Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: From there we can move on to products, routines, etc. It looks like there are quite a wide variety of concerns for this group that were mentioned in your surveys. So we'll probably cover quite a few products. Some of the concerns that you guys mentioned were aging, sensitivity, congestion, dry skin, dull skin, brightness and enlarged pores. So like I said, that's an extensive list. But we'll try and kind of touch a little bit on everything.
So the general routine that we recommend for pretty much everybody, your basic morning and evening routine is cleansing, toning, and then using a serum and a moisturizer, which right now all of our facial moisturizers are oils. And that's kind of the basic four step routine. That's just a general recommendation. I usually like to tell people to really kind of play around and find what works best for your skin, what works best for your lifestyle. Maybe if you're somebody who currently has no routine, you're probably not going to jump into a six step routine and be really consistent with it and that's totally fine. I would say the most basic routine, the most pared down routine that you would want to have is at least a cleanser and a facial oil. And then you could kind of add stuff in and build from there.
But that's the basic routine. So that's kind of what we'll start by focusing on.
And whether your routine has 10 steps in it, or if it's got two steps in it, you're going to start with cleansing. Cleansing is just going to remove makeup and impurities from the skin. A thorough cleanse is going to help to prep the skin so that it can better absorb the treatment products that you're using so that they can work effectively.
We have four different cleansers in the line. They are the Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Citrus Mint Cleanser, the Phytonutrient Cleanser, and the Restorative Cleansing Oil. And within our line, we have a few different collections. The two main collections that we have that we'll focus on are the Signature Collection and the Wild Alchemy Collection. So the Signature Collection products have this tan labeling. These products are products that have been around since we got started. A lot of them are our best sellers. And then our Wild Alchemy Collection. All of those products have the black and gold labeling. And this is our luxury collection. And what makes it our luxury collection is just that the products in that collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients—so things like our bioactive A Complex and our THDA, which is our pure vitamin C. And then they also contain more exotic ingredients. Things like baobab oil and mongongo oil. And then also the crafting process, the way that they're made is usually just a little bit more laborious as well. But those are the two main collections within the line.
The first cleanser that we'll start out with is the Aloe Herb Cleanser. This one is very popular. This is our best selling cleanser. People love this one. If you've ever tried one of our starter kits or our trial kits, you've probably tried this one. This one is great for all skin types. So a lot of times I tell people if you're feeling confused, if you're overwhelmed, if you don't know where to start, this can be a good choice. It’s good for all skin types. It's a pH balanced cream cleanser. It's an aloe vera base, of course. So aloe is really rich in vitamins and minerals. It's rich in phytonutrients and enzymes. So all things that are going to help to really nourish the skin. Aloe also contains some naturally occurring saponins in it. This one has coconut oil, so that's kind of what contributes to that nice creamy texture. It's got calendula, so it's really soothing and calming—this can be a good choice for sensitive skin types. And then some lemon essential oil as well. So that's going to be purifying and brightening and it gives it a really nice scent too, which I think is part of why this one is so popular. One of our affiliates said it smells like a lemon starburst, which I loved.
The other one in the Signature Collection is the Citrus Mint Cleanser. So this one is our purifying gel cleanser. So this is going to be more for normal, combination or oily skin types. It's again that aloe vera base and then it's just got that more purifying herb blend. There's some neem in there, a witch hazel distillate. It feels very refreshing and cooling on the skin. So that's the Citrus Mint.
And then the two that are in our Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Phytonutrient Cleanser. I love this one. This is a cream cleanser. So similar to the Aloe Herb in texture, though I would say it's a little bit thicker. It has a little bit of an almost fattier texture, from the mango seed butter that's in it. This one also has an apple extract in it. So that apple extract is great for brightening the look of skin. It's rich in vitamin C and malic acid. Somebody had mentioned dull skin and this can be a great choice for that. Trying to think what else is in this one. There's some acai in there. There's some coconut oil in this one as well.
And then lastly, the Restorative Cleansing Oil. This one is also in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one's a little bit different than the others. So all of the others are more traditional cleansers. You're just going to dampen your face, massage your cleanser into the skin, and then rinse it clean.
This one, as the name suggests, is an oil cleanser. So you're going to apply it to dry skin with dry hands. This one is good for all skin types. So for dry and mature skin, it feels very nourishing. It leaves a bit of an oil on the skin, even after you rinse, especially if you're just using it on its own and you're just rinsing it to remove. Let's see what else with this one, even for congested skin, somebody had mentioned enlarged pores as a concern, this can be a good option. It sounds counterintuitive, but like attracts like so the oil is going to help to attach to oil based impurities in the skin to remove those impurities and then also soften up and break down excess oil and congestion in the skin. So it can be really balancing. A lot of times more oily skin types, you know, it's recommended to use a foaming cleanser, which traditionally some foaming cleansers contain like harsh surfactants and they're more alkaline. So then they can kind of strip your skin. And after you use it, they leave the skin feeling sort of tight and dry. And that actually can have the opposite effect on the skin because then your skin thinks, “oh, I'm really dry so I'm going to overproduce all of this oil”. So this one can be beneficial even for oily or congestion prone skin. Like I said, you are going to apply this one to dry skin, really massaging it in. Especially if you're using it to address congestion, you are focusing your massage on those areas that are typically prone to congestion (i.e. around the nose, around the chin and mouth area, etc). And then you can just rinse it clean and that can be it. Some people like to remove this one with a warm cloth. You can also use this one as the first step in a double cleanse routine. So if you wanted to do that, you would just massage it in, rinse it off, and then follow with whichever cleanser you like for your second cleanse. Aloe Herb, Phytonutrient, whatever you want. And this one, it's a jojoba oil base. So jojoba oil very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. This one also has some castor oil in it which is rich in fatty acids. It's got tea tree oil, which is really purifying. And then manuka oil as well which is really deep cleansing and calming. So I love this one. I'm a huge fan of oil cleansing.
Those are the cleansers. All of our cleansers are pH balanced. Your skin's pH is a 4. 5 to a 5. 5 on the pH scale. All of our cleansers are 5. 5 to 5. 6, which is actually printed on our packaging. So choosing a pH balanced cleanser is important to ensure that you're not disrupting your skin's natural balance. You’re not disrupting your acid mantle—your skin’s natural protective barrier. So that's important when you're looking at cleansers. And like I said, we don't use any harsh surfactants or sulfates in our cleansers. We don't use any laurel sulfates. We use a sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate. That's our surfactant. And it's a safe, low foaming surfactant option.
Any questions about cleansing or cleansers?
Customer: What about the age difference? I notice everybody's younger than I. I am in my eighties.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Well, we welcome all ages. As far as cleansing goes I tend to recommend the Phytonutrient Cleanser if addressing signs of aging is your main concern. This is our most luxe, most active, and most rich cleanser. So it is a great option and one of my personal faves.
Customer: Okay. What if I have large pores? So that's a concern and I can't use tea tree oil because that's too drying for me. I'm kind of like a test person for different products until I find something that really agrees with my skin. I did get one of your trial kits and so far so good. It’s got 3 little samples in it. So should I use this Anti-Aging Serum first?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah. So I'm assuming that what you have is the serum trio that came with the Anti-Aging Serum, Citrus Stem Cell, and Probiotic, correct?
So those are the three serums in our Signature Collection. And you're correct, you would cleanse your face then mist your toning mist, and then apply your serum followed by a facial oil. And since you have three there, you could just alternate, like you could use the Citrus Stem Cell in the morning and the Anti-Aging Serum in the evening. Or if you wanted to you could use just the Anti-Aging Serum, finish that one, then use just the Citrus Stem Cell, etc. That's kind of up to you. And we haven't really got to serums yet, but your serum is kind of your hydrator. So then after you use your serum, you would want to use your facial oil which doesn't come in that little kit, but you would want to use a facial oil as your moisturizer. And as far as addressing the look of enlarged pores there are a few things that can be helpful, one of which is exfoliation, which we have not got to yet, but we will.
Customer: Okay. I tend to use natural products, so what I've gone to is castor oil as a moisturizer. Which really has helped the little bumps in my skin, it has taken those away. And it seems to be okay for the daytime. It keeps my face moisturized. I probably should use it in the evening instead of the daytime. And I use coconut oil as a cleanser. It really does the trick.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That's perfect. I have used coconut oil myself in the past as a makeup remover and if I am going to use a pure oil as a moisturizer I tend to lean toward jojoba oil, but that's just my personal preference. If the castor oil is working well for you, you can continue with that. And I think that's great to use, you know those pure oils can be wonderful, but I think if you're wanting to address the look of fine lines and wrinkles etc. it can be really great to incorporate some of these products like those serums that you have right there because then they're going to include more of those activated ingredients that can really help to address those things. So I think that serum trio that you've got is perfect.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: All right, you guys. Well, let's go ahead and move on to toning mists. So we can keep on rolling here and that way we can get to other questions if we need to. So after your cleanser, then the next step in your routine would be your toner or your toning mist. We have three toners in the line. We have the Rosemary Toning Mist, the Neroli Toning Mist, and the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. Your toner is just going to complete the cleansing process. It's going to offer a dose of hydration and skin supporting nutrients. None of our toners are harsh or stripping or anything like that.
So the Neroli Toning Mist, we'll start with this one. This is in our Signature Collection. This is our most popular, best selling toner. It's a really simple formula. It's the aloe vera juice base, the neroli, of course. The neroli is derived from fresh orange blossoms. So it has a really lovely scent. I think that's part of the reason this one is so popular. People love the way it smells.
And then, what else? There’s some aspen bark extract in here. So that aspen bark extract is just acting as a natural preservative and also is a natural source of salicins.
And then the other one in our Signature Collection is the Rosemary Toning Mist. This one again, is a simple formula, the aloe vera juice, it's got some white willow bark in there, which is another natural source of salicins and then the Rosemary, which is stimulating, cleansing, and clarifying. So this one is going to be good for normal, combination, or oily skin types.
And then the last one is the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. This one is in the Wild Alchemy Collection. It is a larger size. Just a side note. But this one is great for all skin types. This one can be especially good for sensitive skin types. There's a blend of four different types of chamomile in here. There's also some rose. So very soothing. It’s got Frankincense, which is known to tone, tighten and rejuvenate the skin. So kind of giving it that anti-aging property and then the immortelle, of course, or the life everlasting flowers which are a potent antioxidant. So that is the botanical. This one, Grace is actually our sensitive skin poster child here at Annmarie Skin Care and this is one of her “holy grail” products. So a great one, like I was saying for sensitive skin types.
And so with your toning mist, after you cleanse, you just pat your skin dry, mist your toning mist, and then I believe the packaging for all of our toners says to mist, let it dry, and then apply your serum. I actually don't love that recommendation. I would mist your toning mist, and then while your skin is still damp from the toner, then apply your serum. That's just going to help your serum to absorb better. So it doesn't ever feel like it's kind of just sitting on the skin. It's absorbed really nicely. That's just kind of personal preference, but that's my recommendation. So those are the toning mists. The toner can also be misted throughout the day if you want too. If you just want a little boost of hydration or a little refresh or pick me up you can do that as well. So toners are kind of straightforward, but any questions about toners or any other cleansing questions that we didn't get to?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: No? All right. So then the next step in your routine would be your serum. We have several different serums in the line. I feel like serums and oils are where things can start to get a little bit confusing. So serums in general are excellent hydrators. There's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water and dry skin, skin that's lacking oil.
Most people have a combination of both. They have a little bit of dryness, a little bit of dehydration. And so that's why we recommend using a combination of hydrating and moisturizing products together to just help to achieve that optimal balance in your skin. And so your hydrator, that's going to be your toning mist and your serum, and then your moisturizer, that's going to be your facial oil.
So, also, in general, serums are usually very concentrated. So they contain high levels of activated ingredients so they allow you to kind of customize your skin care routine, they allow you to kind of target and treat whatever your specific concerns are and like I said, we have a bunch of different ones.
We'll start with the Anti-Aging Serum. This is our most popular serum, probably our most popular product. People love this one. It's in the Signature Collection. This one is great for all skin types. So, kind of like with the Aloe Herb Cleanser, I tell people if you're not really sure what to go with, this can be a good choice because you kind of just can't go wrong with this one. This one is very antioxidant rich. It's got buddleja extract. It's got the life everlasting flowers in it. It's got some rose in it. Rose is nurturing and helps to soothe the appearance of temporary redness in the skin. And then this one is very deeply hydrating. So this one has hyaluronic acid in it. We use a non GMO vegetable sourced hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic, in particular, can hold 1,000 times its weight in water so it's considered a super hydrator. So really deeply hydrating the skin is going to kind of have a plumping effect and help to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, whereas if your skin is really dehydrated, it's going to kind of emphasize the appearance of fine lines.
The Citrus Stem Cell Serum, I actually don't have this one here with me, but the Citrus Stem Cell Serum that one is good for all skin types as well. It's especially good for thicker textured skin, that sort of like leathery skin or skin that's had a lot of exposure to the elements, a lot of sun exposure. The Citrus Stem Cell Serum is great for brightening the look of skin. It's great for targeted brightening. So if dark spots are a concern, like if you have just a couple of dark spots that you're really working to lighten the appearance of, this Citrus Stem Cell could be a good choice. This one, there's kind of two aspects of this one. There's the citrus-derived stem cells. So we use plant derived stem cells in our products. You'll find stem cells in a lot of different products, different product lines out there. And they're often derived from a variety of places. They could be derived from animals. They could even be derived from humans. All of our stem cells that we use in our products are plant derived. And these stem cells are going to just provide proteins and peptides and amino acids—all these things that are going to really help strengthen the skin and kind of support your natural skin barrier to create healthy, resilient skin.
So that's kind of one aspect of this one. And then the brightening component is kind of the other side of this one and the brightening trio that's in this serum is the amla berry, the licorice root, and the uva ursi. So amla berry is very rich in vitamin C and then licorice root and uva ursi are both lightening and brightening ingredients. Licorice root you'll often find in a lot of natural products used as an alternative to hydroquinone, which is kind of a yucky ingredient that you'll find in a lot of conventional products geared towards lightening and brightening the skin. But that's the Citrus Stem Cell.
And then the last one in the Signature Collection is the Probiotic Serum With Tremella. So this one again, really good for all skin types. Anybody could use it. It's especially great for sensitive skin or skin that's kind of out of balance. This one, it's got a probiotic ferment in it. So that probiotic ferment is going to help to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin. It can kind of help to balance the skin's pH as well. This one has the tremella mushroom extract in it. So tremella, it's going to act kind of similar to hyaluronic acid really deeply hydrating the skin. This one has an olive leaf extract in there and then astaxanthin as well. Which is a really powerful antioxidant. It's also what gives flamingos their pink color, fun fact. And this one, oh I didn't really cover the scent profiles. So the Anti-Aging Serum, that one smells a little bit more floral. You can smell the vetiver in it. The Citrus Stem Cell smells more citrusy. And then this one smells more earthy. Some people don't love the way it smells. Some people say it smells like dirt. I personally really like the way it smells. If you really have an aversion to mushrooms, probably don't go with this one. So those are the three in the Signature Collection.
Then we also have a couple of different ones in the Wild Alchemy Collection. So the first one we'll talk about is the Wild Fruit Serum. I just have this little guy here. It's the travel size Wild Fruit Serum. But this one is excellent. It's great for all skin types. I like to refer to this one as our “do it all” serum because it's very all encompassing. It's hydrating, it's brightening, it's got anti-aging properties. This one has copper infused water in it which is kind of a cool, unique ingredient. This one has knotweed extract, which is really rich in resveratrol. This one has apple extract, so it's the same apple extract that's in the Phytonutrient Cleanser, so brightening the look of skin with vitamin C and malic acid. This one has Madonna lily plant cells. So we talked about the plant stem cells that we use. This one has Madonna lily cells. It has a really dense infusion of those plant cells. There's about 1.5 million in each bottle of the Wild Fruit Serum, not this travel size bottle, the full size bottle. What else with this one? It also has kakadu plum extract. So kakadu plum is another really potent source of vitamin C, helping to brighten the look of skin. Kakadu plum also contains phenolic acid. Phenolic acid behaves on the skin similar to an alpha hydroxy acid, which you've probably heard of. Alpha hydroxy acids kind of dissolve the “glue” that holds the top layer of skin cells. So they have an exfoliating effect on the skin. They have a resurfacing, renewing effect. So that is the Wild Fruit Serum. Love this one. And this one, again, smells more fruity. If you're a scent person.
Okay, and then, what else? CBD. Sometimes I talk about the CBD serum, sometimes I don't, just because I feel like we have so many serums. I try not to overwhelm people. But I think I might mention it just because somebody did mention sensitive skin as a concern. So the Activated CBD Serum. This one is kind of like an offshoot of our Wild Alchemy Collection. It's sold in its own little boutique on the site, which is just because of the legality of selling a CBD product. When we created this serum, we wanted to, of course, source the best. So we partnered with Ojai Energetics to source our CBD. They are really a leader and a pioneer in the CBD space. CBD, it's like a little bit hard to say exactly what it does for the skin because it kind of works with your body's natural endocannabinoid system to kind of go where it's needed to go, do what it's needed to do. But I will say it has a very soothing and calming effect if sensitive skin, redness, irritation, any of that is a concern. This one's very hydrating. It's got both the tremella mushroom extract and the hyaluronic acid in it. It's a little bit thicker, richer, creamier texture than some of our other serums are. It smells lovely. I never know what to say it smells like exactly, but it smells lovely. This serum is very antioxidant rich. It's got the astaxanthin. It's got superoxide dismutase. This one has mangosteen oil in it, black cumin seed oil. So that is the Activated CBD Serum. It contains both a water soluble and a fat soluble CBD, which I like to mention just because I feel like it's something that kind of makes it unique and sets it apart from a lot of other CBD products on the market. So the water soluble CBD is absorbed more quickly, it has more of an instant effect, and then the fat soluble CBD is absorbed more slowly over time to have more of a cumulative effect.
Okay, and then let's see. The last serum that we'll talk about is also in the Wild Alchemy Collection, the Activated Night Serum. So this is our most recent serum launch. It's fantastic. This one, it's good for all skin types. This is our alternative to having a retinol product. Retinols are kind of the gold standard in anti-aging but they often don't have great effects. They can be harmful for reproductive health. For your skin health, if you're using it over an extended period of time, it can start to thin the skin which is not what we want as we age. We don't want to thin our skin. We want to have really healthy, resilient skin and support our skin's natural barrier. Also, traditional retinoids are very irritating. A lot of times people with more sensitive skin are not able to use them. So that is why we came out with this product because we wanted to have an alternative that didn't have any of the negative effects of a retinol but had a similar result. So this serum contains our bioactive A-Complex. It's completely safe. It's a Made Safe approved ingredient. It's actually derived from algae. This ingredient is what will have that renewing, resurfacing effect on the skin to help improve texture, tone, etc. This serum is great for signs of aging, brightening the look of skin and it can even be helpful for congestion and the look of enlarged pores. It's a nice combination because you've got that really active bioactive A-Complex but then we've paired it with really soothing and calming ingredients like lavender and blue chamomile. So it's a nice balance in this one and it makes it so that even sensitive skin types usually can use it. Like I was saying, Grace is very sensitive and she still is able to use this serum a couple times a week without any negative side effects. You do want to make sure that if you are using this, you are using it only at night as the name suggests and that you are using it with an SPF during the day because it can make you a little bit more sensitive to the sun. This one also has a thicker texture, like the CBD serum. So it feels very nourishing to the skin.
Okay. Those are serums. Questions about serums. I know there's a lot of them.
Customer: Do I use the serum twice a day? I typically cleanse and use my serum and moisturizer before bed, is that what you would recommend?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, good question. So in general, our recommendation is that you do that four step routine we talked about both morning and evening. So cleanse, tone, serum, oil. But as I was saying earlier I think it's kind of about finding what works best for you, your lifestyle, and your skin. So no, I don't necessarily think that you have to do the full routine all the time. I do recommend that if you're only going to cleanse one time a day it can be best to do it in the evening to remove impurities and debris that may have accumulated during the day. But I think it's totally fine to kind of adjust that recommended routine to what really works best for you.
Hopefully that answers your question. Any other serum questions?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay so, the next step in your routine, oh, should we cover elixirs? do you guys want me to go over the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs? I feel like we've already covered a lot of stuff, so I don't want to confuse people. Yes? Okay, awesome.
So these are the Concentrated Boosting Elixirs, which kind of fall into the serum category. They come in this set of three, though you can purchase the Hydrate on its own in a larger size. The Revitalize you can't purchase it in a larger size, but it is the same activated ingredient as what is in the Activated Night Serum. And then we will eventually be launching the Brighten to be sold on its own as well. But they're sold in the set of three. They come with the Hydrate, the Brighten, and the Revitalize. They have this little dropper top and they're a pretty kind of thin liquid consistency. These are never to be applied directly to the skin. They are very concentrated. They are always to be mixed.
So the way that you use them, we recommend mixing with your serum. If for some reason you're not using a serum, you could mix with your facial oil. I think the reason that we recommend mixing with a serum versus an oil is just that the serum is a smaller molecule. So it's penetrating more deeply. So getting these activated ingredients deeper into the skin. Also, the serum of course sits closer to the skin. So you would pump your serum into the palm of your hand and then you would drop one to three drops of the elixir, mix it, and apply it to the skin. You can kind of mix and match, so you can mix one drop of Hydrate and two drops of Brighten or vice versa. We do recommend that you use the Revitalize Elixir only at night because this does contain our bioactive A-Complex and you should also use this with a sunscreen during the day. So the three, the hydrate, is a hyaluronic acid with vegan collagen pre peptides. So we already talked about hyaluronic acid really deeply hydrating the skin, having that plumping effect. And then the vegan collagen pre peptides are strengthening the skin. The Brighten, this is a pure vitamin C with seabuckthorn. The vitamin C that we use is tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, or THDA which is a mouthful. But the reason that we chose that particular vitamin C, there's a couple different reasons. One is, it's a very stable form of vitamin C, so a lot of vitamin C products out on the market the vitamin C that they use is not stable. And then you open the product and it goes rancid really quickly, and then it's not effective. So the THDA is a very stable form of vitamin C. It's also a very non irritating form of vitamin C. It's a pH of seven, which is the same as water. So even more sensitive skin types can usually use it. And then like I said, it's got the seabuckthorn in there.
And then lastly is the Revitalize, and like I said, this is the bioactive A-Complex, our retinol alternative, with astaxanthin, which is that really powerful antioxidant. Like I said, you can kind of play around with these, you can mix and match, just make sure you use the Revitalize only at night and with an SPF during the day. And you don't want to mix the Brighten and the Revitalize together in the same application. So you wouldn't do like two drops of Brighten and one drop of Revitalize together. You would use one in the morning, one at night kind of thing. And these elixirs, they really are not like a necessary product in your routine. They're just kind of a fun extra product. So if you're kind of a skin care guru, you might be interested in these. They allow you to just really boost the level of activated ingredients in your routine, in your products. And in general, more activated ingredients kind of means more results. They also allow you to kind of customize your routine a little bit more. And they're just kind of fun and unique. I don't feel like, like I said, I've worked with a lot of different product lines and I don't think I've seen any others that have a similar product. But those are the elixirs. Any questions about the elixirs?
All right. So the next step in your routine would be your moisturizer or your facial oil. Again, we have several, of course. So we'll start with our herbal facial oils. In the Signature Collection, we have our herbal facial oils, the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin, the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin, and the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. I don't have that one here. All three of the herbal facial oils are a grapeseed oil base. Grapeseed is a light textured, skin balancing oil. It's quickly absorbed. And then they all just contain an herb blend that's suited to the skin type it's designed for. So, the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin. This one has that black cumin seed oil and the neem in there. I actually really love this one. It has a really nice kind of citrusy scent, if you're a scent person. It can be a nice one too, even if you have a more normal skin type. This can be nice in the summer months, if you tend to be more oily during the summer.
And then the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin. This is a skin balancing oil. This one has got tamanu in it. It's got goji. It's got echinacea.
The Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin, that one has no added essential oils. So it's a great choice for sensitive skin. Sometimes people with sensitive skin can be more sensitive to essential oils. That one has a bunch of different omega rich oils in it. It's got camellia seed oil and sacha inchi oil in there.
And then we have our Anti-Aging Facial Oil. This is the other one in the Signature collection. This one is very popular. Again, one of our best selling products. People love this one. So this is a very nourishing, restorative facial moisturizer that's great for dry and mature skin. This one has a bunch of different seed oils in it. So there's carrot seed oil, broccoli seed oil, chia seed oil. Chia, for example, is rich in vitamin B and zinc. So again, just a really nourishing, restorative facial moisturizer.
And then lastly, in the Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. There's just one oil in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is good for all skin types except for very sensitive skin, I would say. This is our most potent, our most active facial oil. The reason for that is the way that it's made. So, our other facial oils contain more herbs in the herb infusion. And they contain more seed oils and CO2 extracts. This one contains far fewer. So, there's just one herb in it. It's the butterfly pea flower. And then again, there's fewer of the seed oils, etc. And the reason for that is because by including fewer, we were able to include the ones that are in there at higher concentrations, at higher percentages. So it makes it more potent, more active. And this one, let's see, it's got the butterfly pea flower. It's got mongongo oil, so it feels really soft on the skin. It's got baobab oil, which is brightening, antioxidant-rich marula oil. It's got some blue tansy in there. So that's the Rejuvenating OIl. I think those are all the facial oils. Any questions about facial oils?
No? Alright.
Okay so that is your basic four step routine.
So from there, we can do a couple different things. We can move into more products. We still have exfoliants, we have eye care products and we have treatment masks. So we can talk about those things. I can answer more questions if anybody has questions or wants more personalized recommendations, we can do that. How are we feeling?
Let's move into exfoliants so that we can touch on our new Radiant C Mask & Polish.
This is the Radiant C Mask & Polish. So this is our most recent product launch. This is a very versatile product. It's a multitasker, which I personally love. So it's a mask and polish, it can be used as an exfoliant or a treatment mask, or both. so you can use it as an accessory. It can also be mixed with a lot of different things, which is really fun. As an exfoliant, this is both a physical exfoliant and a chemical exfoliant in one, which I love, love, love that. The physical exfoliant in this one, it's a crushed bamboo powder, the bamboo stem powder. So a physical exfoliant is, you know, is physically polishing the skin and then it's got a chemical exfoliant property too from all of the fruit acids and enzymes that are in it. This has hibiscus in it, it's got lemon, it's got strawberry, it's got acerola cherry. So then it has that chemical exfoliating property. And a chemical exfoliant is dissolving that “glue” that holds the top layer of skin cells to have that resurfacing effect, like I mentioned earlier. And it smells amazing. It looks so beautiful. It's like this really pretty kind of pink, fuchsia color from the hibiscus that's in there. And it smells really lovely. Like I was saying, the way that you use it, it's a dry powder so you can just shake it into the palm of your hand and you can mix with a bit of water. You could of course do this in like a little bowl if you wanted to. And mix it up to create a paste and then you can massage it into the skin and just rinse it off if you want to use it just as kind of a basic exfoliant. You can also do that, mix it with water, massage it into the skin and then let it sit for like 15 minutes and then rinse it to use it more as a treatment mask. It can be mixed with your cleanser. So typically you would cleanse first and then you would exfoliate, but you can also just combine that step and mix this right in with your cleanser. It mixes really nicely with the Aloe Herb Cleanser. It mixes really nicely with the Phytonutrient Cleanser as well. If you're using it as a mask, you can mix it with different things too. I love to mix this with honey, particularly Manuka honey. I'm Manuka obsessed, but you could use any honey, any raw honey would be good. You can mix it with yogurt. Our Illuminating Pearl Mask is a very popular treatment mask of ours. It mixes really nicely with this. It will leave your skin just looking very bright and radiant. So this one, it's really good for all skin types. I would say, except for very sensitive, although I don't know, Grace, what's been your experience with this?
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Oh, I love it. Yeah. I mix it with honey and I am obsessed with it. I probably use it too often, more often than I should, but my skin loves it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I know I was going to use it this morning and then I was like, wait, I just used it yesterday. Maybe I shouldn't. I think our recommendation is to use it like three times a week. So you can kind of play around with it and see what feels best for your skin, but typically three times a week should be good.
So let's go ahead and just touch on the other exfoliants as well, since we're here. Also, just to back up a bit, exfoliation in general is really important in a routine. You want to kind of find that happy medium because you don't want to over exfoliate and cause any irritation or inflammation in the skin, but it is important to incorporate some type of exfoliation because if not, a lot of times you get this kind of buildup on the skin and then your treatment products aren't able to be absorbed properly to work effectively. Often people will say, “oh, my skin feels so dry, but I'm using all these moisturizing products. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.” If you're not using any type of exfoliant then that layer of buildup, like I was saying, can kind of prevent those products from being effective. So it is really important. We have a few different options. Also exfoliation can be very helpful too for minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores and addressing congestion, I know that those concerns were mentioned on the surveys for this group.
So in our Signature Collection, we have the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub. This one is a dry powdered exfoliant, so you use it similar to how you use the Radiant C. You just shake it into the palm of your hand, mix it with some water, massage it into the skin, and then rinse. This one again can be mixed with your cleanser. It mixes really nicely with the cream cleansers. If you want to kind of save a step. And it’s very gentle. So even those with really sensitive skin can use this one. Most people could even use it every day if they wanted. And this one has fenugreek in it. It’s got shavegrass and rosemary.
And then the other one in the Signature Collection is our Kaolin Micro Exfoliant. This one here in the tube. This one's very popular. I love this one. And I find I use this one often just because it's really easy to use. It's easy to keep in the shower and use it in the shower. This is a cream exfoliant. So it's a kaolin clay base and then it has the crushed bamboo powder. That's the physical exfoliant in this one. It's got lavender oil in it. So soothing and calming. And then also it has that lavender scent profile, which is really nice. To me this still feels fairly gentle, so most of the time even those with sensitive skin can use it. You can mix it with a cleanser if you want it to be even more gentle. It mixes really nicely with the Aloe Herb Cleanser, because then you get that lemon, lavender scent, which is so lovely. This one most people would use two or three times a week.
And then the other one in our Wild Alchemy Collection is the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant. So this one is a chemical exfoliant. There's no scrub or grit to it. It's just a smooth gel texture. So you use it kind of similar to how you would use a mask. After you cleanse, you would just apply this and leave it on the skin. Leave it on just for two to three minutes to start. You can work your way up to leaving it on for 10 minutes, but we recommend starting with the lesser time to see how your skin does with it. For some people it can feel pretty active, pretty tingly on the skin. It really just depends. To me, I don't feel like I have super sensitive skin and it does feel pretty active when I use it. But also I've had people on the call who say they don't feel anything. So it just depends on your skin. You do want to make sure that you remove this one thoroughly. You want to make sure that you're using it only in the evening and with an SPF during the day. That's the resurfacing facial exfoliant. And this one, most people, you would just want to use this once a week.
You can kind of mix and match, you know, like some people want to incorporate both the physical and the chemical exfoliants into their routine, which you can do all at once with the new Radiant C, but prior to that you could not. So you could maybe use the Kaolin once a week, and then maybe you want to use the Resurfacing Exfoliant once a week. You can kind of mix and match and see what works best for your skin. But those are the exfoliants. Also, because when you are exfoliating, especially with a chemical exfoliant you want to be sure to protect your skin I will mention our sunscreen.
Our Sun Love Everyday Sheer Sunscreen is an SPF 20. It is a non-nano zinc oxide. It is reef safe. It's a broad spectrum, so UVA and UVB protection. Trying to think what else with this one. It's got a pumpkin seed oil and buriti fruit oil in it, so it feels pretty nourishing. It's kind of just personal preference if you want to use it on its own as your daytime moisturizer, or if you want to use it over top of a facial oil. Sometimes if I'm using it over a facial oil, I like to use a lighter oil, like the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily. But again, that's all just personal preference.
And then let's go ahead and touch on the two eye products really quickly, just because I know somebody had mentioned the eye area as a concern in their survey. We have two eye products, the Anti-Aging Eye Cream and the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum. Both are excellent. I tend to recommend that if you're going to choose just one or the other, I personally really like the eye cream. For me, I feel like my eye area is always really dry and this one just feels very nourishing to me. It's got damas rose plant cells in there, it's got cucumber, so it's nice and cooling.
And then the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, this one is like a true serum consistency, so it's that thinner consistency. Like I said, they're both great. If your eye area is your main concern, then you might want to use both. And if you were going to use both, you could do it two ways. You could layer them, so you could layer the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum with the Anti Aging Eye Cream on top, or you could alternate them and use the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum in the morning and the Anti Aging Eye Cream at night. And with the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, I do like to always tell people to make sure that you're just using a really little bit of this one. It is very concentrated and sometimes if you overuse it, it just doesn't apply nicely. It doesn't sit nicely on the skin. So just a little tip with that one. But this one has pineapple ceramides, it's got sake peptides. Those sake peptides can be helpful for retexturizing the under eye area to help with the look of darkness under the eye. So that can be a good one if dark circles are your main concern. So those are the two eye products that we've got.
And I think that covers pretty much everything. The only other thing we didn't really cover was body products, of course, and then treatment masks. We do have a few different treatment masks. I did mention the Illuminating Pearl Mask. This one is definitely a favorite. People love this one. The team also loves this one. This is great for all skin types. It's a hydrating, brightening treatment mask. You really can't overdo it with this one. You could use it every day if you wanted to, and it's not going to hurt. You could leave it on for two hours and it's not going to hurt. This one's got honey in it. So the mountain wildflower honey is acting as a humectant to draw moisture to the skin. It's got licorice root and uva ursi, which are those two lightening and brightening ingredients that we talked about with the Citrus Stem Cell Serum. And then it's got a crushed pearl powder as well, which is a really kind of cool, unique ingredient. It gives it like this really nice kind of luminosity and radiance that it imparts on the skin. It's kind of like this creamy jelly texture. It feels really nice and cool on the skin, so I love this one in the morning when my skin is kind of tired and puffy. You can also, if you're not sensitive in that area, you could use it as a little under eye mask in the morning.
Then we have the Charcoal Cacao. This is a very antioxidant rich mask with the cacao and the turmeric. It's also deeply purifying with the activated coconut charcoal.
The Purifying Mud Mask. I actually love this one. It can be a great option to include in a routine to address the look of enlarged pores and congestion. There's a few different ways you can use this. This is a dry powder and you can just mix it with water if you want to. If you're just mixing it with water, I would probably stick to using it like once a week unless you're extremely oily. I personally love to mix this with honey. Again, I'm obsessed with Manuka honey, so I use Manuka honey, UMF 15. Mixing it with honey is great because then you've got the humectant properties of the honey, so it's not drying out your skin at all. But then also the purifying properties of the mud. So that is one of my favorite combos.
And then the other mask we have is the Coconut Honey Mask. I don't have that one here. But that one's great especially in the winter months. If you have very dry skin or kind of more sensitive, dry skin, that can be a good option. It's like this really thick, rich balmy texture. And it's a pretty simple formula. But that's the coconut honey.
Okay, so those are all of the products, all of the facial products. So what questions do you guys have? We still have about 10 minutes left on the call.
Customer: What is the shelf life of your products?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: All of our products actually have the expiration date printed on the bottom of the packaging. It's this kind of yellow color and that is the expiration date, whether the product has been opened or not. Usually the expiration date is pretty far out, like a couple of years. Like this one is 7 of ‘27. But it just kind of depends on the product. If you want to, you can keep products in the fridge to extend the shelf life, like if you are stocking up during a sale or something like that. You absolutely don't have to do that, but I know some people do like to.
Great question. Any other questions?
No? Come on, you guys.
Customer: If you were going to pick three things, what would be your top picks?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Three things, like types of products or three specific products? Tell me a little bit about your skin.
Customer: Sure. My concerns are mainly aging and sensitive skin.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. Three products. Aloe Herb Cleanser, Botanical Hydration Mist, and the Radiate Facial Oil.
Then when you are ready to add more I would add a serum. So I think the Activated CBD Serum could be an awesome choice because it's great for sensitive skin and also addresses signs of aging. The Probiotic Serum is great too, but I feel like the Activated CBD is going to have more in it to address those signs of aging.
Customer: And which one is the one with the hyaluronic acid?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Well, several of our products actually contain hyaluronic acid the Activated CBD Serum does.
Good questions. Yay for questions. Anything else? Any other questions?
No? Ok well we will go ahead and wrap up then. If you think of other questions, you can also email us at [email protected]
Thank you guys so much for hanging out and listening to me ramble on about skin care products for an hour and a half. I hope that you learned something. Hopefully everybody has an awesome afternoon.
Customer: Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You're welcome. Bye everyone.
