Beautiful Voices: Lindy Christenson

Beautiful Voices is our ongoing blog series that highlights inspiring, empowering women, who are also Annmarie Skin Care customers. Our most recent Beautiful Voice is Lindy Christenson. See what she says when we ask her some questions about her own personal journey with beauty, skin care and living her best life.

I am Lindy Christenson, a retired world renown fashion model. I started in 1974 with Nina Blanchard in Los Angeles, I then went to London and life was exciting and great. I made tons of money and became slightly famous. I was called “the girl with the beautiful smile.” I also had a bum that I suppose was quite famous since it was posted on the side of a wall outside a restaurant in London, the photo was taken by a famous photographer named John Swannell. I was also featured in several calendars for Pentax and photography books by Sam Haskins. All of this led me to an early retirement in the 90’s and I had 4 amazing children who are my closest friends! I guess I did something right for sure. I’ve been married to a cute guy for 35 years and I still look beautiful. Older, but beautiful. No facelifts—just good, clean, refreshing food and water, exercise, and I treat my skin like it’s an organ. Here’s where I just have to say something about Annmarie’s products… Organic and wildcrafted! Yes!

If money was no object what would you be doing?

I would live in a tiki hut or tree house on the surf on a tropical island!  Seriously! I would love every single moment of it!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

A wise elder once answered a question I asked him with a life-changing answer for me. I asked him if I should pack up my kids and move somewhere to high ground because I was worried about earth changes, he answered, “Well, that would be okay, but dear Lindy, please never NEVER do anything out of FEAR.” That totally changed my way of thinking, and his words resonated with me.

Where and when do you feel most at peace?

I feel most at peace in Galisteo, New Mexico. There is a place called the Galisteo Lodge and there is an institute there called the Light Institute. I went there a while ago one time and I felt so very happy, joyful, and at peace. Apparently, there is a vortex of sorts there that raised the energy, and I have to say, I felt it. Odd answer, but that’s what came to me…

What’s your favorite beauty secret or tip?

Many years ago when I learned that my skin is an organ and what I put on it is as important as what I put in my body I became an Herbalist. I am self-taught and I saw that Mother Earth had so many food items for my body on the inside and outside, as well as essences for my breath. I love what nature gives us to eat, smell, and rub on our bodies. Why look further than our own backyard for nourishment, flavor, smells, and potions to enrich almost any part we may desire or need for our bodies?

What makes you feel beautiful?

I know this sounds perhaps egotistical, I don’t mean it that way at all, but when I look in the mirror I see a beautiful person. As you know, I have been a fashion model all my life, and even at 63 when I see my reflection I see a beautiful lady. I take very good care of the body I was given and perhaps that’s why I see myself as beautiful. I also like the inside of me! Beauty is not skin deep.

How does Annmarie’s mission fit into your lifestyle?

Well, when I accidentally ran across a YouTube video of her wildcrafting plants to enrich our skin and improve our all over health and beauty, I was HOOKED ON ANNMARIE! It’s wonderful to have her energy, wisdom, and essence in my life and on my nightstand. Thanks so much, I am simply having a ball including your wisdom in my life.
