Do you find it challenging to find skin care products and a routine that actually work for your oily skin? If you are looking for facial cleansers for oily skin, then you're in the right place!
What it all boils down to is that oily skin is more complex than you might think. So complex in fact, that there is an ancient practice dedicated to face mapping for acne, which alerts you to what your blemishes are trying to tell you.
Did you know that there are several factors that contribute to the development of clogged pores like diet and even using the wrong skin care products? Even your hormones can cause acne and it's important to understand why these can cause acne the possible help and treatment for hormonal acne. However, if oily skin is not being addressed externally (as well as internally), you may still find yourself experiencing this longer than you'd like.
When you try to deal with skin using harsh ingredients, you can end up with harsh results and likely, a very taxed complexion. Skin care ingredients and your routine should be simple. After all, your skin is the armor that protects your temple — treat it with tender loving care!
Today, we’re going skin deep and re-visiting our products for oily skin. Our oily skin product line was developed with oily-natured skin types in mind. If used consistently and in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, these products have the potential to bring balance back to your skin, resulting in a clean and radiant complexion. Those results seem more positive than the former, don’t you agree?
Our products for oily skin
Our skin care is simple skin care. All of our products are made by hand and synergistically formulated to target specific skin types using nutrient-dense and antioxidant-rich herbs and oils. The herbs are selected with utmost care because it’s not enough to use skin care that's free of chemicals. It has to work. Let’s take a look at the oily skin product line so you can learn how to treat your oily skin:
Citrus Mint Cleanser
This cleanser is for you if you either wake up with that dewy glow (from your skin’s natural oils) or develop it on your complexion during the day — especially on the T-zone. A shiny T (typically your forehead, nose, and chin) is an indication of excess sebum production in those areas. This happens because the T-zone has a higher amount of oil glands than the rest of the face. Some people experience dry cheeks with an oily T-zone. In this case, you have normal / combination skin. Our Citrus Mint Cleanser is suitable for both. As long as you are oily-natured, this blend of herbs with natural oil-balancing properties has your back!
Use morning and evening. Apply to damp skin, massage onto face and neck then rinse. Can be used before or in combination with one of our facial scrubs for an exfoliation treatment.
Rosemary Toning Mist
Our Rosemary Toning Mist is simply a rosemary hydrosol, a distillate of rosemary. We create our hydrosols in small batches using steam. The fresh flowers or plant material are “brewed” with water in large pots, steam is introduced and fills the pot, and as the steam rises, the glands of the plant material begin to burst and release oils into the steam. The oil is then collected as an essential oil, and the water left behind is your hydrosol.
Hydrosols are basically a by-product of essential oil production, containing all of the essences of the plant, but in milder and easily usable form. We chose rosemary hydrosol for our toner for oily skin types because rosemary is known to have cleansing, purifying and invigorating properties. This mist is a must-try if you are looking to tone your oily skin!
Spritz 2-3 pumps after cleansing and before applying a serum. Also can be used after applying facial oil to drive the oil deeper into the skin.
Anti-Aging Serum
Our Anti-Aging Serum is a great addition to a skin care routine for an oily skin care regimen. This serum, with its potent antioxidant infusion, is surely a decadent indulgence for your skin. High in lignans from flaxseed and hyaluronic acid keeps your skin looking refreshed and hydrated.
Use morning and evening. Apply 1-2 pumps after toning mist and before facial oil.
Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin
When you have oily skin, it is generally because of a lack of hydration in the layers of the skin. This causes your skin's sebaceous glands to produce more oil to balance out your moisture levels. Excess sebum can cause oily skin as well as clogged pores. If you can balance your natural oils, you can bring your skin surface back to equilibrium.
So if you have oily skin, fine oils can penetrate deeper into the skin and deliver skin-enriching nutrients. This is where we recommend our Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin. With its cleansing blend of herbs, this oily goodness will become a staple for your skin. Oil-free products don’t sound too desirable now, do they?
Use morning and evening. Apply 1-2 pumps (depending on your preference) after serum.
(Sun Love is encouraged too; apply in the mornings after this step)
Purifying Mud Mask
Alas, our Purifying Mud Mask absorbs excess oil and impurities, making it a wonderful oily skin treatment. Our favorite benefit of this mask is that it not only helps to purify the skin, but it also adds minerals that are in its mineral-rich clay and chlorella algae.
Simply apply the mud all over, 1-3 times per week. You can also mix it with a few sprays of the Rosemary Toning Mist in place of water for a more purifying experience!
There you have it, folks! Our Purify Collection—products tailored for oily skin. We believe you can find the answer to your skin woes in nature, so we went ahead and bottled up nature for you.
While considering the right products to address the external causes for your oily skin and clogged pores, we suggest also taking a holistic approach and looking at what you’re putting into your body (sometimes the skin care products can only do so much!).
Sugars, excess fats (even good fats), soy, and dairy can all attribute to oily skin. These internal factors, or an existing condition, can create an imbalance between your hormones, gut flora and digestive system.
So, to start with what’s happening inside, try adding lots of leafy greens, probiotics and cultured veggies into your daily routine and see if that’s helpful. If you remain consistent with a clean and healthy diet while using our products, you can achieve beautiful, clean skin.

Jennifer
I have been using the Citrus Mint Cleanser, Rosemary Toning Mist, and Herbal Facial Oil for Oily and Acne Prone Skin for about a month now and love them. I have a very oily T-zone and these products have helped keep that under control while also greatly improving my acne and the overall look and feel of my skin. However, I have noticed that my cheeks are getting a little dry and flaky, particularly at the cheekbones. What would you recommend? Should I try using more of the oil on my cheeks or try one of the other products?

Hi Jennifer! I’m glad these products are helping you clear up your acne! Keep using the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily/Acne Prone Skin on your T zone. You might consider incorporating the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal/Combination skin on your cheeks and dry areas. This oil is less astringent and will give you a little more moisture.
Another thing you could do is add a serum to your routine. We have two: the Citrus Stem Cell Serum and the Anti-Aging Serum. Both have a base of aloe, with oil and herbs in there as well. The Citrus Stem Cell Serum targets skin tone, scars, and sun spots. It has a jojoba oil base and Vitamin C to lighten up those dark spots. It is the more moisturizing of our serum. Because of the Vitamin C/the potency of this product, some people break out while using it. I have similar skin to yours – break out prone with cheek dryness- and I LOVE this serum.
The Anti-Aging serum has grape seed oil in it (which is also in both of our Herbal Facial Oils) and targets wrinkles. This serum is more mild than the Repair, with soothing rose distillate.
Try adding in a serum for some extra moisture where you need it. Hope this helps!

Aloe-Herb facial cleanser is what I purchased from your company last spring, I use is every night on face and neck, love it and think it does keep my simple breakouts at bay.
I have relatively dry skin with a few oily patches so my question is what do you suggest I use in conjunction with this product.

Hi Martha! I’m glad the Aloe Herb Cleanser is keeping your breakouts controlled! I would recommend adding the Anti-Aging Serum, which is an aloe-based serum with grape seed oil in it (and other amazing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and plantain leaves). This should help with your dry areas without making them greasy or oily.
For your oily areas, you can use the Purifying Mud Mask to control the oil while drawing out impurities. Another good one is the Dead Sea Scrub. You shouldn’t scrub it on active acne breakouts, but you can use it as a spot treatment if you gently wash it off. You can use either of these products once or twice a week (but only use them on your oily areas).
I hope this helps! 🙂
Kelly
My acne prone skin tends to be very dry, never oily. Will the product regimen above help in my situation or do you recommend something different?

Hi Kelly! Good question. I recommend you experiment with a few products. The Aloe Herb Cleanser might work well for you since it is moisturizing. However, you might need something more astringent, like the Citrus Mint Cleanser. Yes, this product is meant to control oil, but it does not dry out or strip your skin. Rather it cleans deeply to remove dirt and impurities. You may find alternating these two cleansers works best for you. A lot of us in the office do that.
I would definitely suggest that you try the Anti-Aging Serum, as this is great for acne as well as dryness (which can lead to wrinkles). It has grapeseed oil, which is a moisturizing oil that has been shown to help control breakouts! Such a miracle. Hyaluronic acid in this product helps your skin retain water, for plump and healthy skin.
For your facial oil, the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal/Combination Skin might be best for you. It has a grape seed oil base and works well for a lot of people who are breakout prone. The Herbal Facial Oil for Oily/Acne Prone skin has the same grape seed oil base, but is slightly astringent and might be drying for your skin.
Is your skin dry because of the products you are using? Many products geared towards acne can have this effect. If this is the case, you might find our acne is perfect for you. It is not designed to dry out the skin.
Also, you might find this article helpful: It talks what it means when certain areas of the face are breaking out. For example, chin acne is believed to be hormonal, whereas acne on the forehead can signal an allergy.
Hope this helps, thanks for reading!!
