Herb Cleanser, though it's a little bit thicker, richer. texture, almost almost a fattier texture. This one has got apple extract in it. So that apple extract is going to be great for brightening the look of skin. It's rich in vitamin C and malic acid. This one has some acai in it. So giving it that antioxidant component. It contains our Signature Serum Blend. This one has some coconut oil as well. But then it's got mango seed butter too. So that's kind of what gives it that fatty, rich texture. So that's the Phytonutrient. And then the other one in the Wild Alchemy Collection is the Restorative Cleansing Oil. This one is good for all skin types. So for dry and mature skin it feels very nourishing because it is an oil. But even for congestion prone skin, it can be good for that as well because like attracts like, so it's actually going to help to kind of soften up and break down excess oil and congestion in the skin. This one is a golden jojoba oil base. So jojoba very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. This one has also got some castor oil in there. It's got manuka oil. I'm manuka obsessed. I'm also jojoba obsessed. So that's why I love this one so much. But the Manuka is really deep cleansing and calming. This one also has some tea tree oil in it, so that's going to be purifying. And this one you use a little bit differently. So all of the other cleansers you're going to dampen your skin, massage your cleanser into the skin and then rinse clean and pat dry. This one, you actually want to apply to dry skin. So dry hands, dry face, massage it in, really focus on any areas of congestion or concern. And then you can just rinse it clean and that can be it. A lot of people like to remove this one with a warm washcloth or a warm towel. So you can do that. You can also choose to use this as a first step in a double cleanse routine. And so if you were going to do that, you would just massage it into the skin, rinse, and then you would follow with whatever cleanser you like as your second cleanser. So Phytonutrient, Aloe Herb, whatever you want. But those are the four cleansers. So any questions about cleansers or cleansing?
Customer: Can you keep that one on overnight? Or do you suggest rinsing it before going to bed?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I would probably rinse it just because it's a cleanser. The purpose of cleansing is removing impurities, debris, etc. So you probably would want to rinse it just to remove all of that. It does leave a bit of an oil on the skin, even after you rinse it, especially if you're just using it on its own. And especially if you're just rinsing and not removing it with a towel or cloth you are still going to feel that little bit of oil on your skin. So it still feels really nourishing, even if you're not leaving it on.
Customer: Okay. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Great question. Any other questions about cleansers? Or anything.
Okay, cool. All right. Well, the next step in your routine after cleansing would be toning. So we have three different toning mists in the line. And toning just helps to kind of rebalance the skin after cleansing. It offers a dose of hydration and skin supporting nutrients. None of our cleansers are stripping or drying to the skin at all.
The way that some like traditional toners can be. So the three that we have are the Neroli Toning Mist, the Rosemary Toning Mist, and the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. The Neroli Toning Mist, we'll start with this one. This one's in the Signature Collection. This is our most popular toning mist. People love this one, I think partly because it smells so nice. The neroli is derived from fresh orange blossoms, so it has a really lovely scent to it. It's a really simple formula. It's an aloe vera juice base, and then it's got the neroli. It's got some Aspen bark extract in there, which acts as a natural preservative and it's also a natural source of salicins.
And then the Rosemary Toning Mist, this is going to be more of a purifying mist more for normal, combination or oily skin types. And again, it's a simple formula, it's the aloe vera juice base, it's got the rosemary in it, which is purifying. And then it's got some white willow bark in it too, which is another natural source of salicins.
And then lastly, you've got the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. And this is the one in our Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is a larger size, just a side note. This one is good for all skin types. This one is especially good for sensitive skin types. This one has a blend of four different types of chamomile in it. So it's very soothing. It's also got some rose in there. This one has the immortelle or the life everlasting flowers, which are a potent antioxidant. This one has frankincense, so known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin. This one, the scent profile is definitely more herbal. Whereas, like I said, the neroli is kind of that sweeter smell from the orange blossom.
And this one obviously smells like rosemary.
And then what else with the botanical? It's a hydrosol base, so the others are that aloe vera juice base. The hydrosol is this kind of watery runoff that you get when you create an essential oil through a steam distillation. So it gives it this really nice, kind of soft feel and makes it maybe just a little bit more hydrating than the others. This is definitely a team favorite. I would say everybody on the team loves this one. Although I like the Rosemary Mist. I'm kind of an outcast with my Rosemary Mist. But Grace loves this one. Grace is our sensitive skin poster child here at Annmarie Skin Care. And this is one of her “holy grail” products, she says. So that's a great option. Any questions about the toning mists? The way that you use them, after you cleanse, you rinse your cleanser, pat your skin dry, and then you can just mist over your face and neck. You can mist throughout the day, even if you're wearing makeup or something, you can mist over makeup. If you just want that extra boost of hydration or like, say you're somebody who's more oily or congestion prone, you could mist the rosemary throughout the day. It has just a little bit of a mattifying effect.
What else with the toning mist? I believe on all of our packaging it says to mist, let it dry, and then apply your serum and your facial oil. I actually don't love that recommendation. I would mist your toning mist, and then while your skin is still slightly damp from the toning mist, then you would apply your serum and your facial oil. And that's just going to help with absorption. So that it doesn't ever feel like your products are just kind of sitting on your skin. It feels like they're being absorbed really nicely into the skin. So questions about toning mists at all? I feel like toners are kind of straightforward.
Okay, cool. So the next step in your routine would be your serum. And we have several different serums in the line. Serums are where things can start to get a little bit confusing, but like I said, hopefully we can make it feel not so confusing for you guys. Okay. So in the Signature Collection, we have the Anti-Aging Serum, the Probiotic Serum With Tremella and the Citrus Stem Cell Serum which I actually don't have the citrus here, but those are the three in the Signature Collection.
So serums in general are excellent hydrators. There is the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water and then dry skin, which is skin that's lacking oil. So most people have a combination of both. They have a little bit of dehydration, a little bit of dryness. And so that's kind of why we recommend using both hydrating products and moisturizing products together. So your hydrators are going to be your toner and your serum, and then your moisturizer is going to be your facial oil.
So let's see the the Anti-Aging Serum is the one that we'll start with. Also, in general, serums are usually really concentrated. So they contain higher levels of activated ingredients. So they allow you to really kind of customize your skin care routine to target and treat whatever your specific concerns are. And then also they're made up of a smaller molecule. So they're a smaller molecule than say a facial oil. So they penetrate more deeply into the skin. So they're able to get those activated ingredients deeper into the skin.
Okay, so anyways, the Anti-Aging Serum. This one is our most popular serum. This is one of our best selling products. People love this one. Again, if you've tried one of our starter sets, you've probably tried it. This one, I kind of say, is similar to the Aloe Herb Cleanser in that if you are confused, if you're overwhelmed, if you're not sure where to start, this can be a good choice because it's great for all skin types. This one is very hydrating. It's very antioxidant rich. So I like to refer to it as just a daily dose of overall skin nutrition. So it's got buddleia extract in it. It's got life everlasting flowers. There's some rose in there. So soothing as well. And then it's got hyaluronic acid. We use a non GMO vegetable sourced hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic is a humectant that binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular holds 1,000 times its weight in water. So it's considered a super hydrator. So it's really deeply hydrating the skin. So deeply hydrating the skin like that is going to help to have kind of a plumping effect. Whereas if your skin is dehydrated, it's going to kind of emphasize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. So that's the Anti-Aging Serum.
The Probiotic Serum With Tremella—this one, it's good for all skin types as well, but especially for sensitive skin types or skin that's kind of out of balance. This one, it's got the tremella mushroom extract in it. Tremella acts kind of similar to hyaluronic acid. So very deeply hydrating the skin. This one has olive leaf extract in it. It's got that probiotic ferment. So the probiotic ferment is going to help to kind of rebalance the skin's pH and eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin. This one has astaxanthin in it as well which is a really powerful antioxidant that you'll find in a lot of our products. And this one, the scent profile is definitely more earthy. The AntiAging Serum is more floral smelling. I feel like you smell the vetiver a lot in the Anti-Aging Serum.
The probiotic is more earthy. It has that tremella in there, so if you don’t love mushrooms it might not be the one for you. I personally like the way it smells but some people say it smells like dirt, so just a heads up. And then lastly in that collection is the Citrus Stem Cell. So Citrus Stem Cell Serum, also is good for all skin types, but especially for people that are focused on brightening, on minimizing the appearance of discoloration. It's great for targeted brightening. So if you have just a couple of dark spots you're kind of working on it can be really good for that. And there's kind of two components to the Citrus Stem Cell Serum. There are the plant derived stem cells, the citrus derived stem cells in this one. So we use plant derived stem cells in a lot of our products. You'll find stem cells in a lot of skin care products. Sometimes they can be derived from animals or even from humans. We always use plant derived stem cells in our products. And these stem cells are going to provide proteins and peptides and amino acids and things that are going to really help to strengthen the skin.
So you've got that in the Citrus Stem Cell Serum, and then you've got the brightening component as well. So that brightening trio that's in the serum, it's the amla berry. And then it's the licorice root and the uva ursi. So amla berry is very rich in vitamin C. Licorice root is brightening. It's used a lot of times in natural products as an alternative to using hydroquinone, which is a pretty nasty ingredient. And then the uva ursi as well. So that's kind of the brightening trio that's in that Citrus Stem Cell Serum. And that one, of course, scent profile is more citrusy. So those are the three serums in the Signature Collection.
So any questions about those three? Or just serums in general?
Customer: Can you use more than one serum on your face at the same time?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, you can. So we actually don't really recommend mixing the serums. But you can alternate. So you could use the Anti-Aging Serum in the evening and Citrus Stem Cell serum in the morning, or you could use Citrus Stem Cell on Monday and Anti-Aging on Tuesday, that kind of thing. That is a great question. Because we have so many that a lot of times people do want to use more than one.
Good question. Any other questions?
Okay. So those are signature serums. Then in our Wild Alchemy Collection we have the Wild Fruit Serum. I just have this little travel sized one, which is funny because I actually really love this serum. But this one, I like to refer to this as our “do it all” serum. It's hydrating, it's brightening, it's anti-aging and the scent profile on this one is, of course, is more fruity. Like I said, this is definitely one of my favorites. This is definitely a favorite amongst the team as well. I would say this one is great for all skin types.
It's got copper infused water in it. It's got apple extract. So it's that same apple extract that's in the Phytonutrient Cleanser. So it brightens the look of skin with malic acid and vitamin C. This one has knotweed extract, which is really rich in resveratrol. It's got kakadu plum extract in it. So kakadu plum is another really potent source of vitamin C. Kakadu plum also contains phenolic acid. So phenolic acid acts on the skin kind of similar to an alpha hydroxy acid and alpha hydroxy acids help to dissolve the “glue” that holds the top layer of skin cells. So they have an exfoliating effect, which is going to help improve texture and tone. This one also has Madonna lily plant cells. So we already talked about plant cells. This one has Madonna lily cells. It has a really dense infusion of those plant cells. There's about 1. 5 million in each bottle of the Wild Fruit Serum, not this bottle, the full size bottle. And trying to think if I'm forgetting anything else with this one. It's great for all skin types. Like I said, it's a very all encompassing serum focusing on a lot of different concerns. So that's a great one.
And then the other one is the Activated CBD Serum. Sometimes I don't talk about this one, sometimes I do. I kind of read the room because I try not to overwhelm you guys because I know it's so many products. This one is an excellent choice if you are very sensitive. Grace, like I said, is our sensitive skin girl and this is her other “holy grail” product. So if you are very sensitive, this is a great option. Do you guys want me to talk about this one some more? Yes?
Okay, cool. So this one is in the Wild Alchemy Collection, but it's sold in its own little “boutique” on our site, just because of the legality of selling a CBD product. When we created this product, we partnered with Ojai Energetics to source our CBD because we of course wanted to source the best. And Ojai, they are really a leader and a pioneer in the CBD space. It's a little bit hard to say exactly what CBD does for the skin because it really works with your body's natural endocannabinoid system to kind of go where it's needed to go and do what it's needed to do. But like I said, it's excellent for sensitive skin—for lessening the look of temporary redness, calming irritation and anything like that. It's also very hydrating. So it's got both Tremella mushroom extract and hyaluronic acid in it. So very deeply hydrating this one. It is like a little bit thicker, kind of richer, creamier texture than some of our other serums. Like our other ones have that more kind of aqueous texture. And then, I'm trying to think…this one also has the astaxanthin in it. It's got superoxide dismutase, so a lot of really powerful antioxidants. It's got mangosteen oil in it. It's got black cumin seed oil. So that's the CBD serum. And this one, I never really know how to describe how it smells, but it smells really lovely—just sort of like clean smelling.
And then the other serum in the Wild Alchemy Collection is the Activated Night Serum. And this one is our most recent serum launch. We just came out with it not too long ago. And this one is fantastic. So it has our bioactive A-Complex in it. Our bioactive A-Complex is our alternative to/our version of a retinol. So vitamin A derivatives and retinols, retinoids, etc they're kind of like the gold standard in anti-aging. But they're not great for your health. They can be harmful to reproductive health. Even for skin health, if you're using it over an extended period of time they can start to thin the skin, which really isn't what we want. We want to support our skin's natural barrier. We want to have really healthy, resilient skin as we age. We don't want to be thinning the skin. So that is why we created this product. We wanted to have something that was going to have a similar effect on the skin as a retinol, without any of the negative side effects. Retinoids also can be really irritating to the skin. A lot of times people with sensitive skin aren't able to use them. This one, even Grace is able to use this. I know she doesn't use it every night, but every other night or a couple nights a week. The bioactive A-Complex is actually derived from algae, so it's a completely safe ingredient. It's a Made Safe approved ingredient. It, like I said, has a similar effect as retinol. So helping with cell turnover and having that kind of resurfacing, renewing effect on the skin. This will help to improve texture, improve tone. So great if you're focused on signs of aging. Great if you're focused on brightening the look of skin. It even can be helpful for more congestion prone skin as well. And this one, it also is kind of that richer, thicker texture. So it's very hydrating. It’s also paired with a lot of really soothing and calming ingredients. It's got lavender and blue chamomile in there along with that bioactive A, so it's kind of a nice balance of the activated ingredients with those soothing, calming ingredients as well.
And what else with this one? So you only want to use this at nighttime. You would not use this during the day. You would alternate. So you would use maybe the Wild Fruit Serum in the morning and Activated Night Serum at night or the Anti-Aging Serum in the morning and this one at night. And you do want to make sure that you are using an SPF with this one as well because it can make you more sensitive to the sun. I think that's it with that one. I'm trying to think if I'm forgetting anything. But that's the Activated Night Serum.
Okay. So we'll stop there with serums and then maybe we'll talk about elixirs too really quickly. But any questions about any of those serums that we've covered or serums in general?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: No?
Customer: What's the benefit of antioxidants?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So antioxidants (like vitamin C & vitamin E) are going to help to protect from free radical damage or oxidative stress, which leads to signs of aging. And that can come from environmental stressors and all kinds of different things—smoke exposure, sun exposure, pollutants, etc. All of our products contain high levels of antioxidants.
Customer: Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. Of course. We have so much information on our blog as well. I know we have some blog posts that talk about antioxidants if you are wanting to know more.
Was there another question?
Customer: Yes. So with the Activated Night Serum, you said use an SPF product with it, even though you're putting it on at night?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So you just want to use your SPF during the day. Because this serum is having that resurfacing, renewing effect its important to protect your skin. You can be a little bit more sensitive to the sun when using it.
Okay. So we'll go ahead and touch on elixirs really quickly. These kind of fall into the serum category. These are the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs. People often ask if they need the elixirs. You really don't need the elixirs. They're just kind of like a fun, extra product. They're a pretty unique product. I feel like I have worked with a lot of different skin care lines and I don't feel like I've come across any that have a similar product. So they come in this set of three. And the set comes with the Hydrate, the Brighten, and the Revitalize elixirs. The way that you use these, you never want to apply them directly to your skin. They are very concentrated, so they are always to be mixed. We recommend mixing them with your serum. If for some reason you wanted to use them and you were not using a serum, you could also mix with your facial oil. I think the reason we recommend mixing with a serum is because the serum is that smaller molecule. It's sitting closest to the skin. It penetrates more deeply. So just getting those activated ingredients deeper into the skin. And so you would just pump your serum or your oil into the palm of your hand. And then these elixirs come with this little dropper top. And so you would just drop one to three drops of the elixir in with your serum or your oil and mix it up and apply. They're pretty liquidy, a thinner consistency. And these allow you to just boost the level of activated ingredients in your routine, and they allow you to kind of further customize your routine. So, in general, I feel like more activated ingredients means more visible results more quickly. So the Hydrate, this one is a hyaluronic acid with vegan collagen prepeptides. So we already talked about hyaluronic acid, very deeply hydrating the skin, plumping the skin. Those peptides are going to be strengthening. And then the Brighten Elixir. This one is a pure vitamin C with seabuckthorn. So great for brightening the look of skin, brightening the look of dark spots. the look of pigmentation. In this one, the vitamin C that we use, is a THDA (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate). And the reason that we've chosen that particular form of vitamin C is because a lot of times with vitamin C products the vitamin C that is used is not stable. So then you open the product and it goes rancid really quickly and then it's not effective. So we've chosen this particular form of vitamin C because it's a very stable form of vitamin C. It's also a very non-irritating form of vitamin C. It's a pH of seven which is the same as water. So even more sensitive skin types are able to use this one. So that's the Brighten.
And then the Revitalize, this is the bioactive A-Complex with astaxanthin. So it's the exact same activated ingredient that's in the Activated Night Serum. It's that retinol alternative and then paired with astaxanthin, which is that really powerful antioxidant that we talked about. And this one, again, you want to use this only in the evening and you want to use it with an SPF during the day. But those are the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs. So again, just kind of a fun extra option if you wanted to add to your routine.
Okay, what else? So then facial oils.
Maybe I'll talk about Sun Love really quickly since we just talked about a few products that require SPF.
So we do have our Sun Love Everyday Sheer Sunscreen. It’s good for all skin types. It’s an SPF 20. It's a non- nano zinc oxide. It is reef safe. It's a broad spectrum, so both UVA and UVB protection. That one, you can use it just on its own as your daytime moisturizer. It's got pumpkin seed oil and buriti fruit oil in it, so it feels really nourishing even just on its own. Or if you wanted to, you could use it over top of your facial oil. That's just a personal preference. But that's the Sun Love.
And then our other facial moisturizers would be our facial oils. So again, we have several different facial oils in the line. As of now, all of our facial moisturizers are oils. We've chosen oils because oils are more pure. They don't require any fillers or waxes to be used. They also are easily absorbed by the skin. Your skin's natural form of moisture is oil, so they're easily absorbed. And it can take a little bit of getting used to if you're used to using more of like a cream or a lotion, but I personally love oils.
In the Signature Collection, we have our herbal facial oils. So we'll start with these. There's three of them. There's the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin, the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin, and the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. All three of the herbal facial oils are a grapeseed oil base. Grapeseed is a light textured, skin balancing oil. It's quickly absorbed. The Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin—this is a balancing facial oil. It's got some echinacea in there. There's some goji in there. And then that grapeseed oil base.
Really all of these facial oils just contain an herb blend that's tailored to the skin type it's made for. So the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin, this one has the neem, which is really detoxifying and rich in vitamin E. It's got the black cumin seed oil, which can be helpful for things like congestion or clogged pores. And then the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. That one has no added essential oils. So it's a good option for sensitive skin types. It's got a bunch of omega rich oils in it. It's got camellia seed oil. It's got sacha inchi oil. That one has some squalane in it as well. But those are the herbal facial oils.
And then the Anti-Aging Facial Oil, this is the other one in the Signature Collection. And this one is very popular. Again, one of our best selling products. People love this one. And this is a very nourishing, restorative facial moisture for dry and mature skin types. This one is the jojoba oil base. So very moisturizing. Again, jojoba really closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. And then this one has a bunch of different seed oils in it. So there's carrot seed oil, there's broccoli seed oil, there's chia seed oil. Chia for example is rich in vitamin B and zinc. And there's just a really dense herb infusion in this one but this one is very popular.
And then in the Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. So this one would be kind of our most complex facial oil, our most like, luxury facial oil. Of course, being in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one's good for pretty much all skin types except for very sensitive skin. This is our most potent facial oil, our most active facial oil. And kind of the reason for that is the way that it's made. So with our other facial oils, like I was saying, there's like a dense infusion of herbs in the herb infusion. Whereas the Rejuvenating has just one herb—the butterfly pea flower. And then there's also fewer of the seed oils and the CO2 extracts. And the reason for that, the reason that we included fewer was so that we were able to include them at higher concentrations at higher percentages. So it makes it a little bit more active, a little bit more potent. And this one, like I said, it's got the butterfly pea flower in it. It's got some blue tansy in there. It's got baobab oil in it, which is brightening. It's got marula oil, which is very rich in antioxidants. It's got mongongo oil, which is really softening. This one makes your skin feel very soft. I love this one. One of my favorites. But that's the Rejuvenating. And that's it for the facial oils. Any questions about facial oils, facial moisturizers? The way that you would use them in your routine is you would cleanse, pat dry, mist your toning mist, then apply your serum, and then apply your facial oil over that.
Customer: I get up early and go out into the garden and I do want to use the sunscreen, but I also know that when I come back in from the garden I'm all sweaty and I want to take a shower and wash my face. So how do I combine these things?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That's a good question. If you did not want to do your skin care routine until after you did the gardening you could just wear a hat that fully covered your face while you garden. Or just apply the Sun Love, then wash it off when you shower and do your full routine and then reapply it if you know that you are going to be back out.
Any other questions?
Okay. Well, that kind of covers your basic routine. That would be your basic four step routine. So we can stop there and we can take more questions if you guys have more questions or we can jump into more products.
We have our eye products. We have masks, exfoliants, all of that good stuff.
I figured maybe we could talk about exfoliants really quickly so that way we can talk about our new Radiant C Mask & Polish.
So exfoliation is important in any skin care routine. Exfoliation is going to just remove buildup and debris. It's going to refine the skin's texture. It's going to help with refining the look of enlarged pores and preventing congestion.
We have a few different exfoliants in the line. We have the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant. These are the two in the Signature Collection, and then in the Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant, and then the just launched Radiant C Mask & Polish.
So the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, this one is very, very gentle. It's great for all skin types, including very sensitive skin. It's a dry powdered herbal exfoliant. Fenugreek is the exfoliating property in this one. It's what gives it its little bit of grit. This one is purely a physical exfoliant. So these two are physical exfoliants. They have that scrubby gritty texture that is physically polishing the skin. Like I said, this is a dry powder, so you can just shake it into the palm of your hand. You can mix a bit of water, mix it up into a paste, massage it in, and then rinse. You can use this after you cleanse, or you can just mix it right in with your cleanser, which is what I like to do. It mixes really nicely with the cream cleansers, with the Aloe Herb or the Phytonutrient. And this one is so gentle that most people could use it daily if they wanted to or you could just use it a few times a week.
That's the one thing with exfoliation. It's a little bit of a fine line because you don't want to overdo it. You don't want to cause any irritation or inflammation in the skin, but it's nice to incorporate some type of exfoliation. Sometimes people say that they are using a lot of really hydrating and moisturizing products but their skin still feels dry, so that could be due to not exfoliating. If you don’t incorporate any type of exfoliation into your routine you can kind of end up with this layer of buildup that does not allow your treatment products to be absorbed properly.
The other exfoliant in our Signature Collection is the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant. This one is very popular as well. It's definitely a favorite amongst the team and customers. This one again is a physical exfoliant. This is a cream facial scrub. So I feel like this is kind of what comes to mind when you think of your typical exfoliating scrub. It's the kaolin clay base, so very mineral rich, very purifying. It's got lavender in it, which of course is soothing and calming and it has the lavender scent profile. And then this one has crushed bamboo powder in it. That's the exfoliating property in this one. So I would say it's still fairly gentle. Pretty much any skin type can use this, even sensitive skin. If you are sensitive sometimes it is nice to mix it with a cleanser to make it a bit more gentle. It mixes really nicely with the Aloe Herb Cleanser, because then you get that lemon-lavender scent, which is lovely. This one, most people would use this like two or three times a week. This is a great one to just keep in your shower and use in the shower. I really love this one. I feel like part of it is just because, like I said, you can keep it in the shower so it makes it really easy to incorporate into your routine. So that's the Kaolin and then in the Wild Alchemy Collection, first we have the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant.
So this one is a little bit different. It's a chemical exfoliant. So chemical in the way that it's working on the skin, not that it contains a bunch of chemicals. This one has a honey derived lactic acid. That is the exfoliating component in this one. And so lactic acid is a really gentle alpha hydroxy acid. And like we talked about, alpha hydroxy acids are kind of dissolving that glue that holds the top layer of skin. So having that exfoliating effect on the skin. This one can be really great for brightening the look of skin. If dark spots are a concern of yours This one's also got blue tansy and cucumber in it. So again, kind of similar to the Activated Night Serum it's that really nice balance of activated ingredients with calming, soothing ingredients. This one for most people, you would only use it once a week. And when you use this, you want to use it in the evening. You also want to use it with an SPF during the day. And you would apply it to clean skin. So after you cleanse, you would apply this, you kind of use it more like a mask. You apply it. It's a smooth gel texture and you just leave it on for two or three minutes to start, not very long. And just kind of see how your skin does with it. I would not say that I have sensitive skin and it does feel pretty tingly and active to me. Other people on these calls have said that they don’t feel anything when using it, so it kind of just depends on your skin, but we say start with two or three minutes and then you can work your way up to leaving it on for 10 minutes if you would like.
So that's the Resurfacing Exfoliant and just, you know, making sure that you really thoroughly remove that one is important.
And then lastly, but certainly not least, is our new Radiant C Mask & Polish. This one, similar to the Ayurvedic Scrub, is a dry powder. This one's really versatile. You can use it as a mask. You can use it as an exfoliant. You can use it as both. You can mix it with a bunch of different stuff. I love a multitasking product! And this one is both a physical and a chemical exfoliant, which I also love. It has the crushed bamboo in it. So that's the physical exfoliating property. So same as the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant, but then it's also got the fruit acids. So this one has hibiscus in here. It's got acerola cherry. It's got some lemon. Gogi berry, strawberry. So all of these different fruits that are really brightening to the skin.
This one, like I said, it's a dry powder. So you can just shake it into the palm of your hand, mix it with water, massage it and rinse. If you're just kind of wanting to use it as an exfoliant you can also again, mix it with your cleanser. You can just mix it with water, apply it and leave it on as a treatment mask. You can leave it on for 10-15 minutes. And then you also can mix it with other things if you want to. If you're using it as a treatment mask its really nice to mix it with honey or even yogurt. It mixes beautifully with our Illuminating Pearl Mask. It's really going to leave the skin looking very radiant. This one smells fantastic from all of the fruits that are in there. So that is the Radiant C.
Questions about that one or any of the exfoliants or just exfoliation in general?
Okay. So that covers exfoliants. Do you guys have other questions or do you want me to cover other treatment masks or eye creams or anything like that? Anything specific?
Customer: I have a question on those three little, the trio, the elixirs. Can you combine them?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, you can. Sorry. I should have said that earlier. So these ones you can kind of mix and match. If you wanted to, you could mix one drop of hydrate and two drops of brighten in the morning or in the evening use one drop of revitalize and two drops of hydrate. You can kind of mix and match however you want to. The only limitations are that you want to use the Revitalize only at night. And we don't recommend mixing the brighten and the revitalize together in the same application.
Does that make sense?
Customer: Yes. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Awesome. You're welcome. Good question. Any other questions?
Customer: I have a question with the Ayurvedic one. So you mix that with water, right? I feel like when I try to mix it it gets kind of lumpy. It’s not a smooth consistency.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Hmmm, I havent really had that issue myself. But you could play around with adding more water so the consistency is a bit thinner or you could also mix it right in with your cleanser.
Customer: Okay, and I probably missed, how long do you keep that on the face when you're doing exfoliation?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: This one you don't need to leave it on necessarily. You can just mix it and then apply it. I would massage it into the skin, you know, take your time massaging it in as you exfoliate and then rinse. So just a couple minutes. If you want to leave it on for like five minutes or so, you absolutely could. Use it as kind of a mini-mask treatment and just kind of let it sit on the skin before you rinse.
Customer: Okay, thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, of course. Good questions. Any other questions?
Customer: Will you tell me specifically what to use for sagging skin?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, so for sagging skin and anti-aging, there are several different options that could be beneficial.
I would say that you could choose either the Aloe Herb Cleanser or the Phytonutrient. This would be kind of like your step up, you know? And then you could do the Neroli Toning Mist or the Botanical Hydration Mist, either of those. For your serum, I personally would recommend doing the Wild Fruit Serum in the morning and the Activated Night Serum at night. If you wanted to, you could do the Anti-Aging Serum in the morning and the Activated at night. I just love the Wild Fruit Serum. And then for your facial oil, you could do the Anti-Aging Facial Oil or the Rejuvenating Facial Oil in the Wild Alchemy Collection, that would kind of be your step up there. And then if you wanted to incorporate some type of exfoliation the new Radiant C would be an excellent option. You also could do the Kaolin if you wanted. Like I said, this is a popular one and it's pretty easy to incorporate. So that could be another option as well. And that would be a pretty full routine.
We didn't talk about eye products. We do have two eye products, the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum and the Anti-Aging Eye Cream. Both of them are excellent. I tend to recommend that if people are going to choose just one or the other, I personally tend to lean towards the eye cream. For me, that's just my preference. I feel like my eye area is always very dry and this one feels very nourishing to me.
The Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, this one is more of a true serum consistency, so it's a little bit thinner. And you can use them together. So for some people, if their under eye area is their main concern, in that case you might want to use them together. You can layer them. So you can layer the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum and then put the Anti-Aging Eye Cream on top. Or you can alternate them and use the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum in the morning and the Anti-Aging Eye Cream at night.
With the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, I always tell people you really do not need much at all. It's very concentrated. And you only need a little bit. If you overuse this one, it just doesn't apply nicely. And this one, it's got pineapple ceramides. It's got sake peptides. And then the Anti-Aging Eye Cream is really cooling with the cucumber. Cucumber is very silica rich as well. And then it's got the damas rose plant cells in there.
So they're both excellent, but like I said, I tend to lean towards the eye cream if you're going to just choose one or the other. But those are the eye products.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Ok, great. Any other questions? Do you guys want me to cover the other masks really quickly? I mean, I feel like we've covered a lot of things.
Customer: I have a question. I heard your recommendations for a routine for sagging skin, but what about brown spots? I'm starting to get a lot of them on my face and I'm wondering do I follow that same regime? Will that make a difference or do I need to use something else also?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So let's see. Let me look at what all I recommended. That would be an excellent routine for the dark spots as well. The Phytonutrient Cleanser, this is going to be your best option if brightening is your main concern. Again, toning mist, same thing. You could do the Neroli or you could do the Botanical Hydration Mist. For your serum, I would do either the Wild Fruit Serum in the morning or the Citrus Stem Cell. And then at night I would do the Activated Night Serum. And then for your facial oil the same thing. I would do either the Anti-Aging Facial Oil or the Rejuvenating. The rejuvenating is going to have more of that brightening property from that baobab oil that's in there. But you could do either. If you wanted to incorporate the brighten elixir, the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs, you could mix this in with your Wild Fruit Serum or your Citrus Stem Cell Serum. And then exfoliant, I would probably lean more towards the new Radiant C or the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant if brightening is your main concern.
And of course you don't have to jump in and get all of those things all at once. You can kind of pick and choose and build up your routine.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Were there other questions?
Customer: Yes. So you covered sagging skin and dark spots. How about enlarged pores?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So there's kind of a few different things that can be helpful. I actually personally really love the Restorative Cleansing Oil. And I do think that can be helpful for enlarged pores. Like I was saying earlier in the call when you're using this, you apply to dry skin with dry hands and really just focus on massaging it into those areas of congestion, usually around the nose, down around the chin and mouth area, etc. So really focusing on that massage before rinsing the product can be helpful.
Incorporating some type of exfoliant can be very helpful. Really any of them. I mean, I do like the kaolin for enlarged pores because it has that purifying kaolin clay in there, but really any exfoliant is going to be helpful for preventing congestion and refining the look of enlarged pores.
And then I'm trying to think what else…if you wanted to incorporate a treatment mask, you could incorporate our Charcoal Cacao Mask or I really love our Purifying Mud Mask. If you're using this, it is a dry powdered mask. If you're just mixing it with water then I wouldn't say it's the greatest option for more dry skin types. But I like to mix it with honey, specifically Manuka honey and that can be a really great option because then you're getting those purifying benefits of the mud but you’ve also got the honey which is acting as a humectant to draw moisture to the skin, so it's not going to dry out your skin at all. You could choose to incorporate that once a week maybe. But even just incorporating the cleansing oil and an exfoliant could be helpful for sure.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Good questions. Any other questions?
Customer: Can we have a recording of this because there's too much information.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I don't know if I can send the recording. You can choose to attend another consultation if you want. Or if you check out our blog we have all of our skin consults on the blog, so you could review those if you wanted to.
Customer: Okay. What about body products? Do you have any products for hands or arms?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, we do have body products and we have body oils like our Coconut Body Oil and our Divine Woods Body Oil. I would probably recommend the Radiant Skin Silk Body Lotion. It's a great option for hands and arms. It's very nourishing. It's great for addressing the look of crepey skin.
Customer: To follow up with that question. Sometimes I run out of products. I am wondering if while I am waiting for a product to be delivered if I run out if I could use a body product on my face?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I probably would not recommend using something like the Palo Santo on your face. I know that some people have used the Radiant Skin Silk on their face. I personally have not tried that, but I feel like if you're going to use a body product as a facial moisturizer, that would probably be your best bet.
Customer: Okay. Thank you.
Customer: Do you make a safe deodorant?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You know we do not make one. We did have one in our Favorite Brands Marketplace, but I am not sure if it is still there. Let me peek really quick.
I am not seeing it. I could find out what it was and we can get back to you or you can just email customer care at [email protected] and they would be able to find out for you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Any other questions? I feel like I saw another hand.
Customer: I was wondering about hair products.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah we do have a few hair products. So we have our shampoo and conditioner, our Sweet Sunrise Shampoo and Conditioner.
They're really great for all hair types. They're very nourishing and strengthening. They've got horsetail and aloe and nettle. But they're not heavy. They don’t weigh down your hair at all, which is nice. They're color safe. They're not stripping or anything and then we do also have our Smoothing Hair Serum. This we came out with more recently and it's actually more of a balm almost than a serum. It's a solid form. It's pretty versatile. You can use it on damp hair. Some people on our team like to use it on dry hair. Usually when I use it, I'll just kind of use it on dry hair and like apply it just at the ends. Sometimes I'll use it just to smooth down my little flyaways too. It’s got muru muru butter in it, which is referred to as nature's silicone.
Those are all of our hair products. We also have the Palo Santo Hair and Body Mist which is like a perfume mist almost that can be used in the hair.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Good questions you guys. Any other questions? We have a couple minutes left.
