Like everything else we formulate, the ingredients in Oud Révélé represent our commitment to sustainable, plant-based materials—and set a new standard for all-natural (and alcohol-free) perfume.
Not only does this guarantee a safe and effective formula, but it also positively impacts the environment and the lives of our farmers and their families. So we take great pride in our sourcing partners, who uphold the same values and high standards.
A closer look at our sustainable process and sourcing partner.
Our sourcing partner is a family business founded in 1980, based in Le Sen, France, with 12 production sites in 7 countries. They began by distilling maritime pine needles in the largest cultivated forest in Europe and have adopted a number of modern, environmentally-conscious practices since then—including waste recovery and development in natural extracts.
They've also been instrumental in creating fair supply chains in countries where plants are endemic or traditionally cultivated, from Morocco to Bulgaria and many more. We were proud to use these materials in our Oud Révélé, resulting in a truly sustainable product. Here's a closer look at each:
Oud – Oud is a rare and highly coveted essential oil, distilled from forest trees in Vietnam where they are inoculated by hand after 10 years and sustainably harvested. The oud itself results from a rare fungus that only infects select trees and must propagate for 2 years before its deeply-wooded scent—with hints of leather and spice—is revealed.
Rose – Our rose is actually two forms of the same flower: soft, rounded rose oil and rose absolute flower extract. The subtlety of the oil marries beautifully with the intensity of the absolute, for a perfectly-balanced scent. They are bottled from our source overseas, with production in Turkey, Bulgaria, and Morocco. The bushes bloom once a year from May to June and the flowers are harvested ethically by hand.
Sandalwood – Our 100% natural sandalwood is sourced sustainably from New Caledonia, where eight tribes share access to the island’s supply. The operation is overseen by forest control authorities to ensure a sustainable supply; three trees are replanted for every tree used. Additionally, the distillery benefits local laborers.
Olibanum – This organic gum-resin boasts a lightly-spiced scent and is formed from several species of Boswellia, a small tree in Arabia and North Africa. These trees are raised in the wild and the gum-resin is collected in Somalia by experienced natives before undergoing a rigorous cleaning and grading process.
Jasmine – We paired two varietals of jasmine together—Jasminum sambac and Jasminum grandiflorum. The fruity and spicy sambac comes from a sustainable source in India; and the sweeter grandiflorum comes from the Nile Delta region in Egypt, where they are grown from spring to summer and hand-picked in the morning.
Labdanum – Labdanum evokes a warm, amber note. The shrub is native to the Mediterranean basin and the leaves and twigs are collected in Spain with the support of the EU and regional Spanish authorities. They are then extracted in a facility where wastewater is treated to maximize its reusability without waste.
