Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: And then we can kind of jump into the line and questions and all of that fun stuff. So we have a pretty broad range of products. We have a lot of products in the line, which you probably already know. So sometimes, for people, especially if they're new to skin care or to the line, that can feel a little overwhelming. We have within the line a few different collections. We have two main collections. The two main collections that we've got are the Signature Collection. So all of the Signature Collection products have this tan labeling. These products are like a lot of our best selling products. A lot of these products have been around since we first got started. The other collection that we've got, the other main collection, is the Wild Alchemy Collection. So all of those products have the black and gold labeling. This collection is our luxury collection. What makes it our luxury collection is just that the products in this collection contain higher levels of activated ingredients. Things like our bioactive A complex, which is our retinol alternative, and our pure vitamin C, our THDA, those types of ingredients. And then they also contain more exotic ingredients, so these more like globally sourced ingredients. Things like baobab oil and Mongongo oil. So that's kind of what sets that collection apart.

And then we also have some other, like smaller collections, which we might touch on. But we'll just kind of start with those two main ones and then see where things take us. I'm trying to think of what else, if there's anything else we want to cover. The routine that we recommend is a basic four step routine. This is our general recommendation, just kind of for everybody, that you would do both morning and evening. And that routine consists of cleansing, toning, using a serum, and then a moisturizer or a facial oil. So that's the general recommendation. I always tell people, you know, it's best to just kind of customize your routine as much as you can. Find what works best for your skin, what works best for your lifestyle. You know, maybe you're somebody who's completely new to skin care and you have no routine right now, and so maybe it feels like a lot to do four steps morning and night and that's totally fine. You could start out with just two steps. You could start with the cleanser and the facial oil, and then you could kind of build from there. So just kind of customizing it to fit what works best for you.
Okay, so from there, is there anybody who wants to share a little bit about why they joined, what they're looking to learn, questions that you might have, anything like that? And you can raise a hand, you can come off mute, I'm trying to look through so I don't miss anybody. Amber?
Customer: Hi, so I have, like no routine. I wash my face with honey and use baking soda as an exfoliant because I cannot do any synthetic fragrance, no fake stuff at all, I react very badly, my body just like shuts down, and I feel like I'm crawling out of my skin, so when Kris Carr suggested this, I got a sample kit, like, during the pandemic, but I was in a bad relationship and hiding purchases.
And so by the time I got to take it out and try it, I left that relationship, thank you very much. It had gone rancid, but some of the product was still is okay. And it passes my test where my body isn't like rejecting it. And again, I haven't really had a program or anything. And I now live in the desert and my skin is a lot drier and I also am that weirdo with the umbrella year round. That's another way that I have maintained healthier skin is that I protect myself year round and I live in Colorado where we have a lot of sun. I've lived here for decades and I'm always with the umbrella and my skin up until recently has looked like 10 years younger than I actually am. Like most people are like, wow, you don't seem like you're in your late forties, you seem like you’re in your early 30s, but just lately I'm getting a lot of stress and like the dry skin and the wrinkles so I'm just really excited about learning more and finding things that work for me.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, awesome. Well, thank you for sharing. I actually am a huge fan of honey cleansing. I mean, obviously I use all of our products, but I still will use honey occasionally, especially if my skin is feeling out of balance. So if anybody is interested in that, if you have sensitive skin or if your skin is feeling out of balance, it can be a good option. And you can just use raw honey. I always use Manuka honey. If you do Manuka honey, I get a UMF. 15. And so if you're wanting to do that, you just dampen your skin and then apply the honey. It sounds like it'd be really sticky and messy, but it's actually not. You also can use it as a treatment mask, leaving it on for longer. But yeah, I love honey cleansing, so that's awesome. And that's great that some of the products that you tried worked well for your skin, with you being so sensitive to most products. So that trial kit that you got, the Clean Beauty Trial, is a really popular one that people start out with. It comes with the Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Anti-Aging Serum, and the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. So those are three of our most popular, best-selling products. The Aloe Herb Cleanser would probably be a great choice for you if you're wanting to incorporate a cleanser. Like, aside from the honey. Grace actually has extremely sensitive skin and that's always her go-to cleanser. It’s of course, an aloe vera base. Aloe is rich in vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and enzymes, all of these things that are nourishing the skin. There's some lemon essential oil, which is purifying and brightening. There's some calendula, which can help to alleviate any temporary redness in the skin, coconut oil gives it that nice creamy texture. A lot of times I tell people if you're feeling confused or overwhelmed or you don't know where to start, to choose the Aloe Herb because it's one that you just kind of can't go wrong with.
And then that Anti-Aging Serum– that one is our best-selling serum. And it's kind of similar to the Aloe Herb, in that I tend to recommend it if people aren't sure what to choose because, in general, it's usually a good choice for just about anybody. It's a very deeply hydrating serum. It's got a non-GMO, vegetable-sourced hyaluronic acid in it. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. So really deeply hydrating the skin is going to help to kind of plump the skin, which will help to minimize the appearance of fine lines, of course. And then it's just very antioxidant-rich as well. It's got buddleja extract and life everlasting flowers in it. There's some rose in there as well, which is soothing and nurturing. The scent profile: I try to mention the scent profile for each product when chatting about them, just because I am a scent person, so it can be helpful to know if you are too. So the Aloe Herb Cleanser that one smells lovely. It's got that citrusy scent from the lemon. The Anti-Aging Serum is very floral and then very vetiver-heavy as well. But yeah, that can be a great choice, as I said, for just about anyone. I often refer to it as a daily dose of skin nutrition.
The Probiotic Serum With Tremella could also be a potential option for you. That's one that I often will recommend for sensitive skin or out-of-balance skin. The only thing with that one is that the scent profile is very different than the anti-aging serum. Like I said, anti-aging is that floral and vetiver scent profile, whereas the probiotic is very earthy smelling. Some people don't like the way it smells. Some people say it smells like dirt. I think it smells nice.
Customer: I don't mind if it smells like dirt. That's fine. One of my favorite herbs is osha root, and it tastes like mud when you drink it. So, it's fine.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, perfect. Yeah, that one can be really nice. It's got the tremella mushroom extract in there. So that acts kind of similar to the hyaluronic acid, very deeply hydrating the skin. And then the probiotic ferment can help to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin. It can help to balance the skin's pH. So that's another nice option that I'll recommend sometimes for more sensitive skin types.
And then the Anti-Aging Facial Oil, that's the oil, the moisturizer that comes in the trial kit. It's very, very tiny in the trial kit. But that one again, a very popular choice. Again, the scent profile is very similar to the Anti-Aging Serum with the floral and the vetiver. So that one is a very nourishing, restorative facial moisturizer for dry and mature skin. It's a jojoba oil base. So, as a company, we recommend jojoba for dry and mature skin. Jojoba very closely mimics the texture of your skin's natural sebum. I personally love jojoba oil, and I recommend it for all skin types, I think it's a great option. But that one is very nourishing, very moisturizing. It’s got some goji in there. It’s very antioxidant rich. I’m trying to think what else is in that one. I feel like my mind is blanking for some reason. I think there's plantago in it. But that's a very popular choice. So those are the products in the Clean Beauty Trial Kit.

Customer: This is actually really helpful because as someone who's completely new to skin care, it can be really overwhelming, and there can be a lot of judgment and you're creating a really nice space, so I just want to acknowledge that.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, good. That’s so nice to hear. It can definitely be overwhelming if you're new to it. And like I said, you know, you can always start really small and just build from there. I would say the most basic, most pared down routine that you would want to start with would be a cleanser and facial oil. You kind of need at least those two things to get started.
You could always incorporate a toning mist as well, of course. So we have a few different ones. Let's maybe, does anybody else want to share? I just want to see what other concerns we have before I continue, so that I know which products to focus on.
Customer: Okay. I am new to a lot, I don't wear a lot of makeup. Just lipstick and eyebrow pencil. I've used soap on my face all my life. And now I'm getting some glands that have been, a lot of them are plugged because I didn't take care of them well. My face care, soaping, when we lived in our barn for a couple summers. And this was about eight years ago. And now I'm getting some light therapy work done for my eyelids. The thing is, they handed me this kit of chemicals. Now, how do I properly cleanse the eyelids? Also, how long is makeup good for? I use eyebrow powder by Labella Donna, and it lasts me for a year or year and a half. How long are they good for? My daughter and I went to Hippocrates Health Institute years ago, and so we're highly aware of our intake of food and trying to live cleaner. So it's come down to the makeup and face care, skin care. I'm in my early 70s. I can't believe I'm learning this now, but better late than never. So I got your cleanser, and I just got the hair serum. It's in that little pot. Which has helped a lot because the gray hair wants to fly. So, my main concern is how to properly cleanse the face and the eyelids. I just use a honey moisturizer. I also use two products from Kauai Pharmacy. It's a healing balm and a natto salve. And it's got vitamin E in it. But I don't have a decent cleanser.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, got it. Well, first of all, that's really cool that you went to Hippocrates. I actually found Annmarie Skin Care years and years ago through Kris Carr as well because my mom had cancer and I wanted her to go to Hippocrates. We looked into it a few times, but she never went.
Customer: Yes, it is. It's life-changing.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, that's really awesome. Anyways, did you get the Aloe Herb Cleanser? Do you know which cleanser you got?
Customer: Yeah, it's the aloe herb. So we also live on a farm here in Ohio, and we use a wood stove.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, funny. I’m from Ohio.
Customer: Columbus?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah.
Customer: Really? That's where I'm originally from. Upper Arlington, Sawmill, and Henderson Road area.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Small world. I’m from the Dublin area.
Customer: Can I ask where you went to high school?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I went to Scioto.
Customer: One of our girls went to Scioto.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh my God. How funny. Wow.
Customer: But we're up here now, and we use a wood stove a lot for heat and my skin, like the other gal that Amber was mentioning, my skin is really dry and itchy.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay, got it. And you wear just the brow powder? You don't wear mascara or eyeshadow?
Customer: No, just the brow powder. I’ve had so many eye issues.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. Yeah, I mean, I feel like if you're not wearing makeup, like mascara or eye shadow, you shouldn't necessarily have to, like, cleanse over your lids with your cleanser. So typically, if I'm going to just use, like, the Aloe Herb Cleanser or something, and I don't have makeup on, as I cleanse, you know, I go around my eyes, but I don't really go over my eyes. If I'm wearing makeup, like eye makeup, like mascara, then I'll use the Restorative Cleansing Oil. That's what I'll use to cleanse over my eyes to remove the mascara.
I'm not sure, Grace, are you still here? Do you ever use the Aloe Herb like on your lids?
Grace Murray-Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: I’m here. I just moved to a different part of my house, but I'm here. I do, actually, because I, I am proud to say this, but I really don't wear makeup, like, really at all anymore, because I just love my skin. Love that. But on the days when I do, I will do the same thing. I'll usually fill my brows or wear a tiny bit of mascara. But I will go in with the Aloe Herb on my eyelids and just get on in there and I am not careful with it, I probably should say I am, but I'm not, and I get it in my eyes all the time, and it's fine. I'm not telling you to do that. I'm just saying it's totally fine to have on your eyelids. I do it frequently.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You're hilarious, Okay so apparently, yes, it should be fine to take your Aloe Herb Cleanser over your lids and lashes. I don't think, like, if you're not wearing any mascara or any eyeshadow, I don't think you should have to do that, but if you want to, you could.
Customer: How about the powder? That's all I've used for my eyebrows, I just brush it in every day. I'm thinking with powder that little bits may fall down and get on the lashes and cause irritation. I mean, is it good just indefinitely or should it be changed out? I'm thinking of bacteria near the eyes and eyelids.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, it's not good indefinitely. It really depends on each product. I would imagine that whatever makeup you're using should have an expiration date, or sometimes they have that little image of the jar that's open that says 12 months, six months, whatever it is. So I would definitely check the date on your makeup. Because that can cause irritation if it's expired or something and it's getting into your eyes. I mean I would imagine that it should last in general maybe a year. But like I said, every product is different so I would check the product.
Customer: You all used to sell those little pots of powder. Do you still sell something like that? I've looked on your site and I didn't see that anymore.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: We used to have our own mineral makeup and we don't anymore. So now in our Favorite Brands Marketplace on our website we sell products that are not our products, but they're products that we recommend. We do have the Au Naturale Mineral Powder, it's their mineral makeup, so that is what we recommend. We do also, Grace could probably put in the chat the blog post, we had a live shopping event for makeup and we found brands that we recommended for each type of makeup product, like the cleanest lipstick that we loved and the best mascara. So Grace will link to the blog where you can find all of those recommendations. I don't remember what we recommended for a brow powder, but I'm sure there's probably something in there about brow powder.
Customer: Okay. Great. I will check that out. And so aside from that my concern is just dry skin and thin skin.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Okay. So, first of all, I wouldn't recommend cleansing with bar soap. You want to choose a pH-balanced cleanser that will cleanse without stripping the skin or disrupting the skin's natural protective barrier, your acid mantle. All of our cleansers are pH-balanced. They're pH is between 5.5 and 5.6, and the surfactant that we use is a sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate, which is a safe, low-foaming surfactant. It's just saponified oils and plant starches and sugars.
Also, as far as addressing loss of elasticity, in general, I would recommend choosing products that have more of those activated ingredients, so something like our Activated Night Serum, which contains our bioactive A Complex, our retinol alternative. Retinol, you've probably heard of before. It's a very common, popular anti-aging ingredient in conventional skin care products, but vitamin A derivatives in general, they just aren't great for your health. They can be harmful to reproductive health. Our COO was pregnant when she was formulating this. And they can be harmful to skin health. If you're using a traditional retin A or something like that over an extended period of time, it can start to thin the skin. And again, we don't want to thin the skin. We want to support our skin's natural barrier. So that's why we created this product. The bioactive A-Complex is going to give you a similar result to a traditional retinol, but it’s a completely safe ingredient. It’s a Made Safe approved ingredient. It's derived from algae. And then also, it’s this nice rich, creamy texture. It feels very nourishing, very hydrating. So that would be something I would recommend if you're looking for products to help with elasticity or somebody else had mentioned deep lines and wrinkles as a concern. Something like this is going to be really helpful for addressing those types of concerns. Also, typically, people with very sensitive skin often cannot use retinols. This product, even those with sensitive skin, usually can use. Like I said, Grace has extremely sensitive skin, and she still is able to use this. But I recommend kind of playing around with it to just see, like, what feels best for your skin. Grace doesn't use this every night. She uses it every other night or every third night, right? Yeah. So you can kind of play around with it just to see what feels good for you.
And then as far as the dryness. I mean, I live in Tahoe, like I said, so it's super dry here as well. Again, those nourishing products like that Aloe Herb Cleanser that's perfect. The Anti-Aging Facial Oil that we talked about earlier that comes in the Clean Beauty Trial Kit that Amber has, that one is another great choice for dry and mature skin. Like I said, it's that jojoba oil base. And then it could be helpful to add in some hydration.
So that facial oil is going to be your moisturizer. There's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is skin that's lacking water, and then dry skin, which is skin that's lacking oil. Most people have a combination of both. They have a little bit of dryness, a little bit of dehydration. So we recommend a combination of hydrating and moisturizing products. So your moisturizer is your facial oil, like that Anti-Aging Facial Oil. Your hydrators are your toning mist and your serum.
So that could be another thing that might be helpful is incorporating a hydrator if you're not already.
Customer: Got it. Thank you.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Of course. Did you have a question, Gail?
Customer: Yes, I do. And some of it is connected to some of the things that Sue had mentioned as a concern. I am currently using your products. I'm using the Signature Collection, the cleanser and the serum. I still have some dryness, though. And maybe some need for exfoliating more. And the other thing is, as I have matured, I have these deeper lines here around my chin and I just wondered if anything that can help move those out?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, so for the lines, like we already talked about, this Activated Night Serum is such a great option with that bioactive A-Complex. It is fantastic for addressing that concern. Another thing that could be helpful is gua sha. We have our Black Nephrite Gua Sha tool. So you could incorporate some gua sha into your routine. And you can find really intricate routines and spend 40 minutes doing your gua sha routine or you can keep it really simple and do it for just 5 minutes a day. And essentially, you're just moving the stone across your face. This can help improve blood flow, and it can also be helpful for lifting and toning facial muscles.

And then as far as the dryness. So you are using the Aloe Herb Cleanser, Anti-Aging Serum, Anti-Aging Facial Oil, is that right? Are you using a toning mist as well?
Customer: Yes, those four.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Perfect. Yeah, so the toning mist can be helpful because it can help with absorption. Your skin is kind of like a sponge, so it's going to absorb better when your skin is damp. So after your cleansing, then you want to mist your toning mist, and this is not what it says on the packaging, but while your skin is still damp from the toning mist, that's when I would apply my serum. And then my oil. So that can be helpful. And then something else you already mentioned that can be helpful is exfoliation. So if you are using all of these really hydrating, moisturizing products, but your skin is still feeling dry, it could be that you're not exfoliating. And exfoliation is kind of a fine line. You know, you want to make sure that you're incorporating some type of exfoliation, but we don't want to over exfoliate because we don't want to cause any irritation or inflammation. So we have a few different exfoliants in the line. We can talk about each of them. But basically exfoliation is going to help to refine skin's texture. It's going to help to treat and prevent congestion in the skin. And if you don't incorporate any type of exfoliation, sometimes you'll get this layer of buildup on the skin and then your treatment products, your hydrators, your moisturizers, they're not able to penetrate deeply to really work effectively. So that definitely can be something to think about incorporating.
As I said, we have several different ones. The first one we can talk about is the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, this cute little guy right here. So this one is very, very gentle. It's in the Signature Collection. It can be used for pretty much any skin type, even very sensitive skin types usually can use this with no issue. It's a dry powder. It's essentially like a tea. So it's a dry powder. Fenugreek is the exfoliating component; that's what gives it its grit. So it's this very fine grit. But so this one, like I said, great for all skin types, even very sensitive skin. It's a dry powder, so you just shake a bit into the palm of your hand. You can mix some water, like and then you're going to take it, drop some water in there, mix it up, buff it into the skin, and then rinse clean. This would be after you cleanse. You also can just mix it right into your cleanser, which is how I like to use it when I use it. Just shake a little bit into your Aloe Herb Cleanser, or say you're using the Phytonutrient Cleanser or something. Just shake a little bit in there. And then you're kind of you know, multitasking, you're cleansing and exfoliating all at once, which I think is so nice. So that can be a great option. It's very, very gentle. So if you wanted to, most people could even use that like every day, if you just liked how it felt in your cleanser or something like that. Or you could always incorporate it, you know, like three times a week or something like that. I'm trying to think what else is in this one. There's the fenugreek. I think there's horsetail in this one. It's very mineral rich. So anything that's mineral rich is going to be purifying to the skin and helping to increase resilience. So that can be a good option.
Another option is our Kaolin Micro Exfoliant. So these two are both strictly physical exfoliants, the Ayurvedic and the Kaolin. It's just that scrubby, gritty texture that is physically polishing the skin. The Kaolin is a cream exfoliating scrub. This is very popular. People love this one. Oh shoot, this one's not open. I have like 10 of these. I guess I can open it, so that you can see. It's a cream exfoliating scrub. This is a kaolin clay base. So any kind of clay is going to be very purifying, very mineral rich. And then this one has a crushed bamboo powder. It's a bamboo stem powder. That is the exfoliating property in this one. The grit is still pretty mild here. It doesn't feel overly abrasive or anything. So, if you're more sensitive, most of the time you can still use this. Grace, I know, uses this one regularly. And like I said, she's our sensitive skin poster child. This one also can be mixed. It mixes really nicely with the Aloe Herb Cleanser. This one smells like lavender. So when you mix it with the Aloe Herb Cleanser, it just smells like a dream. And this one usually, you can use it maybe 3 times a week, just depending on your skin type, but that's another option.
And then let's see, we have the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant. This one is strictly chemical. So like I said, the other two are strictly physical. It's just that scrubby gritty texture polishing the skin. This one is a smooth gel texture. There's no scrub or grit to it. You apply it like a mask. So after you cleanse the skin, you just apply this. You leave it on, to start, for just two or three minutes. And then you rinse it to remove it. You can work your way up to leaving it on for like 10 minutes. It just depends on your skin and how sensitive you are. I feel like this one really varies, some people say they use it and they don't feel anything other people say they use it and they feel like quite a bit of tingle. I don't feel like I have sensitive skin at all and I do feel tingling when I use this. The exfoliating ingredient in this is a honey derived lactic acid. Lactic acid is a very mild alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acids, they kind of dissolve the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. So they have that like resurfacing, renewing, exfoliating effect on the skin. This one you would only use once a week. For most people. I had somebody on the call last week who said she was using it every day. I was like, whoa, girl, take it down a notch. Most people, just once a week is plenty with that one.
Did we have another question?
Customer: If you had sensitive skin, would that be one you would not use?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, it probably wouldn't be my first choice for sensitive skin, but if you were wanting a chemical exfoliant you could give it a try, leave it on for the lesser amount of time and see how your skin does with it.
Grace, have you ever tried it? I feel like I know you don't use it regularly.
Grace Murray-Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: I don't use it regularly because it's just, like, a little too much for my skin. And I just prefer a physical exfoliant. I mix my kaolin with my aloe herb in the mornings, not every day, but usually when I shower and I just love that too much that I can't cheat on it. So that's just my routine.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That is such a nice combo. The last one that we have, is the Radiant C Mask & Polish. This one is another great option. I love this. I love it for a lot of reasons, but it's both a chemical exfoliant and a physical exfoliant. So this one is also a dry powder like the Ayurvedic. It's like this beautiful fuchsia color from the hibiscus that's in here. I feel like this one should get, like, the prettiest skin care product award, because I think it's so beautiful. But so it's a chemical exfoliant because of the alpha hydroxy acids that are in the hibiscus. And then the physical exfoliant in here is the bamboo stem powder. So it's the same physical exfoliant that's in the kaolin. But again, it's like a very fine, fine grit. And so this one, again, you just mix it with a bit of water, and then you can just massage it in after you cleanse or you can mix it in with your cleanser.
This one can be used as a treatment mask as well. So it's kind of a fun product because it's such a multitasker. It’s a physical exfoliant. It's a chemical exfoliant. You can use it as an exfoliant. You can use it as a treatment mask. It just does all the things, which I think is so great. If you want to use it like a mask, you could just mix it with water, apply it, leave it on for like 15 minutes, and rinse it clean. You can also mix it with honey. I love to mix it with Manuka honey. That's a great way to do it. You can mix it with your cleanser. You can mix it with our pearl mask, our Illuminating Pearl Mask, which is a popular hydrating, brightening treatment mask.
This is very rich in vitamin C. It's great for brightening the look of skin, brightening the look of dark spots. It's got lemon peel powder and acerola cherry and strawberry and all of these really beautiful fruit extracts. So that is the Radiant C and this one you would use maybe like three times a week just kind of depending on your skin.
But anyways, those are the exfoliants. So it can be helpful to incorporate some type of exfoliation into your routine if you're using hydrating, moisturizing products and you're still experiencing that dryness or flakiness. Again, you just want to be cautious not to overdo it. You know, just kind of start out slow and then build from there, gauge how your skin is feeling. You know, usually you can feel if you're experiencing irritation at all, then, you know, take it down a notch. But that can be really helpful.
Okay, perfect. Other questions? Does that feel good with exfoliants?
Customer: What's the difference between the Activated CBD Serum and the Wild Fruit Serum?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Both of these serums are excellent. I would say they are both very over-arching all-encompassing serums in that they are helpful for a variety of skin concerns.
The Activated CBD Serum, this one, It's in our Wild Alchemy Collection. It's kind of like an offshoot of our Wild Alchemy collection. It's sold in its own little boutique on our site. Which is just because of the legality of selling a CBD product. So this is great for all skin types. It's especially good for sensitive skin. So this could be another option, Amber. I wasn't sure if I was going to touch on this because I just try not to overwhelm people, but this can be another good option for more sensitive skin types. This is one of Grace's favorite products. So the CBD it's kind of hard to say exactly what CBD does for the skin because it kind of works with your body's natural endocannabinoid system to go where it needs to go and do what it needs to do. But essentially, it's very good, like I said, for sensitivity. So soothing any kind of temporary redness or irritation in the skin. And then this one is very hydrating. It's got both tremella mushroom extract and hyaluronic acid in it. So very hydrating again, it's that kind of thicker, richer, creamier texture than some of our other serums. It feels very nourishing, very hydrating. And then it has a bunch of really potent antioxidants in it as well. There’s superoxide dismutase and astaxanthin. Its got mangosteen oil and black cumin seed oil. So this one is excellent. It smells lovely. I never really know how to say that it smells, but it's just like light and lovely.
And then the Wild Fruit Serum is also excellent. This is my personal favorite. It’s good for all skin types. I like to refer to it as our “do it all” serum. It's very hydrating, it's brightening, it's anti-aging, it does all the things. This one has apple extract in it. So the apple extract is rich in vitamin C and malic acid, which is helpful for brightening the look of skin. This one has a copper infused water. It's got knotweed extract, which is rich in resveratrol. It's got kakadu plum. This is something that kind of sets this one apart for me a little bit. The kakadu plum is rich in phenolic acid, and phenolic acid behaves on the skin similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. We already talked about alpha hydroxy acids. They're kind of dissolving that glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. So having a resurfacing, exfoliating effect on the skin. So that's something for me that kind of sets this one apart. And then this one also has a really dense infusion of plant cells in it. We use Madonna lily plant cells in this one. So we use plant stem cells in our products. You'll find stem cells in a lot of different skin care products. And a lot of times they're derived from animals or even humans. Ours are derived from plants. And so like in our Citrus Stem Cell Serum, there are citrus derived stem cells. In the Wild Fruit Serum its the Madonna lily plant stem cells. And there's a really dense infusion of those in here. There's 1.5 million active plant stem cells in each bottle. And those stem cells, they're providing proteins and peptides and amino acids and all these things that are really just strengthening the skin.
Hopefully that helps. Really, both are excellent options.
Good questions, you guys. Anybody else have questions?
Customer: I have a question about moisturizer or facial oil, but not both. You don't use both because I'm replacing a skin care line I've used for many years. I've used lots of things, a serum and a moisturizer, an eye serum and an eye moisturizer, a cleanser and a toner and all of those things. So that's my question because it seems like, in your line, the moisturizer and the facial oil are interchangeable.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Right. So all of our facial moisturizers are oils. And the reason that we have chosen oils is just that oils are more pure. They don't require any fillers or waxes to be used. Your skin's natural form of moisture is oil, so it's readily absorbed by the skin. I always kind of give the example of, you go to a drug store or department store or whatever, and you pick up something like a moisturizing cream or lotion, oftentimes the first ingredient or one of the first ingredients is water. So this isn't great for a couple of reasons because usually ingredients are listed by level of concentration. So a lot of times water is the first ingredient and then whatever activated ingredient or ingredient they want you to be looking at, that they are marketing is at the bottom of the list. So there's hardly any of it in there. So if your product is mostly water, then it's not doing that much for you. But also if the product contains water, then they have to include more preservatives because bacteria can grow in it more quickly. So with pure oil, you don't have that issue. So you really shouldn't need both. Using just an oil should be sufficient especially if you're using it in combination with the hydrators, the toner and the serum. And if you are using all three, the toner, serum, and oil and still feeling dry, then I would try incorporating exfoliation like we discussed earlier.
Customer: What toner do you recommend? I'm currently using the Phytonutrient Cleanser, Wild Fruit Serum, and Rejuvenating Facial Oil.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Great. You've got all the good stuff. We have three toning mists. You could probably choose between the Neroli Toning Mist or the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle and be happy with either. The Neroli is very popular, people love it. It's a very simple formula. It's an aloe vera juice base, and then it has the neroli essential oil. Neroli is derived from fresh orange blossoms, so it smells really lovely, so I think that's part of why it's so popular. It has that sweeter scent profile and then the aspen bark extract, so that acts as a natural preservative and is also a natural source of salicins.

The Botanical Hydration Mist, that one, the scent profile is very different, so good to know if you're a scent person. The scent profile is much more herbal. This one, good for all skin types, it's especially good for sensitive skin. It's got a blend of four different types of chamomile in there. There's also some rose in it, so soothing and nurturing. And then also more of those like anti-aging type ingredients. It's got the Immortelle, which is a really potent antioxidant. It's got frankincense, which is known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate. But essentially, I think you could probably use either of those and be happy.
I mean, Grace loves the Botanical. That's her other holy grail product. I personally am more breakout prone, so I'm a rosemary girl. Our Rosemary Toning Mist is more purifying.
Customer: Okay. Great. Last question, is there an eye makeup remover? A replacement for eye makeup remover?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So like we talked about earlier, you could use the Aloe Herb Cleanser to remove eye makeup. Personally, if I wear any kind of makeup I use the Restorative Cleansing Oil to remove it.
The Restorative Cleansing Oil, as the name suggests, is an oil cleanser. I am a huge fan of oil cleansing, I love it. So this one you use a little bit differently than the other cleansers. All of our other cleansers you use in kind of the traditional way. You dampen your skin, you massage your cleanser into your skin, you rinse clean, mist your toning mist. You know, so on and so forth. This one you apply to dry skin with dry hands. So when I use it, I pump, I don't know, I'm probably using too much, but I feel like I use quite a bit of it because you want to have that slip. So I tend to use quite a bit of it and then really massage it in. Oil cleansing, in general, is great for all skin types. For dry and mature skin, it feels very nourishing because it is an oil. But even for somebody who's concerned with things like congestion, it can be helpful too. Because like attracts like, so the oil is binding to oil based impurities in the skin to help to remove them. It does leave a bit of an oil on the skin after using it, especially if you are just rinsing to remove it. Some people like to remove this one with a warm towel or you can use it as the first step in a double cleanse routine. If you want to do that, you just would apply with dry hands to dry skin, massage it in, rinse it clean, and then apply your Phytonutrient Cleanser or Aloe Herb or whatever cleanser you're using, massage it in and rinse clean. It’s really lovely for removing eye makeup. I massage it right over my eyes and on my lashes if I am removing mascara. It's also really nice to use this one before you shower, massage it into the skin and leave it on for a bit while you shower before rinsing. It feels so nice. So I'm a big fan of this one. It’s a jojoba oil base and then it has manuka oil in it, which is very deep cleansing and calming. There is also some purifying tea tree oil in it.
What else? Do you guys have any other questions?
Customer: Do you have soap for the body? Like arms and legs? Everything's just so dry with the winter.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes. We do have one. We have our Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body Wash. And then we do have a full line of body products. So we've got our body oils. Our Coconut Body Oil is really popular. We also have the Divine Woods Body Oil. So that one obviously has a more woodsy scent profile. The body oils, I just keep mine in the shower because if they get too cool, they'll solidify. And if they do, then we just recommend putting them in a bowl of hot water and then like, shaking it up. But I just keep mine in the shower and then it's fine and I just apply it right after I shower. So we have the body oils, which are really nice. We have the Radiant Skin Silk Body Lotion. So that's our body lotion. That one is very popular. A lot of people like to use that, even on their neck and decollete. And then we also have the palo santo, the Palo Santo Body Butter. So that's obviously a more thick, rich body butter. So we have all the moisturizing body products and you can use them together. You know, you could apply the Coconut Body Oil and then apply the Radiant Skin Silk over top if you wanted to, to get that extra moisture.
We had a really nice body scrub, but it was just a limited edition. But you can always make your own. Sometimes I'll do, you know, olive oil and sugar or something like that. Make a little body scrub. That could be nice before you apply your Coconut Body Oil and your Radiant Skin Silk.
Kelly, do you have a question?
Customer: Hi. Yes, I do. I have a question about hair care products. I have the Smoothing Hair Serum, which has really been really great for my crazy, really super coarse, dry hair that just wants to go every which way, but it says on the instructions to only put it on your ends, like, lower down, and I really have flyaways at the top of my head, so I've been putting it there, is there a problem with that? Are you not supposed to use it on the top of your head?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: No, you can, I don't know why it says that. You definitely can use it on the top of your head. You can use it anywhere. I feel like that product is really versatile. Like you can use it just on the ends of your hair, you can use it all over. You can use it on damp hair, dry hair. Grace uses it like a treatment mask. Right, Grace?
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Yeah, so I think it says that on the bottle because sometimes if you use a little too much on your roots, it could make your hair kind of greasy. But I, like Emily said, I use it as a treatment mask. So I douse my hair in it from roots to ends and then I'll leave it in for, I mean, anywhere from like 30 minutes to a couple hours. I'll usually go to my bar class and then come back and shower and rinse it off. But I actually also use it for flyaways because even during workouts or just like throughout the day if I have a tighter ponytail or bun or something I use it for flyaways as well, and I love it.
Customer: Okay. Thank you, and my other question is about the shampoo and the conditioner. I have had so much trouble finding any shampoos and conditioners that really work for super thick, coarse, dry hair that doesn't dry it out even more. So I was just wondering like with the shampoo and conditioner you all are selling, would that work for my type of hair or would that not really help me?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I mean, I feel like it should. It's pretty, like, universal. It's good for all hair types. It's got, like, aloe and horsetail and nettle, so it's very strengthening and nourishing. And, you know, if you have super dry, coarse hair, I would just use quite a bit of the conditioner when you apply it and leave it on for a bit while you’re showering. You could always give it a try and then reach out to our customer care team if it doesn’t work well for you to return or exchange it. I think we have the shampoo and conditioner available in a travel size as well, which can be nice if you just want to try it to see how it works for you.
Customer: Okay. And I just have one more question now about a different product, the eye serum. Is it a problem, like I have areas around my eyes that are really close to my eyelashes that I want it to target and is it a problem to get it really close to your eyelashes? Could that cause a problem down the road?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So the general recommendation with any eye care product is to apply it on the orbital bone. I do sometimes apply our eye cream on my lid, and it's not an issue for me. I would say as long as you're not getting it in your eye, and you don't have, you're not sensitive in that area, it's probably fine. But technically the recommended way to use the product is to apply it around the orbital bone.
Good questions. Any other questions, you guys, we just have a few minutes left here.
Customer: I have a quick question. What do you think of using makeup brushes to apply the product? Because sometimes it's suggested like because your skin is porous and your hands will absorb some of the product. So to make the most out of it, some people will use, you know, makeup brushes for that purpose. Just wondering what's your take on that?
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, I think that would be fine. I mean we do sell a mask bowl and brush set, so you could use something like that to apply your products if you wanted to. We also have a lotus wood cleansing brush that can be used with our cleansers. Just as long as you are keeping whatever you are using clean and you aren’t using anything that is harsh or too abrasive that might cause some irritation then I think it’s fine.
Awesome. All right, you guys are we feeling complete? Any other questions before we wrap up? If you guys do think of any other questions that you didn't get to ask, you can always email our customer care team. The email is just ask@annmariegianni.com. We can put that in the chat for you.
And I think that's it. You guys were great. Thanks for joining. This was a fun little group. I loved all the questions.
Customer: Thank you, I really appreciate this.
Emily Haupt-Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: You're so welcome. I hope you all have a great afternoon. Bye.
