Introduce yourself! Who are you, what do you do for a living, for fun?
Hi beauties! My name is Emory Hall and I am a photographer, writer and creative. The heart of my work lies in documenting and celebrating the diversity of cultures in our world through both imagery and story.
Art can be a powerful tool for fostering connection and bringing awareness to important global issues – it is my deepest hope that my work does that.
For as long as I can remember, the road has been my home and living out of suitcases and backpacks has been the norm. Exploring, adventuring, learning, seeking, experiencing and creating are all things things that inspire and drive me.
Some of our favorite work from Emory. You can check out more of her work here.
Walk us through your morning ritual and skin care routine
The morning is such a sacred time of day. I take my time with it, allowing myself to slowly enter into each new day centered, awake and refreshed… That begins with taking care of my body. I start every day with a hot shower, using all natural cleansers on my face and body.
Following that, I apply body oil (the Annmarie Coconut Body Oil is honestly my favorite), a facial serum to replenish/prevent, and finally a moisturizer to seal/protect. Once I’m feeling externally refreshed, I carve out time to do inner work.
Even when I’m on the road (which is a lot of the time) I do my meditation practice in the morning. It’s my way of grounding, healing, and remaining awake – it is something that I honestly can’t live without.
What’s your wellness philosophy?
Thy body is thy temple. Treat is as such.
How do you get your glow: Internally, externally?
My internal and external rituals are forms of self-care and self-love that keep me glowing and feeling at my best. From eating well (I eat plant-based) and getting good rest, to practicing meditation and yoga, there are so many ways that we can nourish ourselves.
While it can be hard to keep up with our rituals – especially for those of us that travel a lot – sticking to them can dramatically impact our wellbeing. For me, routine can mean something as simple as making sure I meditate every morning. When my days get crazy with work (which they often do) at least I have my morning practice to keep me centered throughout it all.
Society often pushes us towards indulgence and unhealthy habits. When we choose to simplify rather than accumulate, or choose to practice rather than check out, we impact not only our own lives but the lives of those around us too. Just keep making the best and healthiest decisions for your heart and your life—you will no doubt get your glow.
With so many health trends out there, which ones are sticking for you right now?
Listen to your body – that’s my motto. While health trends do often have helpful information to offer, at the end of the day we have to listen to and trust our own bodies.
They are wise and are constantly communicating with us – listen, learn and trust.
What’s your go to Annmarie Skin Care product?
The Coconut Body Oil is a life essential : )
What’s one wellness essential you can’t live without right now?
I’ve been using a smokeless smudge spray a lot recently. I carry it with me when I’m traveling and keep it beside my bed at home. Sage is a powerful, purifying herb that has been used for centuries to clear space and energy.
I am constantly in new environments and surrounded by a ton of people – as a sensitive being, things like sage can be incredibly helpful in staying in your own energy and vibration.
Much gratitude and love to Emory for sharing some of her wisdom with us. You can check out more of her work here.
