With so many different approaches to self care, wellness, and spirituality at our fingertips, how do we know what works? One of our favorite ways to learn about new practices is, of course, to see what our friends are doing, and how it’s working for them.
That’s what Radiance + Ritual is all about.
Radiance + Ritual is an interview series that takes a deeper look at individuals in our community who are living in their glow—what wellness rituals they practice, what self-care looks like to them, and what routines help them achieve their best self.
Here are a few of our favorite Radiance + Ritual quotes from 2019.
Sachi Doctor, Elemental Alchemy
To me, wellness isn’t a fixed state that once achieved or established we can ignore; it is dynamic, ongoing and in direct relationship with nature’s rhythms, the ebbs and flows of life.
And because it shifts in relationship to the world around us, I believe that it’s essential to invite a sense of childlike curiosity and wonder into our daily experiences — a sense of wonder and awe.
It’s with this mindset that we can shift the experience of self-care and wellness from one of self-doubt and comparison to one that fosters self-awareness, joy and mind-body harmony. Something both sustainable and supportive.
Katie Wells, Wellness Mama
Over the years, I’ve realized that to some degree, maybe everybody has it right. In other words, every health “expert” has figured out what works best for them. While we can learn from everyone, their exact approach may not be what actually works for you or for me.
I think that real wellness is personalized and varied. It’s something we each have to dial in and figure out on our own, though thankfully there are so many people we can learn from now.
I also think that for a long time, the conversation was too focused on food and movement. To me, true wellness includes mental health, family time, addressing stress, sleeping enough, spending time in nature and finding your own version of balance.
Rachel Pachivas, Annmarie Skin Care COO
There are so many fads out there today and all of them are telling us that we are doing it the wrong way. So my way is to not adhere to any of them and just eat straight from the Earth and use products that you can pretty much make on your own. And most importantly, don’t make yourself feel bad about any of it.
Johanna Braddy, Actress and ASC Clean Beauty Ambassador
I get my glow from spending time with people I really care about. The older I get, the more important family is to me, and friends that truly care about me. I think I also get a glow from being in nature—camping and surfing, and just being around things that are natural.
