Beautiful Voices is our ongoing blog series that highlights inspiring, empowering women. Our most recent Beautiful Voice is Lane Kieffer. See what she says when Annmarie asks her some questions about her own personal beauty…
Lane Kieffer is 27 years old and lives outside of Philadelphia, PA. She grew up in a rural town in central Pennsylvania. She says her career (as stressful as it is) has taught her patience, and how to build inner strength. “I’ve learned that no material thing can make you happy; that comes from within. Sometimes you don’t see the beauty in your messy, stressful situation until you look back & see how much it impacted your life.”
Where and when do you feel most at peace?
Any time I’m in nature. I like to be deep within a forest—that is heaven to me. Whether I’m on a walk or riding my bike, I love the breeze, the sun on my face, birds singing, rain falling on the leaves, and the movement of just being alive. It’s energizing and meditative. I feel most connected to life (the big picture) in general. It puts everything in perspective.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Our health begins inside. How we feel radiates into the world in the form of our actions. How we live not only affects our body, mind, and spirit, but also affects the body, mind, and spirit of everyone we encounter. If we shift our thoughts, fears, worries, and insecurities about health from how we look to how we feel, we set ourselves up for the ultimate success in health and happiness. Eat clean and healthy, manage stress, and get regular physical activity.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty begins in your heart, mind, feelings, and thoughts. Being kind and loving toward yourself and others flows freely when you pay attention to what your body and mind needs. When you take care of the inner self, the outer self reflects it. Beauty is knowing it within yourself and helping others notice it within themselves.
What makes you feel beautiful?
Self-care inside and out. Growing up, I always thought pampering yourself or taking time out just for me was selfish and unnecessary. It seemed like a waste of money, and I suppose I didn’t think I was worth the time and money. It’s true what they say—you’re a better version of “you” when you love yourself first. When you pamper yourself, it reaffirms that you are worth it!
What’s your favorite beauty secret or tip?
Meditation. It keeps you centered and focused on what your intentions are. At first, it might seem like a nuisance having to take even 5 minutes out of your day to meditate, but soon you find that when the little things are bothering you, you know exactly what you need to do to get back on track.
Isn’t she beautiful?
Much Love,
Annmarie Gianni
