Beautiful Voices is our ongoing blog series that highlights inspiring, empowering women. Our most recent Beautiful Voice is Jennie Fresa. See what she says when Annmarie asks her some questions about her own personal beauty…
Jennie Fresa is the owner of her own makeup and skin care boutiquerie that helps 100s of clients each year enhance their natural beauty.
Jennie Fresa is known for helping her clients enhance their natural beauty. As a former NYC Trainer and International Makeup Artist for Trish McEvoy, she learned the importance of listening to her clients needs and creating custom looks that best suit their individual lifestyle. This approach put her in high demand among many private NYC clients and brides. She has since brought her passion for personalized beauty to the CT shoreline where she and her team beautify over 100 brides a year. Their work has been featured in BRIDES CT, Style Me Pretty, Southern New England Weddings and Martha Stewart Weddings to name a few. As a facialist and makeup artist, Jennie works closely with all of her clients to ensure they are truly putting their best face forward.
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
My former boss, Trish McEvoy, is a big inspiration to me. She taught me about listening to my client’s needs. I’m very grateful for the time I spent working with Trish. She’s an incredible business woman who built a beauty empire from the ground up. I respect that.
What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
To not take things personally and to be impeccable with my words. To be honest, I’m still working on both. I’m reading a great book by Dale Carnegie. I love this excerpt: “History will remind you that the greatest influencers are those who held their tongues and swallowed their pride when the tide of negative emotion was arising, and instead let brevity, humility, and wisdom say far more than a critical tirade ever could.”
If money was no object what would you be doing (or, would it be exactly what you are already doing?)
I would be doing exactly what I’m doing now…but probably with a cuter outfit and Chanel handbag. What can I say? I love fashion!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
To seek first to understand, then to be understood.
Where and when do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I’m at home, on my days off with my husband and our black lab, Ellie. Balance is crucial. I feel Sundays are sacred and, when possible, I try not to book myself. Having the time to rest and recuperate with my family and friends is so important to me. It helps me keep everything in perspective and do my best work when I get back to the grind.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty is about attitude. Confidence is essential. I really admire the spirit of French women; they love makeup but always manage to look effortlessly chic – never overdone. To me, there is nothing more attractive that a woman of a certain age who owns her lines. That is beautiful.
What’s your favorite beauty secret or tip?
I recently started using oils and serums to hydrate my skin. They can penetrate deeper into the skin than cream. My winter skin regime consists of using your Annmarie Anti-Aging Serum at night. It’s very soothing and leaves my skin silky smooth.
What do you do when you want to pamper yourself?
In my opinion, the ultimate pampering experience is getting a massage! After standing on my feet all day, a full body massage helps to promote circulation and loosen my muscles. I try to treat myself once a month. I’m also a huge bath person. If I’m not being indulgent with a rub down, then I’ll light a candle and take a nice long soak with some Epsom salts. This is more of a nightly ritual.
How does Annmarie’s mission fit into your lifestyle?
Using chemical-free products is such a small step toward living a more healthy life. It’s both Annmarie’s mission with her products and my mission here at Jennie Fresa Makeup and skin care Boutiquerie. I want my clients to trust that I did the research for them and that I care about what they are putting on their skin.
What are your words of wisdom to other beauties out there?
That’s easy. Follow your dreams!

Annmarie Gianni
