Beautiful Voices is our ongoing blog series that highlights inspiring, empowering women. Our most recent Beautiful Voice is Elaine Lilley. See what she says when Annmarie asks her some questions about her own personal beauty.
Elaine is a Maine native and currently resides in Southern Maine. She owns and operates Sunset Marina with her husband, Dan, in South Portland, ME. She has been a marina owner/operator for 19 years. Elaine is also a Psychic/Intuitive and the Founder of Mind, Body & Soul Consulting. Her can visit her website here.
If money was no object, what would you be doing?
I would open a Wellness Center locally and have various modalities of healers available to assist others. This would be run on a sliding scale so that anyone could enjoy the benefits of becoming well. I would offer intuitive consulting to empower others on their paths to success. There are so many healing methods that people don’t use because they don’t know enough about them. Having everyone in one place would make it easier. Maine has a tremendous addiction epidemic and I believe bringing healers together to work on active users could potentially make dramatic changes.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty shines through in your behavior and how you radiate out to others. Some of the most beautiful women I know don’t wear makeup and age with grace. Wrinkles are lines of wisdom, to me. They show how far I’ve come. How you treat others is also a reflection of what’s in your soul. Also, how you carry yourself is beauty. Are you poised and confident? Smiling helps even when you don’t feel like it.
Who do you feel you are today? What event has defined your life?
I’m very comfortable with who I am. Being in my mid-forties, I never thought I would say that. I work on the waterfront in Maine surrounded by a lot of men. Proving yourself as a woman takes courage and stamina. Having started strength training over a year ago has improved my outlook dramatically. Feeling strong = being strong. I’m not afraid to do what it takes to make our business the best it can be. You shake the fear off and keep moving.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Always be true to yourself and follow your intuition. I strongly believe that we need to honor our instincts and listen to them at all costs. Today, we forget that we have an internal compass to guide us. We tune it out and listen to others or follow guidance that doesn’t ring true for us. Being an individual means you follow your own path. Honor your own talents and wishes.
What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
Putting myself “out there” to conduct readings was scary. I truly want to help others and be of service in the best way possible. I trusted that I was being guided in my work and to the people I needed to help. The more readings I gave, the more comfortable I felt. I got rid of the negative self-talk and kept pursuing my dream. Never give up no matter what!
Isn’t she beautiful?
Much Love,
Annmarie Gianni
