Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So from there, then we can jump into routines and specific skin concerns. Before we jump in, does anybody have any concerns or anything you want to make sure that is addressed during the call that I didn't already mention?
Sunspots. Okay. Puffiness around the eyes. Enlarged pores. Okay. Perfect. So let's start out with the basic routine. So the basic routine that we recommend for pretty much everybody is a four step routine that consists of using a cleanser, toner, a serum and a moisturizer or a facial oil. All of our facial moisturizers are oils.
And so this is the basic general routine that we recommend for everybody to do both morning and evening. I always like to tell people to really just find what works best for you, customize your routine to fit your skin, to fit your lifestyle. So maybe right now you have no skin care routine and that's fine.
So then maybe you're not going to jump into a routine that's six steps and takes you 30 minutes morning and evening. So in that case, maybe you want to start really simple, like the most basic routine that you would want to start with would be just a cleanser and a facial oil, and then you could always build from there, but that's kind of the most stripped down routine that you want to have.
So for your routine, whether you have 10 steps in your routine or you have two steps in your routine, you are going to start with cleansing. So we will start there. So cleansing is just going to remove makeup and impurities from the skin. A thorough cleanse is going to ensure that your treatment products that you apply after your cleanser are really being absorbed into the skin.
We have four different cleansers in our line. All of our cleansers are pH balanced, which is something that I like to touch on because I think that it's important to choose a pH balanced cleanser. Your skin's pH is a 4. 5 to a 5. 5 on the pH scale. And all of our cleansers are a 5. 5 to a 5. 6, which is actually printed on our packaging on each of the cleansers.
So a pH balanced cleanser is just going to ensure that you're not stripping your skin, you're not drying out your skin, you're not disrupting your skin's natural protective barrier, your acid mantle. A lot of conventional cleansers tend to use surfactants like lauryl sulfate, so they have high foaming properties and they tend to be more alkaline.
We use a safe, low foaming surfactant for all of our cleansers. It's a sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate which sounds very fancy, but it's really just saponified oils and plant starches and sugars. And like I said, we have four different cleansers in the line. Before we jump into them, I do want to touch on collections really quickly.
So within our line, we have a few different collections. The two main collections that we have that we will focus on today are the Signature Collection. So all of our Signature Collection products have this tan labeling. And these products are a lot of our best sellers. They are products that have been around since we first got started. And then the other main collection that we have is the Wild Alchemy Collection. So all of these products have the black and gold labeling. And the Wild Alchemy Collection. This is our luxury collection. What makes it our luxury collection is just that the products in this collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients. They contain more exotic ingredients. And a lot of times the crafting process, the way that those products are made is just a little bit more laborious. Okay. So those are the collections. We do have a couple of other smaller collections, but those are the two main collections that we have that we'll kind of focus on today.
So the cleansers, the first one that we'll talk about is the Aloe Herb Cleanser, which I think I left in my shower.
But this is our best selling cleanser. People love this one. If you have ever tried one of our starter kits or our trial kits, you've probably tried this cleanser. So this one It's great for all skin types. I like to tell people if you're feeling overwhelmed or you're not really sure where to start, this can be a good option, a good place to start. Because like I said, it's good for all skin types, so you really just can't go wrong with it. It's a creamy nourishing cleanser. It's got aloe in it, of course. So aloe is rich in vitamins and minerals and phytonutrients and enzymes. This one has calendula in it, which has a soothing and calming effect on the skin.
It has some lemon essential oil, which is purifying and brightening. It also gives it a really nice citrusy scent, which I think is part of why this product is so popular because people love the way it smells. One of our affiliates says it smells like lemon starburst. What else is in this one? Coconut oil. So the coconut oil contributes to that creamy texture. So somebody I know mentioned sensitive skin. Like I said, Grace is just going to be off camera today, but she is our poster child for sensitive skin and this is her favorite cleanser. She loves this one. I love it too, actually. I feel like I have a new found love for it because I actually tend to use the Phytonutrient, but lately I've just kind of been going back to the Aloe Herb for some reason and it's so nice. So that's the Aloe Herb Cleanser. The other one in our Signature Collection is the Citrus Mint, which I'm not sure that anybody in this group would need based on the concerns that you guys mentioned, but this is our purifying gel cleanser. So it's a gel consistency and it's just more of that purifying herb blend. It feels very cooling on the skin. It's got a witch hazel distillate in there. It's got the aloe, it's got some neem again, just more purifying. So this one would be more for oily skin types, or normal to oily. You could use this one if you have normal skin and you just like the feel of a gel cleanser. You could use that one.
And then the two that we have in our Wild Alchemy Collection are the Restorative Cleansing Oil and the Phytonutrient Cleanser. So I love both of these.
The Restorative Cleansing Oil, this one is a little bit different. So a typical cleanser, any of our other cleansers. You're going to dampen your skin, massage your cleanser into the skin, and then rinse clean and pat dry. This one you actually are going to apply to dry skin. So dry hands, dry face, massage it in, and then rinse.
And that can be it. A lot of people do like to remove this one with a washcloth or a steam towel. Or you can use this as the first step in a double cleanse routine. And if you wanted to do that, you would just cleanse with this first, rinse it off, and then do whatever cleanser you like for your second cleanse. So it could be Aloe Herb, Phytonutrient, whatever you want. I personally am a huge fan of oil cleansing. So I really love this one. This one is great for removing makeup. It's great for removing even eye makeup, like mascara, even waterproof mascara. This is great in the summer for removing sunscreen. It's great for all skin types. So for dry and mature skin it is very nourishing. It actually leaves a bit of an oil on the skin.
It is also great for oily skin types, I know somebody mentioned they were concerned with the look of enlarged pores. It actually can be great for that as well. It sounds kind of counterintuitive, but like attracts like, so the oil is going to help to kind of soften and break down excess oil and congestion in the skin. I actually struggled with congestion for a long time and I really love this product. This one has got, it's a jojoba oil base. So jojoba oil very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. This one also has some castor oil in it. It has tea tree oil, which is purifying. It has manuka oil. Manuka is really deep cleansing and calming to the skin. So this is a great one. Like I said, I'm kind of obsessed with jojoba oil and I'm kind of obsessed with manuka. So this has both of those things. So it's a winner in my book. And then the Phytonutrient Cleanser, the last one we'll talk about, this is also in the Wild Alchemy Collection.
And this would probably be a great choice for a lot of people in this group too. It's great for all skin types. It's great for brightening. Of any of the cleansers, this has the most brightening. properties. This is our most rich cleanser. So it's a cream cleanser similar to the Aloe Herb Cleanser, but it's a little bit thicker, it has an almost fatty texture because it has a mango seed butter in it. So it gives it that kind of thick, fatty texture. This one, it also has an apple extract. So like I said, it is great for brightening the look of skin. Apple is rich in vitamins C and malic acid that can help to brighten the look of skin.
This one also has some coconut oil in it. It's got our signature serum blend. It's got some acai in it. So giving it an antioxidant property. So that's the Phytonutrient. And really with any of the cleansers, I like to encourage people to really thoroughly cleanse, take your time, massage your cleanser into the skin versus just, you know, quickly putting it on and then rinsing it down the drain.
So those are all the cleansers. Questions about cleansing or cleansers or anything like that?
Okay. All right. Well, moving on to toners. So after you cleanse, then you are going to tone. We have three different toners in the line. The Rosemary Toning Mist, the Neroli Toning Mist, and the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. So toning is going to just help to complete the cleansing process, offer a dose of skin supporting nutrients, and hydration to the skin. Traditionally, toners were designed to kind of rebalance the skin after cleansing. But like I said, all of our cleansers are pH balanced but the pH of water is like a seven so it's still nice to use the toning mist to help to rebalance the skin after cleansing.
We'll start with the Neroli toning mist. This is our most popular toning mist. It's in our Signature Collection. It's a really simple formula. It's an aloe vera juice base. It's the Neroli, which is derived from fresh orange blossoms. So it smells really lovely. Another reason I think people love this one is because of the scent. And then it's got some aspen bark extract in there, which acts as a natural preservative. And it's also a natural source of salicins. So that's the Neroli Toning Mist.
And then the Rosemary Toning Mist. This one, again, in the Signature Collection. Oh, and I'm sorry, the Neroli, this one's good for all skin types. The Rosemary this one, again, is a very simple formula. It's that aloe vera juice base. It's got rosemary in it, of course. And then it has white willow bark, which again acts as a natural preservative and is also a natural source of salicins. A lot of times you'll find white willow bark in natural products as an alternative to using salicylic acid or a beta hydroxy acid. So that is the Rosemary Mist. This is actually my personal favorite, but like I said, I'm kind of a congestion prone girly. But I love it because it's not drying at all. So you're getting the purifying benefits of the rosemary and the white willow bark, but you're still getting a dose of hydration as well with that aloe vera juice.
So I know that somebody had mentioned enlarged pores. This can be a great option, especially if you're wanting to work on enlarged pores, but you're not somebody who's truly oily or you know, like congestion prone, you can still incorporate this product into your routine really easily. I love that one.
And then lastly, we have the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. This is the one in our Wild Alchemy Collection. It is a larger size. It comes in a bigger bottle than the Signature Collection ones. And this one is, aside from me because I love my Rosemary Mist, this is the favorite amongst the team. Everybody on the team loves this one. Grace who's on the call and she's our sensitive skin girly, like I mentioned. This is one of her holy grail products. This one again, it's good for all skin types. It is especially good for sensitive skin. It has a blend of four different types of chamomile in it.
This one also has immortelle, of course or life everlasting flowers which are a potent antioxidant. This one has frankincense in it. So known to tone, tighten and rejuvenate the skin. It's got some rose in it, so another really soothing and calming ingredient. So that is the Botanical Hydration Mist. And scent profile, like this one, to me, definitely smells more herbal with the frankincense in there. The rosemary obviously smells like rosemary, and like I said, the neroli is a little bit more sweet smelling from the neroli essential oil. If you're a scent person. And so your toning mist…after you cleanse, you're going to wash your face, you know, rinse your cleanser off, pat your skin dry, and then mist your toning mist over your face and neck. You can also mist your toning mist throughout the day. If you just want that extra dose of hydration or like a little refresh. All of our toning mist on the packaging, it says to mist, let it dry, and then apply your serum and oil. I actually don't love that recommendation. I would mist your toning mist, and then while your skin is still damp from your toning mist, then apply your serum and oil.
That's just going to help with absorption so that your serum and your oil are absorbed. really nicely into the skin. So they're not just kind of like sitting on the skin. And then I actually mist my toning mist after I apply my facial oil as well, which you don't need to do. It's just like a personal preference thing that I do, but I feel like, again, it just helps to kind of dilute that oil a little bit and give it a really nice finish.
So those are the toning mists. Questions about toning mist at all or anything else?
Customer: I just put a question in the chat about toner. So toner versus mist, are they the same thing? Are they just different words for the same thing? Can you sort of compare a toner versus a mist?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. I mean, they're pretty much the same thing. I would say. It's like interchangeable, a toner, a toning mist.
It's the same thing. I mean, some toners, like I was saying, more conventional toners, I guess might have more astringent properties. You know, like a kind of old school toner that you would put on the cotton and, you know, wipe your face with might have a little bit more of an astringent property.
You get that a little bit, like I was saying, with like the Rosemary Mist, we've got those natural sources of salicins in there. But none of our toners contain anything that's harsh or drying to the skin at all. They're more for offering hydration and skin supporting nutrients. If you're looking for something with more of the astringent properties, then definitely the rosemary would be the one of the three you would kind of want to go with.
Customer: Okay. So are you saying that with these, they are all used as a mist, not the cotton ball wiping technique?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I mean, if you really love doing the cotton ball, you absolutely could mist it onto a cotton pad or cotton ball. I don't love the cotton ball.
Customer: Yeah, I don't really love it either. I want everything to be quick and easy, so I don't need extra steps. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, of course. Awesome. Any other toner questions? Okay, cool. So after your toner, then you're going to apply your serum. So I feel like serums are where things start to get a little bit confusing for people just because we do have so many options. So again, ask any questions you've got and hopefully we can kind of help it be less confusing.
And a lot of it is just kind of trying different ones and seeing which one you love and which one your skin loves. And I always tell people with the serums. We do have, I believe all of our serums are available in a trial size. If there's any that you just wanna try and our Signature Collection serums the Anti-Aging Serum, the Citrus Stem Cell Serum, and the Probiotic Serum, those come in a little set in a travel size, which is kind of nice too if you're like, “I have no idea which one I wanna choose”. You could get something like that and try all three.
But serums in general are excellent hydrators. So there is the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that is lacking water and dry skin, which is skin that is lacking oil. Most people have a little bit of both. They have a little bit of dehydration, a little bit of dryness. And so we recommend using a combination of hydrating products and moisturizing products. Your hydrating products are your toning mist. and your serum. Your moisturizing product is your facial oil. So serums are excellent hydrators. They also usually contain high percentages of activated ingredients. So they're usually very concentrated. They allow you to kind of customize your routine to target and treat whatever your skin concerns are. They also are made up of a smaller molecule than facial oil, so they're able to penetrate more deeply to really get those activated ingredients deep into the skin so that they can work effectively.
So in our Signature Collection, we have three. We have the Anti-Aging Serum, the Probiotic Serum, and then the Citrus Stem Cell Serum, which I don't have here. We will start with the Anti-Aging Serum. So this is our most popular serum. It's our best selling serum. One of our best selling products always. People love this one.
I always tell people this is kind of like, you can think of it similar to the Aloe Herb Cleanser in that if you're overwhelmed or you don't know where to start you could try this one because it's good for all skin types and you just can't really go wrong with it. I like to think of it as an overall dose of skin nutrition, just a daily dose of skin nutrition.
So it's very antioxidant rich. It's got the life everlasting flowers, it's got buddleia extract, and then it's also very deeply hydrating. It has hyaluronic acid in it. We use a non GMO vegetable sourced hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular, in particular holds 1000 times its weight in water. So it's considered a super hydrator. So really deeply hydrating the skin is going to help to plump the skin. So plumping the skin is going to help to kind of minimize the appearance of fine lines. If your skin is dehydrated, it's going to emphasize the appearance of fine lines. What else? This one has some rose in it, so it's really soothing as well. So that's the Anti-Aging Serum. This one's scent profile, I'd say, is very, like, vetiver heavy. And then the Probiotic Serum With Tremella. This one, again, it's good for all skin types. It's especially good for sensitive skin or skin that's sort of out of balance.
So this one has the tremella mushroom extract in it which acts very similar to a hyaluronic acid, really deeply hydrating the skin. It's got a probiotic ferment in it and that's going to help to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin. It can help to balance the skin's pH. It's also got some olive leaf extract. It's got astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is a really powerful antioxidant that we use in a lot of our products. It is also what gives flamingos their pink color. Fun fact.
And then lastly in the Signature Collection is the Citrus Stem Cell Serum. So again, really this one could be used for any skin type. It is especially good for thicker textured skin, skin that's had a lot of exposure to the elements. It's good for dark spots. So that was mentioned in this group. It contains licorice root, uva ursi, and amlaberry.
So that's kind of the brightening trio in this one. So the amlaberry is really rich in vitamin C and then the licorice root and the uva ursi are lightening and brightening as well. Licorice root you find in a lot of natural products used as an alternative to like hydroquinone, which is kind of a yucky ingredient that you find in a lot of conventional products that are geared towards brightening and discoloration.
So that is, oh, and the Citrus Stem Cell also has citrus derived stem cells. So we use plant stem cells in our products. You will find stem cells in a lot of skin care products. A lot of times they are derived from places you don't want them to be derived from. So we use plant derived stem cells in all of our products.
This particular one is citrus derived. And these plant stem cells are going to provide the skin with proteins and peptides and amino acids that are really gonna help to strengthen the skin. And kind of increase resilience in the skin. So that's the citrus stem cell. So any questions about the Signature Collection Serums?
Any of those three at all? I think Grace is doing questions in the chat too. So maybe she got them all. Okay, so then in our Wild Alchemy Collection, we have a few as well. The Wild Fruit Serum, I actually don't have here, but I love that one. That one, I like to refer to it as our do it all serum. It's hydrating, it's brightening, it's anti-aging, it does it all.
Oh, also I forgot to talk about scent profiles. So probiotic the scent profile, some people don't like the way this one smells. I personally really like it. It smells very earthy. Some people say it smells like dirt. And then the citrus obviously smells more citrusy. The Wild Fruit Serum smells fruity, hence the name. But so the Wild Fruit Serum, like I said I call it our do it all serum. It's great for all skin types. It's got a copper infused water in it. It's got apple extract. So the same apple extract that's in the Phytonutrient Cleanser. So rich in vitamin C, rich in malic acid, which is going to help with brightening the look of skin.
This one also has knotweed extract, which is rich in resveratrol. It has Madonna lily plant cells. So the plant cells we just talked about, it has a really dense infusion of those plant cells. So it's about 1. 5 million active plant stem cells in each little bottle of the Wild Fruit Serum. This one also has kakadu plum extract.
This ingredient sort of sets it apart a little bit for me. The kakadu plum extract is very rich in vitamin C. So again, great for brightening the look of skin. It also contains phenolic acid and phenolic acid behaves on the skin sort of similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acids kind of dissolve the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. So they have a resurfacing, renewing effect on the skin. So great for improving texture and tone and all of that. So that is the Wild Fruit Serum.
And then we've got our Activated CBD Serum. This one is kind of an offshoot of the Wild Alchemy Collection. It's sold in our CBD boutique on the site, its own separate little thing, which is just because of the legality around selling a CBD product. So this one, when we chose to make this product, we wanted to source the best, of course. So we partnered with Ojai Energetics when we made this to source our CBD. They are really a leader and a pioneer in the CBD space. When we made this, we actually had a call with the owner of that company and I was just blown away by all of his knowledge and information. It was crazy. I was like, who knew so much about CBD? But this one is good for all skin types. This one is especially good for sensitive skin. Grace, our sensitive girly, this is her other kind of holy grail product. She loves this serum. So this one, the CBD, it's a little bit hard to say exactly what it does for the skin because it works with your body's natural endocannabinoid system to kind of go where it needs to go and do what it needs to do. But like I said, in general, this one has a very soothing, calming effect on the skin. It's very hydrating. It's got both hyaluronic acid and tremella mushroom extract in it. So it has a little bit of a thicker, richer, creamier texture than our other serums do. It smells really lovely too. And it's got both a water soluble and a fat soluble CBD in it, which is kind of cool and unique. And I would say it sets it apart from some of the other CBD products that you find on the market. So the water soluble CBD is absorbed more quickly, so it has more of an instant effect on the skin. And then the fat soluble CBD has more of a cumulative effect. So it's absorbed more slowly, and has more of a cumulative effect over time. And then this one has got a bunch of really powerful antioxidants in it as well. The astaxanthin, again, has superoxide dismutase in it. This one has mangosteen oil. It's got black cumin seed oil. So that is the CBD. So in general, I kind of tell people how I think of it with the Signature Collection Serums versus the Wild Alchemy Collection Serums. The Signature Collection Serums are a little bit more like, targeted, and then the Wild Alchemy Collection Serums are a little bit more all encompassing like, the way that the Wild Fruit is kind of the “do it all serum”. So those are kind of the main serums. And then we also have our Activated Night Serum.
So this is our most recent serum launch. It is in the Wild Alchemy Collection and it is fantastic. So this one features our bioactive A-Complex. This is our alternative to using a retinol. So you've probably heard of retinol. I feel like retinol and vitamin A derivatives are obviously very popular. They're kind of like the gold standard in anti-aging ingredients. But they're not necessarily great. They're not great for health, for reproductive health. They're really not great for your skin, your skin health. If you're using them over an extended period of time it can start to kind of thin the skin, which is really not what we want. We want to create healthy resilient skin as we age. We don't want to thin the skin. So the bioactive A-Complex is completely safe. It is derived from algae. We actually have a really great blog on this ingredient that our COO wrote pretty recently. Grace could probably link that in the chat if anybody's interested.
But it's going to have a similar effect on the skin, that kind of resurfacing, renewing effect that you get from a traditional retinol. But again, it's a completely safe ingredient. A lot of times traditional retinoids can cause a lot of sensitivity and irritation in the skin. This one does not. Even Grace, who has very sensitive skin, is able to use this. It's nice because it's a good balance, like we've paired that active bioactive A-Complex with really soothing and calming ingredients. It's got lavender. It's got blue chamomile. So it's a really nice balance and a nice combination and if you are more sensitive you can start out by using it every other night or maybe twice a week or something like that.
And this one again, it's very hydrating. It's kind of that thicker, creamier texture. You do want to use that one at night. And you want to use it with an SPF during the day, just because it can make you a little bit more sensitive to the sun.
Okay, those are the serums. Any questions about serums?
Customer: Hey, Emily, I got a question on that last one you just were talking about. That's the one that just actually brought me to y'all, y'all's skin care line because I saw a Facebook ad for it. Okay, so loaded question. All of my skin care is completely clean and organic. You can pronounce absolutely everything in it, except tretinoin. Here's my problem. I want to switch so badly and I've tried products with Bakuchiol and stuff like that. They don't do what that stuff does. What can you say to convince me? What does this do? I know I'm not doing something good for my body by using conventional retinol. So it's like the whole thing. That's why I'm super interested in it. But at the same time, I've just been disappointed by everything that seems to claim that it does what retinol does. Cause yeah, so what I'm noticing is that it just brightens the skin like nothing else does. It makes the skin practically flawless and I have a very low dose of it. So that's why I'm having a hard time separating and then I can tell when I don't use it. And I tried to stay away from it for about three months and then I couldn't do it anymore.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So it's kind of just, I mean, I feel like for something like that, it's really a matter of just trying it for yourself to see if the results feel comparable to you. We do have a great return policy. So if you get it and you try it for 30 days, if it's within the 30 days and you feel like, nope, it's not for me, it's and if it's not giving you the same result, you can return or exchange it.
And I mean, for me, I do feel like I really notice a result. I feel like in the past, I did use all of the things, because like I said, I struggled with my skin. So I used the benzoyl peroxide and the salicylic acid and the tretinoin and the antibiotics and all of that stuff. For me, I always felt like those things would work for me for a bit and then it would kind of hit a point and not work as well or something, which somebody on a call recently was just saying she kind of felt the same, that she always would have to like up the strength of her products to continue getting results. Maybe you don't have that issue, but I also felt like as I mentioned just for my overall skin health I noticed when I was using the vitamin A and those other harsh products that my skin did tend to dry out more quickly and I noticed the thinning of the skin. So it could just be personal experience. Maybe you're not experiencing that, but for me I did. And so switching over to natural products, I just noticed the difference in the overall health of my skin. Even when I first started switching and was still struggling with skin issues overall my skin just felt better. Healthier. So I don't know. It's kind of a trade off. I feel like for somebody like you who really loves that product, I feel like all you can do is try it and see if you feel like the results are comparable for you. But to me, I feel like I do notice the results with the brightening and the texture of my skin and that sort of thing.
Hopefully that helps. But I would just try it for yourself. I would give it maybe 30 days and just see if you feel like it's delivering the similar result that you're looking for that you're getting from your traditional vitamin A.
All right, hopefully that helps. Any other serum questions? Also, I think we're still doing this. Are we still doing this Grace? If you want to try the Activated Night Serum for free we are doing a social media campaign right now, with the goal of getting rid of 1,000 toxic products. And so if you create a video of yourself getting rid of a traditional vitamin A product. We will send you a free Activated Night Serum. And if you are wanting to do that, but you are not on social media, that's fine. You can still do it. You would just email us the video. And you would just email it to [email protected]. But there's a way you could try it for free if you want to.
Okay, cool. All right, so no other serum questions? Okay, well let's see. I guess we'll touch on elixirs really quickly. I always kind of go back and forth if I should talk about these because I don't want to overwhelm people. So the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs are these right here. These are just kind of a fun extra product. People are like, do I need to get the elixirs? No, you don't need to get the elixirs. They're just kind of fun. They're kind of a unique product. They come in the set of three, they allow you to really further customize your routine and further boost the level of activated ingredients in your routine.
So the set of three contains the Hydrate Elixir, the Brighten Elixir, and the Revitalize Elixir. The way that you use these, you never use them directly on your skin. They are always to be mixed. So ideally you would mix with your serum. If for some reason you're not using a serum, you can mix it with your facial oil.
So you would pump your serum into the palm of your hand. They come with this little dropper top. They're like a pretty kind of thin aqueous consistency, and you would just drop one to three drops of the elixir into your serum. Mix it up. press it in, rub it in, whatever you like to do. So the hydrate, this is a hyaluronic acid with vegan collagen pre peptides. We already talked about hyaluronic acid, so very deeply hydrating, plumping, the peptides are strengthening. It has the Brighten, which is a pure vitamin C with sea buckthorn that one is brightening, obviously. So the vitamin C that we use is a tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate or THDA. The reason that we chose that particular form of vitamin C is because it's a very stable form of vitamin C.
A lot of vitamin C products on the market, they're not stable. So you open the product, it goes rancid really quickly, and then it's not effective. This is also a very non irritating form of vitamin C. So a lot of vitamin C products on the market can cause some sensitivity and irritation. This one is a pH of 7, which is the same pH as water, so it's very non irritating. Trying to think what else with that one. I guess that's it. And then the Revitalize, this one is the bioactive A-Complex with astaxanthin. So this is the exact same ingredient that is in the Activated Night Serum, that bioactive A-Complex, that retinol alternative paired with astaxanthin, that very potent antioxidant that we already talked about.
So for the customer who was asking about the Activated Night Serum, and option, if you wanted to, you could use your Activated Night Serum and you could add three drops of this Revitalize Elixir to this at nighttime to get even more of a potent dose of that bioactive A. So that would be an option for you if you're trying to really kind of mimic the effects of that traditional retinol. So the Revitalize Elixir, this one you use only at night and again with an SPF during the day. The Hydrate, you can use morning or night. The Brighten, the vitamin C, typically you would use that one in the morning. And you can mix and match. So Like I said, you use one to three drops. So if you wanted to in the morning, you could do two drops of hydrate mixed with one drop of brighten and then at night three drops of revitalize or maybe two drops revitalize and one drop hydrate.
But those are the elixirs. Okay. Then, any other questions? Oh yes, Brightening, Grace got that. Awesome. Yeah, so perfect. I mean, Grace pretty much covered it. Brightening is referring to, if you have dark spots or pigmentation that you're really wanting to lighten the appearance of or just overall brightening, just like increasing overall radiance in the skin as well.
Okay, cool. So let's move on to moisturizers and facial oils. So again, we have several different oils in the line. We'll start with the herbal facial oils. So in the Signature Collection, we have the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin, the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin, and the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. I don't have that one here, but all three of the herbal facial oils are a grape seed oil base. Grape seed oil is a light textured skin balancing oil. It absorbs quickly. I don't usually go too deep into these herbal facial oils because they're kind of self explanatory. They really are named for the skin type they're designed for.
So they all are that grape seed oil base, and then they all contain an herb blend geared toward the skin type that they're made for. So the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin is a balancing facial oil. This one's got some echinacea in there. It's got some goji in there.
The Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin. This one obviously contains a more purifying herb blend. So it's got the neem, which is really detoxifying. It's got the black cumin seed oil, which is good for congestion. And then the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. That one contains no added essential oils. So it makes it a good option for sensitive skin. It has got a bunch of different omega rich oils in there. So it's got camellia seed oil. It's got sacha inchi oil. But that is the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive. And then we've got the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. This one is the other one in our Signature Collection.
This one is very popular. Again, one of our best selling products always, people love this one. This one is good for dry and mature skin. It's very nourishing. It's that jojoba oil base. It's got a bunch of different seed oils in it. So it's got carrot seed oil, broccoli seed oil, chia seed oil. Chia, for example, is rich in vitamin B and zinc.
So this is just a very nourishing, restorative facial moisturizer ideal for dry and mature skin. And then in our Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. This is our most potent, our most active facial oil. And the reason for that is the way that it's made. So our other facial oils contain maybe 20 different seed oils in the blend, and they have a bunch of different CO2 extracts and herbs in there. This one has far fewer. So this facial oil only contains one herb, it's the butterfly pea flower, and then it contains fewer of the seed oils and CO2 extracts. And the reason for that is that we were then able to include those ingredients at higher concentrations, at higher percentages. So it makes it more active, more potent. So this one is good for any skin type, unless you're extremely sensitive. This one's got Baobab oil in it, which is really brightening. It's got marula oil, which is rich in antioxidants. It's got mongongo oil, which is really softening to the skin. It gives it that soft feel. It's got blue tansy, so it has kind of this little bit of a green color from that blue tansy. But I love this one. It's my fave.
And like I said earlier, all of our facial moisturizers are oils. The reason for that is just that oils are easily absorbed by the skin. Your skin's natural form of moisture is oil. Oils are also more pure. They don't require any fillers or waxes to be used. One thing that I like to mention to people, because people are often like, I don't know what ingredients to look for when I go to the store to know if a product is clean or not clean.
So, a lot of times with traditional creams or lotions water tends to be one of the first ingredients. And usually ingredients are listed by concentration. So if water is one of the first ingredients and then your active ingredients are at the bottom of the list, that's not ideal because water isn't really doing much for you. Also if a product contains water, it has to contain more preservatives because bacteria can grow more easily. So you don't have that issue with oils.
And so for your oil, after you mist your toning mist, you would apply your serum, and then after you apply your serum, you would apply your facial oil over top. And it's just kind of personal preference if you want to, like some people like to mist, apply their serum, mist again, apply their oil, or if you want to just kind of do it in layers, that's perfect too. But those are facial oils. Any questions about facial oils?
No? Okay. So that covers your basic routine. That's your basic four step routine. So then we just have extras. So we'll start out with eye products because I know somebody mentioned the eye area being a concern. We have two eye products, the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum and the Anti-Aging Eye Cream. Both are excellent. I tend to tell people that if you're going to just choose one or the other, I personally like the eye cream. My eye area just always feels really dry and this one feels very nourishing to me. It's got damas rose plant cells. It's got cucumber, which is rich in silica and cooling, of course.
The Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, this one, it's got sake peptides in it, it's got pineapple ceramides. It's a thinner consistency, so more of a serum, obviously, where the eye cream is more of a creamy consistency. This one, usually I tell people like if your eye area is your main concern, you might want both and you could layer them.
So you would layer the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum underneath the eye cream. The Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum can also be great for dark circles. If that's your main concern those sake peptides can kind of help to retexturize the under eye area to kind of brighten the look. This one, I always like to tell people to only use a very tiny bit. You really do not need very much of this one. If you overuse it, it can kind of, it just doesn't apply nicely. So you really only need a very tiny bit of the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum. But those are the two eye care products.
Then Sun Love, that's our sunscreen. I like to mention that one because we talked about the Activated Night Serum and the Revitalize Elixir.
So the Sun Love Everyday Sheer Sunscreen. It's an SPF 20. It's a broad spectrum. It's a non nano zinc oxide. It is reef safe. It's got burruti fruit oil. It's got pumpkin seed oil. So it contains those really nourishing oils. So it's just personal preference. If you want to use that Sun Love as your daytime moisturizer, just on its own, you can or you can apply it over top of a facial oil if you want to. Again, that's just personal preference.
And what else? Then we've got exfoliants. Usually I touch on exfoliants a little bit because I do think exfoliating is important in a routine. We have three different exfoliants in the line. They are the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant, and the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant.
So the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, this is a dry powdered exfoliant. It's good for all skin types, including very sensitive skin. It's very, very gentle. It's got fenugreek in it. That's what gives it its little bit of scrubby, gritty texture. Like I said, it's a dry powder, so you just shake it into the palm of your hand. You can mix some water to create a paste, massage it in, and rinse. You can also just mix this one right in with your cleanser, which is what I like to do, because it saves a step. This one, like I said, because it's so gentle, most people can use this every day if you want to, or you could just use it a few times a week, whatever you prefer.
The Kaolin Micro Exfoliant, this our cream exfoliant. It's a little bit richer. It's got the kaolin clay. Any kind of clay is going to be very purifying, very mineral rich. It's got lavender essential oil, so calming. That's also the scent profile. And then it's got crushed bamboo powder. So that is what gives it its scrubby gritty texture. This one also, if you're sensitive, you can use this one and mix it with your cleanser as well. It mixes really nicely with the Aloe Herb Cleanser. It smells great. That lemon lavender combo. And then lastly, our Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant, that one is a little bit different because it's a chemical exfoliant.
So the Ayurvedic and the Kaolin are physical exfoliants. They have that scrubby gritty texture that is physically polishing the skin. The Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant is a chemical exfoliant. So chemical in the way that it works on the skin, not that it contains a bunch of chemicals but it's just a smooth gel texture.
The exfoliating component is a honey derived lactic acid. Lactic acid is a very mild alpha hydroxy acid. And the way that you use it, you just apply it to clean skin. You leave it on for like two or three minutes to start, and then you make sure that you thoroughly remove that one. You rinse it clean. You can work your way up to using that for like 10 minutes. For some people it can feel kind of active, a little bit tingly. But you can work your way up to leaving it on for 10 minutes if you want to, if you have more resilient skin. That one you do want to use in the evening and with an SPF during the day.
That one's got some cooling cucumber. It's got the blue tansy. So again, it's kind of this nice balance of that active lactic acid and then the really soothing, calming ingredients to give it that nice balance. That one you would only want to use once a week, for most people. The Kaolin, this one you would use probably twice a week, maybe three times a week, depending.
But those are the exfoliants. And so exfoliation is going to help remove impurities from the skin. If you don't exfoliate, you can get kind of this layer of buildup and then your treatment products aren't able to really penetrate deeply to work effectively. Exfoliation is also going to help to improve the look of enlarged pores. It's going to prevent congestion. So that is exfoliation.
Any questions? You guys are quiet. No?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, lastly, let's talk about masks and then we can wrap it up. So treatment masks, we have a few different ones. The Illuminating Pearl Mask, this one is great. Everybody loves it. Everybody should just try it. Buy it. This one is a hydrating, brightening treatment mask. It's good for all skin types. It has a crushed pearl powder in it, so it gives it kind of this, like, radiance, this luminosity that it imparts onto the skin. And then in addition to that, it has the licorice root and uva ursi, which are the same ingredients in the Citrus Stem Cell Serum that help to lighten the look of dark spots. This one has honey in it, so honey is a humectant that draws moisture to the skin.
This one, you can't really overdo it with this one. You can use it every day if you want to. You can leave it on for 45 minutes. You can leave it on overnight if you want. It's very, it's kind of like this creamy jelly texture. So it feels really nice and cool on the skin. So it's great for helping with the look of puffiness in the morning. If you're not sensitive in your under eye area, you can use it under the eyes as a brightening treatment for under eyes. So that is a great one.
Coconut Honey, that one's good for dry skin, good for sensitive skin. It's like a very thick, balmy texture. It's a simple formula. A lot of people like that one, like in the wintertime usually.
The Charcoal Cacao Mask, this is a very antioxidant rich, detoxifying mask. It's got activated coconut charcoal so that's got a very detoxifying, purifying effect. It is also black, so it will stain your white stuff so be careful. And then it's got the cacao and the turmeric, the antioxidant property in there. This one you would want to use probably like once a week.
Then the Purifying Mud Mask, I don't know if anybody in this group needs this one, but I'm going to talk about it because it's my favorite. So this one it's a dry powder again. So you can mix it with just water but you can also mix it with Manuka honey, which like I mentioned, I'm Manuka obsessed. So I get a Manuka honey UMF 15. You can get it on Amazon. You can get it at the health food store. And I like to mix it with the mud mask because then you are getting the honey, like I just mentioned is a humectant. So it's drawing moisture to the skin, but you're also getting the purifying properties of the mud. Manuka honey in particular also has a slew of other skin benefits. So that is my personal favorite. Along with the pearl mask. Those are both kind of my favorite. You can even mix the pearl mask with the mud mask.
That's a fun combo. But those are the masks. And so like if you were doing a full routine, you would cleanse, then if you wanted to exfoliate, you would exfoliate. And then if you wanted to mask, you would mask after you exfoliate. And then you would remove your mask and apply your toner, your serum, your oil.
Any other questions? Recommendations for thinning skin on the back of the hands. Oh, good one.
So you really could use any of our facial products on your hands. You can use them, like, people ask a lot of times about neck and decollete. So I always just kind of pull my products down to that area as I apply them, but we also have our Radiant Skin Silk, which is a body lotion, but that is really nice. For the hands as well. And a lot of people, I haven't tried it myself, but a lot of people like that Radiant Skin Silk too, on the neck and decollete.
Any other questions? Ah, daytime same as nighttime.
Yes. So your daytime and your nighttime routine can be the same. So for your cleanser, toner, serum, and oil you can use the same products for both. The only exceptions would be the Activated Night Serum you only want to use at night, the Revitalize Concentrated Boosting Elixir, you only want to use at night and the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant. Those three products you only want to use at night. And obviously the sunscreen you would only use during the day. But you can use any of the other products morning and night. And so your routine can be the same. If you want to you could also alternate, so you could use one serum in the morning and a different one at night. Like if you are wanting to use more than one of our serums.
Awesome. Any other questions? Oh I see another in the chat about storing products in a cooler while camping in the heat. That's a good question. I would say it definitely would not hurt to put them in a cooler. I mean, because, you know, typically it's going to be best to store them in a cool, dry place. So if you're able to put them in a cooler, I think that would be a really smart idea.
Any other questions?
Customer: Okay, so I don't know how to do the chat. I'm really IT challenged. And I'm in the sun from six in the morning till about one in the afternoon every day. Because I run a camp, I teach horseback riding at a camp. So I feel like I'm just not even able to maintain my skin. I wear my hat. I put my sunscreen on, but I just, you know, want to get your opinion, like, what would be the best things I could do to get through the summer? And you can tell I'm 70 years old. So I'm an old lady with a lot of work to do. But I want to know, you know, what can I do to just make it, what's the best option for getting through the summer?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, well, it sounds like you're doing the right things. I mean, obviously the hat, obviously the sunscreen, and then you can just incorporate using something like maybe the Citrus Stem Cell Serum in the morning underneath of your sunscreen. Just having that potent dose of antioxidants could be really helpful. And then other than that, just kind of really nourishing the skin. So like after you're in the sun, you know, using those nourishing products, like maybe the Anti-Aging Facial Oil or incorporating the pearl mask would be a great thing to do maybe a couple times a week because it's got those brightening ingredients in there.
Customer: Okay. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, of course. Good questions. Best approach for sensitive skin.
So Grace, like I said, is our sensitive girly. Her routine uses the Aloe Herb Cleanser. She uses the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle, and then she uses either the Probiotic Serum or the CBD Serum.
And then for her facial moisturizer she uses the Sun Love during the day. She actually uses the Radiate Facial Oil too. That one we did not touch on just because I try not to overwhelm people. But so, like I said, we have the two main collections, the Signature, the Wild Alchemy. One of our smaller collections is the Essentials Collection.
That collection contains just two ingredients. It's the Renew Cream Cleanser and the Radiate Facial Oil. And this collection, these two products are offered at a lower price point than any of our other products. The reason for that is just that those products don't contain our or herb infusions. So they're just really simple formulas. The crafting process is more simple. But that Radiate Oil, that's the facial oil that Grace likes. I actually really like that one too. I always kind of laugh because I feel like my two favorite facial oils are the Rejuvenating and the Radiate, which are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum, which is where I just think it's like so much personal preference.
But I know that is kind of her basic routine. Are you impressed with how well I know your routine, Grace? Did I get it right?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So that is a good one for sensitive skin. Any other questions?
