Beautiful Voices is our ongoing blog series that highlights inspiring, empowering women. Our most recent Beautiful Voice is Rachel Pachivas. See what she says when Annmarie asks her some questions about her own personal beauty…

Rachel Pachivas works daily with Label GMOs to require the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods in the state of California.

Rachel believes the lack of transparency with corporations has created a movement with the citizens who believe it is our fundamental right to know what we are consuming, better yet- intertwining with our bodies and souls. Whether this is the food we eat, the water that comes out of our faucets, the air we breath, the medicine that is prescribed to us, or the products that go on our precious bodies- it is our birthright to use and to share nature’s gifts and resources with peace of mind.

Who do you feel you are today? What event has defined your life?

I am me. I have actually never felt the way I do today – comfortable in my own skin, happy to fight for my beliefs, simply a strong and beautiful woman. I am an activist who wants love to overcome the fear in this world. Recently I’ve realized that if I have an idea that needs to be brought to life, *I* need to do it. There are so many environmental and social issues and injustices that need attention, when my eyes were opened to seeing that- my life changed!

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

People. Everyday people who stand up for what they believe in.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Ever since I was a little girl my dad always told me, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything”. At first I thought he was just being a dad, but then… years later, it clicked. I saw he was being a friend and a role model as well. This has definitely resonated with me very much lately, especially over the past year when I started really standing up for justices I believe in. And now… I say it.

Where and when do you feel most at peace?

My Goodness, that’s a hard one. I feel at peace quite often actually. Usually it is when I am covered in dirt in my garden, or in any sort of nature setting- on the beach, in the forest, or somewhere isolated, away from the noises of society. But honestly, I could be out in the middle of the festival seeing people smiling and laughing, and that brings me an incredible sense of peace.

What does beauty mean to you?

Being love. It is as simple as that- let love shine through your eyes and your smile. That is pure beauty.

What’s your favorite beauty secret or tip?

Meditate. Seriously, it calms my mind and brings a clarity to my soul.

What do you do when you want to pamper yourself?

I go to the hot springs. Oh my! There is no other feeling like it- I promise!

How does Annmarie’s mission fit into your lifestyle?

I am so lucky to have stumbled upon Annmarie Gianni and her skin care line, especially the eye cream. 🙂 But it is not only about being pure and organic, it’s about educating others about this. Annmarie believes in creating beauty through knowledge as well as the goodness that you put on your skin and in your body. I actually joined the team here at Annmarie Gianni’s because I was so inspired by what she desires for skin care and for the world around her.

What are your words of wisdom to other beauties out there?

Be kind to yourself, and believe that you are beautiful. Take as much time as you can to dance and laugh with life. 🙂
